Dan saying the “when you dream about me?” question was a trap mmmmh so you agree that admitting you dream about Phil is incriminatingly romantic?

[Video Description: Text reads, ‘ngl as a disabled person one of my biggest pet peeves is when people try to act like it’s ableist to prioritize diy and sustainable fashion. sure diy can be harder for us (literally everything is) but it’s also a hugely accessible hobby that empowers a lot of disabled people and it’s lame to weaponize a group of people just so you can justify shopping fast fashion.’]
Reposting this here because I think a lot of people need to hear this. It really annoys me when people try to make the argument that prioritizing DIY in punk/alternative subcultures is ableist.
I’m not saying that disabled people who can’t DIY don’t exist, because they do and we shouldn’t fault them for it. My problem is with non-disabled people who flaunt our experiences to convince people that DIY is inaccessible, just so they can feel better about supporting fast fashion.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that DIY is one of the most accessible hobbies. There’s a relatively low barrier to entry, with tutorials and information being freely available to anyone with internet access who is willing to learn.
I’ve spent days bedbound where the only thing I could do to occupy myself was sewing. And when I’ve talked with other disabled people, a lot of them have echoed the same sentiment, that DIY empowers them to feel creative during times where they fail to meet traditional standards of productivity. It’s ignorant to pretend that DIY and disability are incompatible, when for many people, the hobby is inextricably linked to their identity as a disabled person.
Point being, never underestimate the power or resilience of disabled people. There’s something so human about the desire to create, and the fact that so many of us look for inventive ways to participate despite resistance from our own bodies is powerful

I saw someone mention this on Twitter but apparently nobody over here has noticed so I’ll be the one to point it out.
If you look in the background of the 2023 Halloween baking video, you can see that Dan and Phil own THESE salt and pepper shakers

Yeah man I’d be annoyed if this was in front of me while I was eating too
