Wild Plants That Are Cool For Landscaping In Boulder
Anyone who is planning to seriously go for landscaping Boulder must have a fair idea about native plants.  Yes, your landscaping company will come and do its job but there is no harm in having some idea about what kind of plants will go well locally. Boulder County is one of the most awesome places in Colorado, it is located at a point where Great Plains end abruptly and Rocky Mountains starts. It takes both good and bad elements from both these geographical variations. It also gives rise to an amazing diversity in plants, trees, grasses, shrubs, and other such things. There are a number of wild plants that are good for landscaping. The important ones are as follows;
March Bloomers:  There are a few native wild species that bloom before March and are very savvy as compared to Eurasian bulbs. Eurasian bulbs mostly come in during winters only for getting clobbered by lower temperatures. The most suitable species include Townsendia hookeri, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, and Pulsatilla patens.
April Bloomers: There are more and more wildflowers that start kicking in by April bloomers. Prime species include Phlox multiflora, Aquilegia caerulea, and Ceanothus ovatus. The last one is a oval-leaf buck brush which is an exquisite but rare shrub that only grows in some counties in Colorado.
May Bloomers: By May most of the species start embarrassing in terms of flowering. There are a few rare species that may still provide you with some beautiful flowers. Most suitable species include Penstemon virens, Eriogonum umbellatum, Clematis hirsutissima, and Sedum lanceolatum.
June Bloomers: By June, you can have your place blazing with colors. For anyone who works hard with native species, this one is the most rewarding month. Most suitable species are Allium cernuum, Opuntia polyacantha, and Yucca glauca. The last one is the most common species that is why it is avoided by most gardeners. But you should know that there are just a few plants that have an ability to tolerate harsh weather conditions like Yucca glauca. This attribute has provided it with its common name i.e. Great Plains yucca. Also, it is quite effective when you need to form a barrier for pets and children. It grows fast and it is not easy to resist its gorgeous pale yellow florets which get munched as soon as they bloom.
There are many who would question the worth of wild species. Definitely, it is not the best option for all but for anyone who wishes to embrace the grace of wilderness should go for native plants.
