Hurricane Season Projections
There’s an increased likelihood that this year’s Atlantic hurricane season will be above-normal now that the irregular weather pattern known as El Niño has faded, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Thursday.
Scientists now predict 10 to 17 named storms throughout the season, which runs June through November. Five to nine of them could become hurricanes, including two to four major hurricanes Category 3 or higher with winds of 111 mph or greater.

ICE Your Phone
ICE is an acronym that stands for “in case of emergency."
Insert the word ICE before the people you’d like called in case of an emergency. That way, paramedics and other emergency workers will know whom to call if you're incapacitated and they find your phone.
For example, let’s say you want your husband, Steve Smith, and your mother, Jane Simon, to be called if there is an emergency. Your cell phone entries might be: ICE-Steve Smith and ICE-Mom Jane Simon.
Most paramedics now know what ICE means and they look for it. This saves them time, so your loved ones are contacted more quickly.
Tip: Always place ICE before more than one name in your cell phone in case the first person doesn’t answer right away. You can even use ICE1, ICE2, ICE3… to designate the order you’d like the paramedic to call people.
Added benefit: If you lose your cell phone and someone honest finds it, they’ll have more options of whom to call to get the phone back to you.
INFORM your ICE Contact that you have chosen them as your designated contact and provide them with information that may affect your treatment. Remember MAD or “M” “A” “D”.
Medicines –List all current medications you are taking, including herbal and organic supplements because they can and do interact with some medications.
Allergies – List all known allergies, especially to medications, but also to foods.
Doctors – Include the names and phone numbers of doctors or other medical providers responsible for your regular care.

Financial Disaster Recovery
In the midst of devastation lives the uncertainty of what comes next. For millions of individuals, families, and businesses affected by natural and man-made disasters each year, the financial impact of the occurrence, especially for people in underserved communities, is extensive.
Faced with the financial reality of property damage, job loss, business interruption, credit issues, and debt, disaster survivors need the support of HOPE Coalition America (HCA) – America’s first line of response for financial recovery.
HCA is the only financial emergency preparedness and recovery service in the country. Through partnerships with the American Red Cross, FEMA, and industry leaders, our teams deploy in response to federal-declared disasters to serve as a financial advocate for local homeowners, renters, and small business owners.
Through the HOPE Crisis Hotline and HCA on-site counseling centers, our financial wellbeing coaches help survivors mitigate credit issues, develop emergency budget counseling, communicate with creditors, obtain SBA loans, prevent foreclosure, and prepare for the future.

Catastrophe Savings Accounts
Establishing a Catastrophe Savings Account (CSA) can help you pay for your deductible and other out of pocket costs. Similar to health savings accounts, the money can be set aside state income tax-free and used in the future to pay for qualified catastrophe expenses that result from a hurricane, flood, or wind storm event that has been declared an emergency by the governor.
