Gabriel squeezed his eyes and he let the thoughts cross his minds while he weighed them over and over again. “I think that we might be able to add some extra fire into this werewolf fight and maybe we can even find a way to get the other coven and the vampires involved in it.” He wondered what would happen if they would discover that he was working on a cure against the one thing that made werewolves lethal for vampires. “It would give them something more important to worry about. After all, once a months they would be very vulnerable with no possible cure.” Gabriel cocked his head. “And while the entire town is lost in the chaos of a war that was not even supposed to be theirs, we can make sure that we find whoever has Evelyn’s powers and return them to her. I’m certain that after that we can use the chaos to our advantage too.” Gabriel took a sip of his drink. “I don’t know exactly what plans Evelyn has for this time, bit I’m certain that she’s not against a little more chaos.”
Ray rather not agree with Gabriel but the plan was logical. It would benefit all of them, to make this town fall into a rather chaotic state. Ray could break away from the coven, gain more power for Mina. It was risky but... His need for freedom was becoming rather strong as of late. Without Mina around to calm him or insisting for him to trust her... He has become more agitated. Especially after talking to quite a few other people in town. “Those that took her powers would have to come into light if there is chaos” Ray spoke, not necessarily to Gabriel but more of a thought spoken out loud. It would allow him to have a chance to understand how the Supreme’s power was taken... And possibly allow him to give the other coven a chance to end the woman that was keeping him away from being completely free. “And so the board is set. Chaos will more or less be inevitable in this game.”

Amanda has to smile at his comment about the young ones, simply because it was only the other day that she saw someone wearing a pendant that displayed just the ‘yin’ part, meaning that their partner of perhaps best friend might have the other half. “Yes, for some it has become a modern day symbol that is worn without knowing the true meaning. Although I guess some of them will know and still like the idea of donning some fashion item with it on.”
She gives him a nod. “Yes I have. I have been sleepwalking all of my life–well as far as I can remember anyway. It has caused some serious problems for me and raised questions that I don’t really know the answers to.” She will need her parents for some of those answers and considering they gave her up to be fostered when she was really young, Amanda figures she will never know. “Some people are reasonably understanding…whilst others can get very aggressive and think I am lying.” Her most recent was a vampire.
“Sometimes we all get busy with life don’t we…and then we realise it’s been so long since we have spoken to someone.” The brunette offers him a smile. “At least you have your sister though because you are right, family can be important.” She maintains the smile she has given him, even though she really doesn’t have a clue what it is like to have family at all. Sure, there were foster parents, but she got put with one–then another—and then another. It was only when she was old enough to move away, she got out.
In Ray’s opinion, the idea that people are aware of the symbolism and yet still choose to wear it as some sort of piece to show off their sense of style was more insulting than being ignorant. But saying that out loud would be rather rude, he knows that much, from experience and the fact that Mina has told him not to be so blunt about his ideas on modern society before. “I suppose there is some truth to that...” He mumbled, shrugging lightly.
Amanda’s predicament was... Curious to say the least. The idea of not being able to predict or control one’s movements while asleep was troubling to Ray. He preferred absolute control over every aspect of his life... Most people more or less would feel the same way. “That sounds... Troubling” He murmured, almost thoughtful, at what she could run into in this town. There are many that would try to attack her or become rather suspicious should she wander into a scene she shouldn’t. “No remedies at all?” His voice only held a slight tone of curiosity, the only hint of infliction in his otherwise monotone state.
Family wasn’t what he necessarily cared about. Parents were something Ray accepted that he would never have. But Mina wasn’t just a sister or a sibling. She was his other half. Everything he was not. Or that was how it was suppose to be. It wasn’t family but freedom that was important to him... And the two were greatly at conflict for some time. “I suppose I will talk to her when I can” He replied, dismissive of the comment more out of defense. Showing the vulnerability of having Mina in his life means it can be used against him.

“This is true…for every positive, there has to be a negative somewhere. Nature has her own way of balancing the scales. Even if we don’t always see it at the time.” He hasn’t been hostile to her at all, but Amanda can’t work out whether he is bothered about her company either. The guy is rather difficult to read, but judging by some of the more unfriendly ones she has met recently, she is willing to at least be nice to him unless he proves he doesn’t deserve that.
“Sometimes it’s not a case of wanting to find out…you just find yourself thrust into a situation and there’s little you can do about it…this is highly dangerous too.” She takes a deep inhale and looks at him, knowing her sleepwalking has got her into deep water lately. “I sleepwalk…and have woken up in some very dangerous places.”–or more to the point–in the presence of dangerous people. “But I am hoping that is behind me now.”
“To try and figure a few things out….” The brunette smiles again. “I have a lot in my life that has questions but not enough answers unfortunately. Probably family would help, but seeing as I don’t have any here–I can’t fall back on them. Do you have family in Arcadia?” She can’t remember whether he has stated that before or not and if truthful, Amanda doesn’t have any family anywhere.
Balance. It was such a delicate thing and yet so many in Arcadia did not truly comprehend the need for balance. Or choose to not care, depending on who you run into. The woman in front of them though... Ray can give a little respect to her views. “There is a reason that the yin and yang signs exist... Though I would believe that some of the younger age groups just see it as a possible jewelry piece they can wear.”
“Sleepwalking” Ray repeated, titling his head to the side in curiosity, “Have you been doing that here?” That was certainly interesting... And dangerous all at once. With the wolves not able to roam for miles up miles away from the town, surely a few have started to lurk in the alleys on a full moon. “That would certainly be a situation that uniquely puts you in danger without you being aware or trying.” He does not envy Amanda for that problem.
Ray paused, staring at her before glancing away. “My sister. She is rather busy though so I do not see her often.” Or rather he chose not to see her or seek her out. It was... Petty but he was still frustrated with her decisions as of late. Despite trusting her with his life and wiling to do anything she asks of him. At this point, he was more impressed that he was willing to say anything to a stranger about her... It wasn’t long ago where he wanted to keep her hidden at all costs. “Family is important, in some situations.”

