Dolphins in Dubai
Today we had the most amazing luck on our dolphin survey. I was helping out the UAE dolphin project to take photographs for photo identification. Photographs of dolphins dorsal fins are similar to having fingerprints of a human. Each are unique. These photographs are then catalogued to help identify which dolphins are in the area, residency patterns and so on. During the survey we had two sightings! Both groups of over 20 Bottlenose dolphins. We observed them travel, forage and best of all socialise and jump! I absolutely loved it when they were curious and came right up to the boat. The visibility of the water was pretty good as well so you could watch them swim under water for a bit. We also spotted a few adorable little calves. All in all a successful happy day! If you are interested in finding out more about the organisation or how you can help just check this link below. http://wp.uaedolphinproject.org/

Philanthropists and why I love my job
I had the pleasure of photographing a group of philanthropist over the past two days. This was a group of entrepreneurs who had started up their own organisation as well as investors who focused investing only in organisations that can help people live more prosperous lives. One of the best parts of my job is when I get to meet people and be inspired by a group like this. They were brilliant, focused and had amazing ideas that have already helped change the people's lives. Even just being the photographer at the events I could feel the positive energy throughout the place. It was amazing!
The main focus of the events was The END Fund. This organization was started by a family to help end neglected diseases. I think what inspired me the most was that this group of people didn’t just sit around and discuss the problem and state all the statistics of all the suffering in the world. Instead they went over how much the medicine and the organisation has already helped and how to keep moving forward. After watching a short video featuring people in different countries who have been helped you really realise just how easy it can be to help others. A 20 minute surgery can mean someone being able to go outside in the sun again, work for a living, see properly and be out of pain. If you want to know more about the diseases and how they are being helped check out the link below.

I saw you at the beach
You know you stick out when two random people in one day say they saw you last night. Then a few ask to have a photograph with you. Oh small towns in the Middle East.

Back in Dubai
Back in Dubai. It was such good fun doing personal work for a week. Sometimes when you're constantly shooting for a client you can forget how fun it is to shoot just for yourself. I must say I'm looking forward to sleeping in after getting up at 5 every morning. So worth it though, everything is so much more beautiful before the afternoon sun! Zzzz good night!

Making friends in the UAE. Cameras are pretty cool, they are probably the best ice breaker in the world, maybe second to alcohol.

Road Trip Time!
So we went to RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) this morning and Deni got her UAE drivers license in about 20 minutes. Then as soon as we got home the rental company dropped of the car. Not going to lie I wasn't sure if this would actually work out seeing as we left it until the day we're leaving. I love it when things come together in the end!

March Madness
So March comes to an end tomorrow and what a month it has been! Every shoot has been so different and so much fun. It has been the kind of month where one day I’m shooting something like an annual conference for a bank and the next day I’m shooting R&B celebrities. The highlights of this month have definitely been covering Christian Dior’s Informal Fashion Show here in Dubai and assisting on a shoot for Armani. It was held in a beautiful location with such amazing new items for the spring collection. As for the Armani shoot It’s not every day you do a photo shoot inside the tallest building in the world! March has helped remind me why I love being a photographer in Dubai. I was shooting an event on a yacht the other day and took a moment to look at the skyline around. What a cool place Dubai is and what good opportunities come with it. Although I complain about the lack of greenery as a photographer I couldn't ask for much more!

Epiphany
Wow it has only truly occurred to me that I'm doing what I've wanted to do my entire life. I'm a professional photographer, living in a random country taking photographs all around the world. Ten year old me would be so proud. I guess all those hours spent day dreaming as a child paid off.

The next trip.....
So as always I have some itchy feet. Another photographer and I pulled up the world map and decided Nepal would make a good adventure. We're planning to go start of April. We've both been working out butts off in the big city and have decided doing some personal work and getting back to nature would be key right now! Problem is we know little to nothing about Nepal..  research time!
