Exam Evaluation
I feel that my final outcomes link well to the exam theme ‘beginning and/or end’ because my photos represent the change in someones lifestyle over a period of time and the beginning of their childhood transitioning through to the end.
To create my final outcomes I took 2 sets of photographs, one set of someone playing with toys and objects to represent childhood. I also instructed my model throughout the shoot to do different facial expressions so the images would communicate happiness and the innocence of being a child to the viewer. Below is two photographs that I feel were the most successful from this shoot.

For my second shoot for the exam i photographed someone older to represent coming towards the end of childhood/transitioning into adulthood. Also how a person changed from a young age to teenage years. I did this by photographing my model outside in front of a graffiti background. I feel that the graffiti setting for this photoshoot and hand gestures the model was doing represented the way society sees a typical teenager well. Below is a photograph I felt was most successful from this shoot and captured what I was aiming to communicate through them well.

During the exam I edited photographs from my shoot and created polaroid images from them. I felt that the polaroid images represented time changing since polaroid images were used many years ago to develop photos and I mixed this with quite modern looking photos. Examples of this before I printed and rephotographed them are shown below.

When rephotographing my polaroid images for my final outcomes I used both sets of images i had taken and mixed them together in the photographs. I feel putting both of them together communicated how much changes overtime and how big the changes between the start of childhood and transitioning out of it are. I also photographed them separately. Below are the outcomes I feel were the most successful.

Artist analysis: Joshua Suda
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The work above by Joshua Suda uses a collage technique to layer 2 versions of the same image together. This work makes me think about the passing of time. The ripping could suggest violence or abuse because i imagine someone tearing at the paper.  This also adds depth to the image turning it from a photograph to an object.
I think that the artist is trying to communicate someone trying to forget and leave behind their past by ripping the image to show a new modernised version underneath. This could be representing a fresh start.
My work links to the work of Joshua Suda because I used modern photographs representing the passing of time in peoples lives and made them look like polaroids before rephotographing them.

Evaluation: first set of independent photographs
My photographs of lego are linked to childhood. I feel this links to the theme beginning and/or end because childhood is a phase of someones life that starts when they are born and ends when they are grown up and capable enough of being independent.
I chose to photographs the objects I did because they are bright in colour which is another factor that represents childhood and communicates a happy, fun mood to the viewer.
The photograph below is the one I feel is most successful because of the way I used a close up lens to capture one piece of lego almost blurring the rest in the back. If I were to photograph these objects again I would try making different shapes with the objects and see how it would look photographing them not so up close.