Cadence nodded at his words - he was too right, and it scared her often how brazen many people were becoming. While she was no exception, she still knew that her prey would wake up with no memory of what had happened and carry on home. Though, she could have taken more care to put him out of sight, generally tucked away in an alley was enough.
“Many have become more careless, I wonder if they think that because we are stuck in here there are no consequences but their actions seem to bring more hunters into town.” And if she could have left, she would have, because Arcadia was not proving to be the place where she found herself. It was becoming the place that pointed out just how alone she was.
Careless. That word would accurately describe some of those roaming Arcadia’s actions. Perhaps even his own, if Ray truly thought about it. There is a concept that having borders, while they still have a decent room to roam, it still was limited and it was maddening for some. It goes with the idea that people as a whole do not like limitations. Not having control of where they want to go. The idea of more hunters coming in... Surely they become aware that they are now with those they hunt?
“It is foolish for hunters to do that” Ray was monotone but a hint of disgust was there. Vaguely but still hinted in his voice. It was like gladiator times, locking oneself into an arena with a lion. Yes they have weapons, and they have enough technology these days to get more resources sent to them. But what purpose? To poke the beasts roaming in the shadows? Ray thought about how it can be so easy to tip this town into chaos. “Were you about to head home?” He changed subject, knowing that the longer they openly talk about this at night, the chances they will catch someone’s attention increase.

“I have been interacting with the wolves myself too.” He thought about Natalia and about his short meetings with the others. “And even though they are quite lethal during that one night a month, they do not seem to bother much with the general politics in town.” He squeezed his eyes for a moment and wondered when the wolves would figure out that there were only so many witches within the borders of this town capable of creating a spell like that. “I do actually agree that from what it seems it is more likely that they will turn on each other before they will turn on someone else, although I do believe that if the Lykos pack will end on top, they might not want to stop at simply being the leaders of their werewolf brothers and sisters.” Gabriel frowned his eyebrows and thought about it for a moment. “We could of course use their war as a distraction and we could give the town something more important to worry about than the border, while we work on a solution for the current problem with Evelyn.” He paused for a moment. “And I happen to know a powerful vampire who might be willing to play a part in that scenario.”
What Gabriel was discussing was pretty on point. The wolves don’t seem too concern with politics in the town or interacting with other species that were roaming. Perhaps it was due to the whole power struggle that was happening a few months ago? “They are wrapped up in their own affairs” He murmured, wondering if that would continue. It certainly would work in Evelyn’s advantage as well as his. Give time to see which wolf pack can be manipulated to turn their sights onto the new group that has trapped them here to begin with. Which, once again Ray reluctantly agreed, the Lykos pack certainly seems to be the ones that might come out on top. He is hoping for that outcome. “Perhaps bring the war among the packs to light in front of people” He raised an eyebrow, “More so than it is... Certainly it would make many more... Focused on them.” People usually ignore those lurking in the shadows if a monster is right in front of you. The fact that Gabriel might set this in motion could work greatly with Ray’s chess game. Take a few more pawns off the table.

