This is a dumb question, but how do you watermark your art? I made a signature brush to sign on my art, but I can’t seem to get it to look like yours in terms of spacing, opacity, etc…

Not a dumb question!! I gottchu!!

It's a long post so I'm gonna hide it so it doesn't take up too much space teehee

I use Clip Studio Paint and its tools to help.

Slay with that signature brush but for those who may see this and don't have one of those like me-

I hand write mine. You can use any brush, but I personally turn off pressure when writing so it looks a bit neater. If you don't know how to turn pressure off on a brush and you use CSP, its gonna be next to the brush size!

click that lil button with the two check marks and it'll be the first option!

Your watermark can be anything, but I stick to my username and year.

But you can see here its too long and takes up a lot of space

Instead of using the transform tool to shrink it down, I use the liquefy brush since I can also make it look straighter and for another benefit I'll get into later--

Now for the part I think you're most wondering about-

So with spacing, I eye ball it at first with ctrl c and ctrl v

BUT BUT TO GET THE SPACING MORE EVEN- SELECT ALL YOUR WATER MARK LAYERS AND GO ONTO LAYER SETTINGS THAT LOOK LIKE THIS. You might have your settings arranged differently, but its the alignment setting.

WITH ALL THOSE LAYERS SELECTED, YOU'RE GONNA HIT THESE TWO BUTTONS

As you can see, it'll align them. Next, you gotta merge all of those watermark layers, duplicate it, and move the new layer to the other side.

You're gonna select those two watermark layers and then go back to the same alignment layer settings and select thissss

again, it lines it all up. Now merge those two layers and GO BACK to the same settings and select

That will center your watermarking both vertically and horizontally.

If you have a three or more columns, it's all in the same settings. you'll just be using the distribute buttons more, specifically the middle options. Align is mostly for 2 layers and distribute is for 3 or more.

But now its just a black watermark over everything. To make it pop more, I give the water mark a white outline in these layer settings

Also a bonus with using the liquefy to resize your watermark instead of the transform tool, there won't be weird stray pixels in the border. You could also write your watermark using a vector layer to prevent that as well.

With that boarder effect, I make a new empty layer to merge with the watermark one. It keeps the look but removes the layer effect status on it so when you mess with opacity, the white will also fade with the black. It acts really weird when it acts still as a layer effect in my experience.

At this point I lower the opacity to around 5-15 percent with it as an overlay, hard light, or soft light. It depends on how visible it is. I don't want to to be TOO in your face but still present, ya know? I some times mess around with the colors and not just keep it black and white, but that's not very often.

In this example, I had to set to soft light with an opacity of eight! You can also go in with a soft eraser brush and lightly fade it in some areas if you think its taking any detail away from your drawing (Not doing it here cause narinder doesn't deserve it)

I have to mentally remind myself so often that my art isn't just "average."

I am so rotted from being online and surrounded by other artist that I forget drawing isn't something everyone does and not everyone is good at.

I'm bad at praising myself about anything, but I have to give myself a least this. I can draw. I can draw pretty damn well.

I know others struggle with this same mindset. Please step back and remind yourselves as well.

my only guess is maybe people are worried the skull in the bottom right is meant to be yellow cat???? idk if that's not it then idk where they're seeing yellow cat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've been told people think Heket is Yellow Cat.

Someone said the way her bandages are drawn makes her look more like yellow cat but... There are no bandages. She would be healed here. I'm guessing its the eyes on her head giving her a kind of cat ear shape but ???? She's red??? Unless they think I drew Yellow Cat red with anger??? The blue overlay I used made her less saturated like reds do underwater, so I had to bring some red back in.

Idk man. Its weird I had some people argue with me on how they think its yellow cat when I'm the one who drew it?? Like what?

Also the skull is Ratau LMAO
