Uh huh. A roll of eyes comes with the tease, even if he’s cracking a smile and bumping shoulder back against him. “I know.” He says, to both really. “You’ve scared the shit out of me with some of those.” He snorts, vaguely remembering a somewhat recent explosion out front from a certain someone testing a suit. 

“I’m perfectly capable.” He replies, even if he had unintentionally worried him -- but in his defense, he wasn’t supposed to have seen. “More explosions in the lab means less explosions on the field.” He says. “--theoretically.” That wasn’t always the case; but the entities they fought always had something weird up their sleeve.

The, very true, statement gets a giggle out of him, squeezing Tony’s hand gently. “Okay maybe.” He says back, at least offering a kiss on the cheek for it. “To be fair, you usually see me do stupid things in real time instead of recordings.”

He’d better get a kiss after that correct assumption. Regardless, Tony lights up when he’s pecked on the cheek, returning the squeeze. “And boy do I enjoy it.” He teases, lightly bumping shoulder against his. “I have my fair share of moments. Mostly testing-related.” God knows how many times he’d thrown himself across the compound’s courtyard testing endurance of his nanites.

Bucky wastes no time in taking the hand after it being offered, happily falling in line next to him. “I can’t help that my brain damage decided that was important enough to keep.” He grins.

A calloused, weathered thumb gently glides against Bucky’s knuckles, eyebrow quizzically raised his direction. “Which translates to -- JARVIS reminds you weekly.” He smirks.

“Not at all.” He comments back, following along with Tony as he slows his pace. “Oh well good. You’ll have the padding for when you blow yourself up in there.” He teases as he catches up alongside him.

A snort shakes Tony’s shoulders, casually holding his hand out for Bucky to take. “I’m starting to think your forgetfulness is selective.” He squints.

Well now Bucky’s just pouting back at him, especially at getting ruffled up. “Not nice, honey.” He huffs, only pouting more at Tony moving away from him.

“You’re surprised?” Tony retorts playfully, walking further down the hallway, but slow enough to give Bucky the option to follow. “I’ll be in the lab with my full moon.”

Bucky innocently blinks back at the squinting, though smile finally cracks at the words. The kiss keeps the smile on lips even if said pinch following gets a squeaked noise. “You can’t pinch me back after fussing.” He protests. 

Tony pulls back quickly in an effort to avoid retaliation, a silly giggle slipping between his lips. “Just did, sweetheart.” He winks, lightly ruffling Bucky’s hair on his way to part and give him an unobstructed view.

“Uh, no it isn’t. I think the full-fucking-moon just passed by me.” Bucky accuses right back, trying his absolute best not to crack a smile. “Plus your hours will never get any business.”

Tony squints long and hard at the victim-blamer. “You have such a way with words.” His voice drips with sarcasm, but still, Tony’s stepping forward to peck him on the lips, quickly sliding his hand around and pinching his rear in retaliation.

Tony wasn’t modest. Not in the slightest. He’d learned early on Steve wasn’t on the same end of that spectrum. Which was exactly why Tony could drag a genuine, adorable reaction from his boyfriend when he chose to forego the clothes. 

Tonight was one of those nights. Steve had seemed tired, a little run down lately, and he knew just how to cheer his little guy up. A nice surprise before bedtime ought to do him good. 

The doorknob turned, just as Tony slipped the last of the fabric off his heel, turning head to lock eyes with blonde. 

“Hi honey. You’re just in time.”

“For the thousandth time,” Tony stifled a hiccuped breath, thudding head lightly against the door. “I don’t need a counseling session.” His hand ran down forehead, covered his eyes, silently threatening himself to keep the panic to a minimum. 

“I’ll be fine, kid.” It was a lie, but if the lie ceased Edward’s worrying – hurrah.

Sweat plastered tank-top to skin, throat sore from a terrified yell Tony hadn’t even realized he made. His voice cracked, sucking in air unevenly as he did his best to remember where he was, and whose voice was beside him. 

Shaky hands found the cold of a prosthetic, and Tony swallowed, gripping it tightly as if his life depended on it. 

“God–” He didn’t have the spare breath to say much else, burying his head into the warm chest of his boyfriend. Breathe, Tony, breathe.  “’m sorry–” It came as a whimper, muffled by the fabric of Bucky’s shirt.

“Yeah, I figure. At least, take a break for now,” Steve replied, gently stroking the man’s cheek with his thumb, still with the smile. He perfectly understood that tinkering was what Tony did best, though sometimes the blond wished that he didn’t have to force himself not to sleep for days whenever he tried to make something new. 

He chuckled, humming in content when he got more little kisses from Tony. “Then take a seat, food will be ready,” he continued, palming Tony’s hand with his own before leaning forward to give the man a chaste kiss on the cheek. “I hope you don’t mind me putting more veggies on the club sandwiches,” Steve put the said sandwiches on top of a plate and placed them on the counter top, right in front of Tony. “I’d like to offer you more coffee, but I think you had way too many already.”

Tony chuckled, eyes softening with the gentle thumb that ran across his cheek. He was always looking out for him, wasn’t he? Worrying about his sleeping patterns, how and when he ate -- and of course, providing him with ways to satisfy each. “Yes, dear.” Tony mused, winking softly down at Steve as he followed instructions, and pulled a chair to slump tiredly into. 

He curled his fingers around Steve’s, smile widening at the warm lips to his cheek. “Not at all.” Tony turned his attention to the carefully crafted sandwiches. “When in doubt, go healthy.” And they did look delicious and healthy. Calloused fingers wrapped around the top sandwich, lifting it to mouth for a nice, crunchy bite. “Mm. You never disappoint.” Tony complimented after he swallowed, leaning forward for a proper kiss to Steve’s lips. 

The comment had Tony rumbling in amusement, free hand gently brushing back through Steve’s soft, blonde hair. “Yeah,” Tony admitted, lip twitching in a smirk. “Water sounds like a smarter choice.”

Although his intention hadn’t been to scare Steve, the result was equally as adorable. His lips twitched in amusement, loosening his grip so the other could easily turn to face him. 

“That’s what I like to hear.” He rumbled, tired eyes drooping at the gentle touch to his cheek. A soft turn of Tony’s head placed his lips into Steve’s palm, kissing it softly. How sweet was he, making lunch? It certainly lifted Tony’s mood -- considering he couldn’t hardly touch a stove without setting his own house on fire. “I doubt I’ll ever finish tinkering.” He teased, leaning down for a second, longer kiss to Steve’s head. 

When he stood up properly, Tony gently ran his own fingers across Steve’s cheek. “Lunch sounds great. I’m starved.”