“They did not know what to do with me…”
Those words seem to make an impact with the young wolf. All her life she has genuinely felt that way and even though she isn’t a child anymore, to a certain extent she still believes a few people feel that way about her.
“My father never knew what to do with me…school teachers didn’t…counsellors either–so my father ignored the fuckin’ problem and buried his head instead. Only he thought by drilling it into me how I could do nothing right–how useless I was and how I hurt people, that somehow it would change me.” The blonde looks over at Ray, knowing she doesn’t talk about her parents to many people at all. “His words have never left me, Ray…I just learned to push them away in my mind.” Sure, they came back during her quietest moments when she was alone, but he doesn’t need to know that. “I thought I could make amends when he came back on Halloween–I guess I was pissed when I realised he was still spouting the same shit at me and nothing had changed, even with his death.” The word ‘pissed’ covered another emotion too—hurt, Amber was hurt by him because regardless of what he has ever said and done to her, she did love him. Pity he couldn’t love her too. “All that has happened to you…it’s made you what you are today…made you stronger…mentally stronger and course you wanna keep shit to yourself…I freakin’ would too–but we don’t always get what we want…and you just gotta deal with the fact that I was here to see it.” She raises a brow and looks over at him. “Why wouldn’t it have been wise to leave gradually?..because I might have witnessed more that you didn’t want me to see?”
The young wolf is not about to admit she understands all of this because she doesn’t–but the girl is trying very hard to. So when he speaks about being a kitsune, she does her upmost to concentrate and try and digest his words. “So what are you saying?..that even though you are aware on Halloween your powers are a negative impact for you–you did it anyway because you needed some form of relief?” She takes a deep breath and is about to offer up some example of a form of relief without it involving what he did, but she figures her crudeness might be better kept to herself for now. Not everyone appreciates her misplaced humour.
“Well I mean…I get that some can’t be completely honest all the time…even I aint that…I can lie pretty fuckin’ well when I wanna…” She gives a shrug, hoping the normality of her conversation with him, will help him feel better. She might not always know the right words to say–but Amber realises just by being herself, does sometimes help. “As long as you don’t harm me in anyway.”
Seeing Ray chuckle, the young blonde has to smile. She has seen smirks and nearly sure she has seen a grin breaking through a time or two, but Ray doesn’t often chuckle–in fact she can’t recall him doing so till now.
“I would never take your freedom…because mine is so important to me as well.” Doing her best scottish accent–Braveheart, she raises her hand, pretending she is holding a sword. “They may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!” Doing what can only be described as some sword fight re-enactment, but…without a sword, Amber smirks, her mind totally off the track of being pissed at him any more.
“Which coven are you connected to?…the one that’s put the barrier up?” This is kind of a guess on Ambers part, because she doesn’t actually know whether it is a lone witch or a coven that’s responsible for the barrier. “I meant emotionally, Ray….the mind…it’s a complex thing….likes to screw with us now and again.”
Ray listened to Amber, staying silent while she explained her past. Her father. A gnawing feeling settled in his stomach, one he didn’t feel often. Guilt. His actions have brought out some unsettled feelings between Amber and her father. As well as many insecurities that the wolf has buried deep in her mind.
If he was a better man he probably would make a more sincere apology. Or even hug her, despite the thought nearly made him cringe. Ray chose to stay silent, watching and listening to Amber as he felt his energy coming back to him. Running a hand through his hair, he uncharacteristically ruffled it, making him look oddly not composed, not like his normal attire or attitude. “Perhaps he is a spirit that does not fully realize he is beyond this world” He offered after awhile, “There... Are a few of those. Sometimes it is hard for a spirit to differ what has happen... And what has not.” At least for those that he has come across. In Arcadia, there is a lot of problems with the spirits. His mind gets exhausted being involved with it for a long period of time. Again, Halloween was a part of that exhaustion, tired of dealing with the thin veil... As well as giving a good show to the people of Arcadia. Reminding them ever so gently of the faces that were still lingering around. Though... It would seem that Amber’s father followed her into this place. Interesting thought but he wasn’t going to express that to her. “You would’ve seen the reveal of me being there, the adults realizing that I have heard them...” He paused, “As well as perhaps some spirits that were manipulated to do... Strange things.” He wasn’t sure if in the memory they would’ve seen the spirits, he only vaguely remembered the entire thing, pushing all those memories into the back of his mind and locked away.
It was a safer thing to do rather than let a strong spirit possibly manipulate him instead of the other way around. Ray focused on Amber just a little bit more, “Perhaps we now have a better understanding of one another, I suppose.” She has now seen a part of his past... As well as she has explained a part of hers to him. “Relief and to allow some spirits that were killed in the town some... Closure I suppose is the right word for it” He paused in thought, “Though now it is established that some of the spirits that linger here that I can bring forth are former beings that have followed people here. That will be something I will have to take into consideration next time.” Maybe in another dream sequence he can sense and bring one up? That would be something he will have to practice.
This time Ray gave her a small smile, almost a smirk. “I won’t harm you. Not... Intentionally anyways. You have done nothing. Other than punching me but that was... Warranted.” He made a face, wondering if this is what friendship is suppose to be like. Nothing in this town really makes sense anymore and he suppose he will have to accept that.
A small laugh broke out of him before he regained self control. “That is an awful accent” Ray remarked, staying deadpan though he felt... More relaxed. As if speaking to someone about himself was a relief rather than a burden. Normally he would talk to Mina but... With everything that has happen he has kept more and more to himself.
“Yes” Ray frowned, “Though it isn’t so much a coven like people would think of one. There is various creatures that the Supreme has gathered... I would be wary of anyone rather new that has shown up, Amber.” Especially various beings in the coven, who would love to manipulate the wolf. Hell, he was half interested in messing with her until they fell into this odd... Friendship. “The mind and spirit are odd beings. Complex and simple all at once.”

Cadence relaxed somewhat when she realized that it was merely Ray, someone she didn’t doubt that she could trust because generally, Viv had good judgement of others. Though, Viv’s disappearance had perhaps been the cause of her finally realizing that Cadence herself was more trouble than she was worth.
The succubus smiled at the man, “That’s alright, I just get a little tense on these streets sometimes. It seems to be getting more dangerous to walk them at night.”
Ray blinked, surprised by how... human Cadence’s response was. But then again, he suppose that just because they have to feed in a unique way doesn’t mean they don’t feel like they are normal otherwise. He also is not aware of how old she was, compared to the woman that introduced them. So perhaps she has wanted to keep herself more emotional? It will be something he will have to find out, he suppose.
“More people are becoming more... Obvious, I will agree” He looked around, “Even I have been a bit more careless in my actions.” A hint of reluctancy was in his voice, as if he was admitting a great shame.

