Sorry to be obnoxious for a second but i think its a bit jarring when people will draw their ttrpg character or oc or whatever as like a big lovable sensitive gay nerd but still have this like generic fantasy armor on that communicates an implicit intent for violence BUT violence has been so abstracted in the context of the subject that it isn't really equivalent to real world acts of violence at all. now thats wordy but in a practical sense think about a "modern" version being like your big lovable sensitive gaY nerd character always wearing a kevlar vest and open carrying an assault rifle

I think the weirdest form of fatphobia I keep bumping into is writers suddenly becoming deeply concerned with physical realism when a fat character is involved even in contexts where everybody's physical capabilities are explicitly bullshit. "They're fat, it wouldn't make sense for them to have super speed" and it would make sense for the 98-pound twink to be able to run at Mach Fuck? That's something skinny people can do in real life, is it?

“orcs” don’t even have a folkloric background from which to draw; your orcs are an imitation of tolkien’s, and tolkien’s orcs cannot be extricated from the racism they’re written with. you are not the one to deconstruct this. you will not put a new spin on orcs. you will not redeem orcs. if dnd is your worldbuilding inspiration you need to put the manuscript down and take a hard look at what the art you create implies about biological determinism and racial supremacy. why do orcs as a concept go unquestioned in your world? what about orcs makes enough sense to you to justify their inclusion? why have you chosen to write about a violent, aggressive, and barbaric “race” with low intelligence? you’re doing orcs differently? okay. why?

I think polyamory should be used to make romance subplots even more convoluted, actually. Sure, it could theoretically solve a love triangle- but it could also make things infinitely more chaotic and that's way better.

Some excerpts from Hal Shrieve's article on Alison Bechdels new book, Spent, that make it abundantly clear she has completely lost the plot lol

the recent slight increase in (cis) women rapists written by #progressive writers has its little positive aspects of "awareness" and somewhat questioning of the ontological cafab innocence. but unfortunately majority of people are clueless / misinformed as to the power dynamics and systems that allow sexual assault to happen in the first place therefore the writers of such stories tend to be in that group too, resulting in slightly goofy depictions unrealistic & even insensitive to how such sexual assault where the perpetrator is a cis woman tend to happen

i always thought it was silly that people would get so pedantic & heated over the idea of fantasy novels using words derived from real locations like "champagne" or "lesbian" or whatever. "a fantasy setting cant have words that are dependent on real-world context" i have bad news for you about all words
