canon verse vanny is, above all else, so fucking scared. she teeters between being utterly under the influence of glitchtrap ( especially during the events of security breach ) and more lucid, but there's part of her that's very much still terrified of him, and to an extent herself. she's not possessed in the traditional sense, she's a vulnerable person being manipulated, and she gets to deal with all the fun trauma and guilt that comes with being manipulated into committing heinous crimes. to her, she is vanessa and vanny is a persona she puts on to do glitchtrap's bidding ( and also distance herself from her crimes mentally ).

dead by daylight verse vanny has basically taken all of that trauma and fear, and had it suppressed to make room for a more efficient killing machine for the entity. she's so far gone that she sees trials as more of a game to win than the horrendous crimes she committed in life ( meta, much? ). she also thinks in primal ways a lot - she's a hunter, a predator, and the survivors are prey for her to catch. this does not mean she cannot be reasoned with or befriended or that a very deep, compartmentalized part of her doesn't feel immense guilt and fear at what she's become. just that it's more hidden. in a way, dbd!vanny is exactly what glitchtrap was trying to create, she's just under the influence of another, more powerful entity!

Unfortunately for Vanny, she has never been taught not to play with her food - especially when she thinks they're trapped with no escape. She loves the chase, revels in seeing her victims lose their spirit even, drunk off of the feeling of power it instills in her. Her basking in his fear slowly morphs into slight confusion as he seems to calm suddenly, only to be cut off abruptly as bright light pierces through her mask ( and fuck, she'd forgotten for a second how wrongly things worked in this place - not even fully covering her face would save her from the sharp pain and disorientation, at least not without outside help ).

The cry she lets out is distorted, followed by an apt exclamation of “ Shit! ”, as she recoils. It's enough for Alan to lose her, darting into the surrounding darkness and out of her line of sight, but also enough to thoroughly piss her off.

“ Oh, you're dead when I catch you…! ” The sing-song, false saccharine tone that she had previously employed slips, the resulting tone almost manic. Despite the bruised ego, she picks herself up with a huff of unsettling laughter - it wouldn't be fun if there wasn't a challenge, would it? She scans the ground, picking up the last faded remnants of the deep scratches that survivors prey leave behind and stalking in that direction - but not without a particularly childish stomp of her feet. Hopefully, everyone was too far away to bear witness to that.

He stays put in his little corner, feeling somewhat safe there for whatever reason. Knuckles almost turned white due to how tightly he was gripping the flashlight in his palm. Like a cornered dog, he becomes agitated. Not because of anger this time, but because of fear. After everything he's been through, why is he still so terrified at times? It wasn't like he was scared all the time, he was usually pretty brave in trials -but for some reason... the bunny was terrifying to him that much was very known.

When she speaks he stares at her for a moment, staring into the red eyes. Goosebumps shiver down his spine for a few seconds, a static, tingling sensation. He's frozen. Like a deer in headlights.

"Nothing... nothing is wrong..."

It's all he can squeeze out of his dry throat. One sentence and it's a lie. Suddenly, it strikes him like a lightbulb - his flashlight! It can help him.. temporarily. But that's all he needs to get away. A small, wry smile creeps onto his face as he knows what to do now.

"As much as I've enjoyed our reunion... I must be getting back to camp, I'll see you later!"

Immediately, he shines his flashlight directly at her face, the light capturing her vision entirely. An instant blind! Yes! It won't last forever and won't last as long due to the dirty, old battery and old lens he used but it's better than nothing. He sprints off as fast as he can. He knows he won't be able to run all the way to camp, he'll have to hide out first. The blind is probably wearing off by now... quickly scanning his environment, he hurriedly crawls into a large, rotten log. Trying to be quiet as possible, he clamps his hand over his mouth. Praying, he won't be found.

Vanny pauses her bouncy approach, although it's moreso due to Alan's frantic, aggressive tone than his actual words. She shifts her weight to one side, regards him through the mesh covered by cartoonish, unseeing red eyes, and then she starts to giggle - as if his distress, his desperation, his borderline feral state is only amusing to her.

“ Why? ” She cocks her head, a caricature of curiosity, but there's an edge to her voice that indicates she knows exactly what she's doing. “ What's wrong, Alan? ” His name is drawn out, almost sang mockingly.

“Stay back! I’m warning you!!”

Eyes blown open, sharp teeth on display, muscles trembling and shaky hands grip his flashlight for dear life. He looked like a feral animal. A cornered, scared dog ready to snap if needed. His upper lip twitches slightly. He takes a step back, his eyes never leaving the person in front of him.

“Don’t come any closer!”