“I am very well aware how rare the current situation is.” Gabriel had to admit that in a way Ray managed to make him feel more stressed about the situation than he had done. Evelyn was for him much more than just his sepreme. She was the one person in the world who knew what life was like when you were given powers you could do so many great things with and were stopped by those around you, believing that you should only use those powers for good. Apart from that, she was the only person who had managed to actually reach his heart and to make him feel like maybe deep down there was a certain longing for love inside of him.
“Evelyn probably has her reasons to let us look into the pack in this town.” Gabriel wondered if something had happened, but he squeezed his eyes a little. So far his main interest had been the werewolves, mostly because they possessed the only lethal weapon that could kill him and that didn’t know a cure. Maybe it was time to develop more interest in the witch community in this town. “At the moment Evelyn and I do not share the one thing that had brought us together and had made our personalities gravitate towards each other. I need to restore that, because not only the coven needs her.” He didn’t finish his sentence fully, knowing all too well that Ray was aware of the feelings Gabriel had towards this woman. “I might have met a few vampires who are very interested in power, I assume they are just much better at hiding their true intentions when they speak to a foreigners. If there is one thing that has not been a natural talent of most werewolves, it is controlling their emotions.”
Ray nodded, but didn’t speak about the situation with Evelyn anymore. He did not express that they have been on a time limit since the coven has put up the barrier, knowing that there will be more people wanting to get out than those wanting to help them. Unless the person that took Evelyn’s power is an enemy of the town as well... But that would require asking questions that would bring more attention onto himself. Staying silent and observing is what he can do best, while the more charming man next to him can inquire to the inhabitants of this town.
“I have interacted with the other packs roaming this town than I have with the one that is established here” Ray murmured, pondering on the thought of dealing with the wolves. They didn’t hold much interest to him, mostly due to the fact that a group of them during a full moon could rip him to shreds if he wasn’t careful. That and after interacting with one of the packs intending on taking over the area... It seemed like they were all going to destroy each other at some point. Glancing over at Gabriel, his eyebrows rose a bit, taking note that the situation with Evelyn was weighing on the man. He nodded, despite loathing the coven that he was in, “Then... The coven will work on it.” While he had no real intention of helping... Even he was getting a bit unsettled by dealing with the spirits in this limited area. “The vampires hint at power but they remained in control. Elusive. The wolves... I was starting to believe they were just going to destroy one another from the inside out. But that remains to be seen if that will be the case.”

“You don’t have to be.” She gives him a warm and friendly smile. “At least you aren’t one of them.” Her smile widens, assuming he isn’t, but she doesn’t really know him. “But hey, look at it this way–I have met a couple of friendlier ones recently…so they weigh up the scales a little, right?”
She listens as he answers about the town and Amanda finds herself nodding. “I agree. This town holds quite a few mysteries—but finding them out, a few are dangerous and unwelcoming unfortunately.” With some she has met, it makes the brunette witch want to guard what she is more than ever.
She observes the way he retracts his hand immediately, but doesn’t think much of it, purely because she realises some people aren’t very tactile, whereas she can be very much so at times. “You haven’t…not at all…I was just taking a some time out to try and figure out a few things–but it’s nothing that can’t wait.”
People smiling at him always felt odd. Not many find him... Friendly. His indifferent and monotone puts people off. So when one is still being so... Nice. It was odd and he still wasn’t sure how to react. As long as she doesn’t see a reason to attack him, he suppose, then he can be a little... Friendlier. “Balance of a scale is important to a healthy life” He replied, tilting his head to the side in thought.
“Everyone and everything has secrets. Trying to find those can be challenging... And dangerous.” His voice came across matter of fact though he was troubled but the fact that the woman- Amanda- has been finding out some of the mysteries that are Arcadia. It means she might be aware of the dangers around here, or is very close to finding out. If he knew her better he might feel sorry for her, knowing that things will only get worse the more mysteries one uncovers.
Ray moved his head to the other side, observing Amanda and trying to understand her words. “Trying a few things out” He repeated, not quite a question but not a statement. In Arcadia, that could mean a lot of things. Magic, abilities, simply doing homework or something. No one can be certain anymore.

She frowns and finally steps a little closer to him. “They were still wrong to say all that in front of you…there’s ways of dealing with shit like that–it should have been more thought out…not just talking away while a little kid…you…just stands and listens…” Maybe Amber is biased, it’s not like she is good around kids herself, but she remembers how many times she has been spoken about by family and professionals while she is still in the room. Sometimes it’s all about the timing and how things are approached.
She pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs, not really liking the way her mood has shifted drastically. How the hell can she even kick his ass now?—the young wolf doesn’t even feel angry towards him anymore. Although what he did by bringing her father back for night, will have a far bigger impact than Ray can ever imagine. Not that she is going to tell the the extent of it, but it’s something that has taken her a couple of steps backwards from the progress she had made.
“Why did you pull us out if you knew it would drain you?” She raises a brow and looks at him. “That messed with your head didn’t it…it wasn’t something you liked either….it was difficult.”
Amber is thinking about everything that has happened over the last ten minutes, until her train of thought is suddenly reeled in by what Ray says next.
“It happened on Halloween as well.”
Okay, so he now has her full attention and she views him with curiosity in her eyes, listening exactly to what he is speaking about.
“I don’t understand….what were you trying to do then if you didn’t mean to do that on Halloween?” She looks at him as confusion fills her head. Amber wants to understand, she really does.
“Right….you didn’t mean to…I heard you.” She remains silent for a moment, her hues fixed on him as she digests what he has said. “You were gonna say sorry then, right?–but couldn’t quite fuckin’ manage it.” One brow raises and the young blonde does let a faint smile appear on her face. “It’s okay, Ray…I’m completely shit at apologies too.” In truth, there have been so many occasions where she hasn’t meant to do something and yet digs herself a hole and makes matters worse, so can relate to the whole ‘I didn’t mean to’ that he keeps saying.
“Yeah you did deserve being punched…I aint gonna just disagree with you…..” Her tone might sound a little harsh for a second, but her expression softens. Luckily for Ray, she already liked him before all of this blew up, otherwise she still would have been inclined to throw a few more punches. “…..But…I’m not mad with you now. You spoke genuinely…and honestly as far as I can tell.”–and that goes a long way with her.
She just nods when he mentions she now knows one of his weaknesses. There’s nothing smug about knowing at all and it’s not something she will be running her mouth off to tell others about either. “As long as you don’t become an enemy of mine…I won’t be saying shit about this to nobody, okay?” There’s always the chance that his name may crop up with someone she is close to if on about the incident on Halloween–but Amber can keep her mouth shut about the illusion–about the punch and what it did–she can be loyal when it counts.
“Sunshine Ray….” She takes a deep inhales and pats his shoulder. “You’re gonna be fine.”
This might be one of the few times that Ray would admit that Amber was correct. It probably was not a good way to handle things, especially when he wasn’t entirely certain what was happening at that age. As he got older, he became aware that those speaking about him hardly realize that he was right there. Listening. “They did not know what to do with me...” Ray replied, acting of matter of fact. Or trying to. “I have gone to many homes before the Setos decided to adopt me.”
And even then, it was because of what he did. Not because of him.
Ray scowled, not wanting to admit that Amber was, yet again, correct in her assumption that the entire memory bothered him. “There is some things I prefer to keep to myself” He mumbled, trying to not sound like a petulant child. Those memories were things that he hasn’t even shared with Mina, not wanting to burden their bond on his childhood of loneliness and misunderstanding. “It was irrational to leave before the memory really ended. But it was... Necessary. Gradual wouldn’t have been wise during that time.”
Her question made Ray take a deep breath, getting ready to explain his powers. Something that he doesn’t do often, seeing as that most do not understand his abilities. “I... Am Spirit Kitsune... It’s my very being that I can bring up and almost control spirits or the spirit world” He murmured, “Or that is how the Setos have explained it. I have not found much to contradict what they said so I go with their explanation. Hallow’s Eve leaves the veil between our worlds at their weakest... The time where my powers are a negative impact rather than a positive one for me. I... Admit that I needed some form of relief.” That and he still believed that no one in Arcadia is actually mindful of death.
Sighing, Ray just looked up at the sky, not wanting to actually apologize. He wasn’t apologetic about the tearing down the veil itself, but there was a bit of guilt towards Amber and what she might have dealt with seeing her father once more. He actually has, very briefly, dreamed or created the scenario of what would happen should he come across his true parents. Question how they decided to leave him behind. What happen. But the truth might be harsher than what he can dream so it might be easier to just let it go. “You understand more than many believe.”
Everything about him felt... Raw. Like his mask wasn’t put up fast enough and now... Now Amber has seen a part that he has tried to keep sheltered.
Ray just looked at her, his eyes showing that he is sorry even if nothing else could reveal that.
“I... Will try to be honest with you. As much as I can” Ray confessed, “There has really only been one person I have ever been truly honest with... My sister. Not many others have reached that level...” Amber still wasn’t the level that Mina was but... He does not see why he should trick her. Of course some things will be secret, hence he took them out of his memories before they dived in deeper. But any questions that she has he is willing to answer.
Ray chuckled, his mask still not fully on, “You will never be an enemy to me, Amber, unless you try to take my freedom from me... Like the nuisance of a witch has.” He straighten making a face, “That is why I am here. The coven that I have unwillingly been connected to... Has decided to come here. Though I am beginning to understand why.” He shrugged a little, “Of course I will be fine. The healing process has already began and I am feeling a bit stronger than before. Unless... You are meaning emotionally.”

wickedbellamy:
Asia. Japan. Tricksters. Folk Tales. All these words and more were bookmarked and stamped onto a box in her mind she hoped to peer over later, should she actually have the time to do so. He would walk away without answering her, and Bellamy should have noticed it from the start. If she had, she wouldn’t have waited until he’d begun to leave her to speak out.
“Hey.” she called, eyes on the Kitsune who wished to disappear entirely from her sight. She didn’t like finding things out for herself anymore. It felt like an obligation more than something to do out of interest, but this was more the latter. What would a thing like him, whatever he was, have to do with Evelyn, with the coven? Nothing, but – it was far easier in that moment to focus on how he was useful for what he seemed to know. That – as far as she was concerned – would be the only reason she’d ask him to linger.
“Give me a name.”
Her words teetered between a request and an order, like the way the trees struggled to bow to billowing wind. Bellamy had been learning for some time now, how to break her spine in search of the answers she wanted. She hoped not to do more in that instant than was worthwhile, but in the face of something brand new, a bit of her old self peeked through. A piece that was hungry to learn.
Ray raised an eyebrow as he looked at the woman once more, observing her and trying to figure out what was the point of his name. For her to research him? He already told her about him being a kitsune. Beyond that she probably doesn’t need to know, or really care to know, about who Ray as a person was. The foster homes didn’t, the Setos didn’t, and Evelyn didn’t.
Why would a simple woman who spotted him performing his abilities do anything different?
“Ray Vang” He gave her the reply, slightly curious as to what she will do with it. Perhaps nothing. Maybe she will surprise him and look up all the information he has given her. There might be a slim, very slim, chance that she will actually look deeper. Find out the fact that he is connected to a coven that is ultimately going to kill him. Drain him of life the longer his freedom is out of his grasp. Too long he has been denied the chance to be completely free, able to do whatever he desired. All for the sake of his sister... The fact that he would still give her the moon and stars if she asked still meant something.
“Until next time” He gave her a nod, not asking for a name. They were all trapped here anyways. Ray is certain that they will run into each other again, seeing as there is no end in sight for this barrier. Not until dear Evelyn regains her power. Which he secretly hoped was never... That there can be another way to destroy the barrier while she was weak.

Gabriel rolled his eyes and he had to admit that the more his coven friend talked, the more he started to wonder where his true loyalty laid. “There are quite a few safe places for one to hide during the full moon.” On top of that he was working on a remedy, on a way to be able to survive the one bite that could actually kill him. He knew that would not help or protect Ray, but that was not his concern, to be honest. “And I am certain that there are quite a few teachers in this town who might use this opportunity to teach some of those new borns the importance of control.” He took another sip from his drink. “One doesn’t need to kill to satisfy one’s needs. It’s a valuable lesson.” Especially when the blood supply was this limited. “What is a problem is the fact that our supreme has no powers at the moment. Before we solved that, that barrier needs to stay in place.”
Gabriel leaned back and he felt the look on his face hardening. “We locate Evelyn’s powers and once they’re returned safely, we can give those creatures that feel trapped their freedom back.” He took another sip from his drink and he inhaled some fresh air, even though he could live without it for quite some time. Gabriel had never felt like he was part of the coven and he probably wouldn’t have been part of one if it had not been for Evelyn. “I have not come across anyone with my powers and abilities. I do have come across those who desire to reach for the impossible, just like I did.” He thought about Jacob and he wondered how his plan to have both the wolf and vampire abilities was coming together. “But even powerful creatures need powerful allies from time to time.” He squeezed his eyes a little. “Have you met any likely candidates who might be willing to help?”
Ray was curious is vampires truly worked together like that but he refrained from saying anything now. He got enough information from Gabriel, suggestion of a few teachers meaning he is well aware of the older vampires in town. As a kitsune he has never had the luxury of knowing others like him, besides his sister Mina. Who now is almost as foreign to him as the rest of the species in this town. Loneliness was something he was rather familiar with but... He didn’t entirely think he had to deal with it after finding his sister for so long. Perhaps that is why he decided to raise concerns to Gabriel. That and what was the saying? ‘Keep friends close but enemies closer.’ Well, he didn’t have any friends, really, so... “Assumption would be that her powers are dormant, like a barrier or a veil” He said as matter of fact, “Then again, it is rather rare for one to cause such a intense block like this on another.”
The loyalty to Evelyn would be Gabriel’s downfall, Ray decided. While he is being so certain of finding the one that took her abilities, the rest of the coven has been wandering on their own, enjoying freedom. Including himself. At this point, based with the man’s reassurances, Ray could possibly break from the coven and none of them would know or acknowledge it. Which would be everything he wanted. But Mina... “It would seem that we should look into the coven here. As... Evelyn wanted.” The words were bitter in his mouth but one can not reveal their true intentions or emotions. Especially as the plan to just walk away from the coven while the Supreme was nothing has now planted into his mind. “There is certainly something about having the determination and ambition to do the impossible. Would make sense that you all would eventually find each other. Very like-minded individuals tend to gravitate towards each other.” He paused, racing through the minds of individuals, staying quite for a while. “There are a few of the vampires that speak of power. I am more inclined to them than the wolves.” With the exception of possibly the Lykos, who showed raw power but they were in hiding.

“I assume that is something we might find out quite soon.” Gabriel had to admit that he didn’t think the vampires wouldn’t cause much of a problem. Of course, there was this slight chance that the would kill each and every human in town but Gabriel was certain most vampires had discovered the invisible wall around town by now. He was also certain that they had concluded that they might want to be careful with their food. After all, if they wouldn’t kill all their victims, they would never have a shortage of blood. “I at least make sure to keep my murder sprees to an absolute minimum currently. I might not prefer having to feed from the same vein twice, but luckily there is more than one vein in the human body.”
Gabriel was a lot more calm that Ray seemed to be and he took another sip of his drink, calmly looking at one of the pretty red hairs making her way through the crowd. “I will enjoy watching the attempts of this town to free itself. If there might come a moment we can safely make the barrier disappear, we will do so.” Gabriel looked at Ray. “And Evelyn and I might be equals magic wise, there is one thing we do not have in common. I can combine said magical talents with those of a vampire and I do believe that most creatures roaming this earth might have some difficulties with that.” Gabriel curled a corner of his mouth up into a smile. “To be certain we might see if we can find some allies in this town. One never knows what friends can make the difference.” He was talking about Nicolas, but he would not drop that name before he was certain he could trust Ray. And he assumed that might be never.
Ray shrugged, reluctant to admit that Gabriel would have more experience in terms of vampire’s habits. He has seen a few getting on edge, but he figured that with the age that the few he has met, they would have self control. At least the ones that have been around for a long time. Any that might be newborns- if there are any- will have less self control. “You have more control than most” Ray slowly admitted, nearly scowling at that, “And there are others I have... Encountered that their age should show that they have control of anything going awry. The possibility of chaos to happen will not be with you or them but any potential new ones that are lurking. If there are any. Otherwise... We will simply have to hide every full moon due to wolves.” Which is what many already must do so that will be a minimal problem.
Taking a sip of his drink, Ray continued to frown as he felt a tie to the spirit world. In truth, it is always a presence in Arcadia, worse during Halloween and the time that the veil is weak. But still a lingering presence and it puts him on edge how easy it is to summon a spirit around here. “We will need to locate the creature that took Evelyn’s power first” Ray concluded, hoping to set in motion a plan to find them before Gabriel, “I have no doubt of your abilities as she would not have you around nor would you two have been close for so long... Observations of this town would indicate that you are the only kind like this. It would seem an element of surprise is on your side.” He is indifferent to the relationship, but he will say that the hybrid next to him is quite unique. They are both beings that no one in this town has interacted with before. Something that allowed an edge should a fight happen. “Allies have always helped others in times of great need. History has proven that.” He is matter of fact, knowing that the chess pieces are all in line. Now it was a matter of how to move them.

thexdarkxwithin:
Amber will try and remain silent because apparently that is what she is meant to do, but it is very difficult when what she is witnessing is something that has never happened to her and yes, it’s very abnormal too.
The young wolf doesn’t like how they are talking about the small boy as though he can’t even hear them, when in reality it’s quite the opposite. Just looking at his expression it’s clear to see that he can hear and their comments are hitting him hard. Amber finds her brow furrowing and even though she really doesn’t want her emotions to get drawn in to all of this–a ripple of something hits her and she swallows thickly.
“Shit…”
The young wolf doesn’t want to care–she wants to turn around and not have to hear any more of this and walk away. Yet there she still stands, rooted to the spot and transfixed more than she would ever admit. She has more than enough going on in her own life right now, especially with what Jacob did to her–and lets not forget the new alpha in town, Vincent, plus a couple more things. Crap just seems to be piling up left, right and centre. Though one thing Amber realises is that others have their own problems too.
“I was so pissed at you….”
Her words are barely a whisper and she has no idea whether Ray can hear her or not. They weren’t even aimed at him really. The young blonde was thinking out loud and with what she is witnessing at the moment, she might still be angry about Halloween and what occurred with her father–but she no longer feels like hitting him.
Almost in autopilot, she starts to step forwards towards the small boy–wanting to reassure him that everything is just bullshit, but just as she is about to do so, Ray grabs her wrist and makes her jump.
“What the fuck?….”
Before she can object and pull away, Amber watches the real world she knows so well, start to come back, fragmenting and piecing together until every part of the illusion has gone.
“That was you?–well no need to ask…because I know that was you…and …well..fuckin’ hell…I mean…” She lets out a sigh and looks over at him. She can read the chemo-signals and they are different to how he usually is. “That was wrong….what they said….when you were so young…” Now she takes a step forwards, hesitating with her hand to reassure him, but not managing to make contact due to her being her typical self. “Are you okay?…’cause you aint ‘Sunshine Ray’ at the moment….you’re looking like ‘bag of shit Ray’….”
Ray nodded a little, still exhausted though the healing process was slowly beginning. Amber seemed to be trying to put together what happened, something that happen often when one was aware of being in an illusion. It is... Odd to him that a sensation that now seems almost second nature can be incredibly bizarre to others. But that might be because he almost preferred the dream and illusion world, as his reality has become very different to how he wants.
“They... Weren’t wrong” Ray slowly admitted, “That time I didn’t know what I was doing... I just did them.” Sometimes he did it without remorse, feeling angry of being in yet another home. He was remembering those memories, the ones he has forced away. Everything was so carefully compartmentalize in his mind, allowing himself full control of his emotions. His ability.
It is funny how one little memory can unravel a little of the control.
Taking a deep breath, Ray tried to adjust the button white shirt, which seemed to be a bit ruffled. “I will be fine eventually” He murmured, staying silent for a moment before speaking again, “My abilities are not completely unlimited. Pulling us out of the illusion like that drains energy... The healing process is already beginning”
“It happened on Halloween as well” Ray said quietly, looking at Amber, “After tearing down the veil, I slept most of the night and day.” He shook his head, “I didn’t know your father would appear. There are so many spirits around...” It was unbearable, Halloween always is. But Arcadia just seems to be worse, as well as the lack of understanding their own mortality that the citizens of the town have. “I didn’t mean to” He repeated once more, “I didn’t mean to make you see your father. I’m...” Making a face, he did tried to get the words out, an apology, but it couldn’t come to him. It was foreign on his tongue, as he rarely ever had to do one.
“Well, I deserved the hit you gave me” He said indifferently, looking away. Clearing his throat he began to feel less unshaken and uneasy, his stoic mask coming back. “Now you know what I can do” Ray didn’t glance at Amber, “As well as one, rather big, weakness in my kind. Well, one of them.” There was probably quite a few others but for people like Amber, a werewolf, knowing that he can be extremely vulnerable is dangerous. He has given her power, whether or not she is aware of that... He didn’t want to know.
It has been so long since Ray has felt so many emotions. Swallowing, he waited to see what Amber would do, still regaining his energy. He could try to run away if she truly wanted to attack but... That didn’t seem to be what she wanted to do. Then again, he has always thought of her as one that was rather unique. She could actually surprise him in this case.

“Being addicted to coffee is not good for one’s health, that’s why I just usually drink one per day, there are some days that I don’t even drink” coffee was something that he drank, but he wasn’t like some people that couldn’t stay one day without it. “I am better, I just wasn’t exactly in a good place the last time we met, because of something that happened”
“Good for you” Ray shrugged, knowing that one’s health can be a concern for some people. Not everyone was that health conscious though. “Something happened is vague.” In Arcadia that could be a multiple of things. Loss of a loved one. Family, or love, issues. Attack from a vampire or werewolf. Struggles with school or job. Stubbing one’s toe. Really anything could be the reason.

wickedbellamy:
Though Bellamy didn’t like to think about it anymore, even less discuss it, her confidence in herself wasn’t exactly from some inherent elitism. She didn’t think people were better because of what they were or how much money they had. Despite enjoying a power trip every once in awhile, Bellamy was a clueless daughter. She went through a regiment, a formula, and had to check a lot of boxes and jump through a lot of hoops to be deserving of the power she had back home. And even all that training hadn’t been enough. But now it was.
As she listened to Ray explain the history of his people, the name remained foreign. He was teaching her around it, and though Bellamy was listening, she hoped he’d get to the point.
“I wouldn’t be asking if I did.”
“No you wouldn’t” Ray agreed, glancing over at the man slumped over. The lack of knowledge confirms his suspicions that many are not aware of the kitsune lore. Much less that one was roaming around Arcadia. “I would tell you to do some research but... You will not find much. Tales of wives and mothers who became tricksters is something that many civilizations have.” Even more so about his kind. There is the generic tales and stories but he doubt that the Arcadia library or college in the town would have anything remotely useful. Of course a demonstration would be beneficial but that would use more energy and he would need to be a bit careful. Last time he brought someone into that world willingly had gone awry. Looking back at the woman he took a step back, getting ready to walk away.
“I suppose you will simply have to learn and find out” Ray raised an eyebrow, “Hope you were staying in town for awhile.” He was surprise how much he was talking... But perhaps it was the fact that she has already seen him use his abilities. The mask can only stay on for so long after that.

wickedbellamy:
Bellamy’s brows furrowed slightly, her confusion more apparent once she caught his eyes shift into a vibrant, inhuman, hue. The only thing to draw her attention away from them was the man, who’d slumped to the ground, exhausted. She watched Ray take an energy hit too, before telling her to mind her own business in the most formal way she’d ever been told. Bell knew all about the covens in Arcadia, only two, but though she yearned for more information, would be willing to get answers out of anyone by force, she knew patience, for now, must be the way to go.
“I don’t need to talk to them about what I already know.” she answered, her words, in their nature, confident, but her tone lacked the arrogance.
“But I don’t know about this.” she admitted, looking between him and his partner, before murmuring an incantation.
When she blinked, her eyes glowed as his had, and she looked at Ray for a decent beat, before blinking and allowing her chocolate gaze return to it’s origins.
“What are you?”
The confidence from the person in front of him... Ray admired that. As well as her curiosity, since it has been since Amber and one other that has actually has interest in what he does. Or who he actually was. “I will guess that you are not familiar with ancient Asia” He shrugged, “I do not blame you. Many people make the assumption that my kind was only located in one place. Japan. But history is not always what it wants to appear as, does it?” He took a step away from her, more as a reassurance to himself that he can still be in control of some way. He has to, as he can’t let her gain an upper hand. Or he gets to deal with Evelyn’s loyal subjects.
Ray had a ghost smile on his face, “A kitsune. I do not know if you know what that is.” There was few that was aware of the creature he was. And he preferred it that way. If people were aware of him like a vampire or werewolf then more people would try to talk. Or attack. Being what he was allowed him to roam, almost comfortably.
Until he runs into curious creature like the... Witch? He assumes that is who in front of him.
