Help a refugee student from غaza while he’s trapped in Egypt!

Ahmed is an art therapist and educator whose work in غaza focuses on developing methods for treating child trauma. He has an acceptance to a Master’s in Europe where he will continue to develop his practice so he can return to healing the children of his country—a need that has unfortunately only grown.

I have been in touch with Ahmed since he was exiled last spring (a year ago exactly). In Egypt, refugees from غaza have no rights, including to work—meaning Ahmed is reliant on the kindness of strangers & his international friends to cover his rent and other expenses while he waits for his student visa.

We have a modest goal so as to cover Ahmed’s needs for the next few weeks. I’m in daily contact with Ahmed who is also my dear friend & family. @gothhabiba and I both collect on his behalf and you can see all of our transactions in our accountability doc below.

Help a young dad of two toddlers in غaza! 🌸

🌱 For a year I’ve been in contact with H, a young dad who is doing his best to keep his two toddlers alive after the destruction of their home.

🌱 H is a delightful, shy, sweet person, who always sends me the latest about his adorable little ones, updates on his family’s wellbeing, and, on Fridays, his prayers for my health.

🌱 They are terrified but persisting in hope. After months in a crowded tent, your support got them medical treatment after a life-threatening injury; food and supplies; and some shelter in an apartment, which has been crucial to their survival, especially protecting the kids from hypothermia and the whole family through numerous illnesses and medical emergencies.

Your help has truly saved this family more than once. Our task is simple—keeping this sweet family housed another month.

H’s family has requested privacy regarding their names & images and has requested I handle raising funds for them. I send all funds directly to them (and cover any fees myself). You can see all donations and my transactions to them in the doc below.

Help Basma pay rent BY FRIDAY 1/24!

Basma is the sole provider for her family, after losing most of them in the genocide. I've been helping her to get funds for a laptop so she can work remotely to support them, but there is a more urgent need that I'm asking for your help with.

Basma is losing her housing, and will need to relocate by Friday. Rent is going up and up as people try to return to their homes, which means Basma needs about €700 by Friday to secure housing for herself and her family.

Art donations needed to save a life!

URBC has put out an urgent call for artists to sign up to donate works - both digital and physical - to raise £5,000 for Sue.

Sue is a Black mom studying for her PhD in the UK who is dealing with a terminal illness and is now facing possible removal from the country no thanks to her university, which has unsurprisingly but evilly put her in this position during her serious complaint against her PhD advisor. Right now, Sue is on an organ donor list and working to test relatives as donors so that she can survive. If she is made to leave the UK, she will likely die due to the interrupted care and inadequate treatment for her condition in Nigeria.

The artwork will be listed as prizes for a raffle fundraiser starting next week. The money will go to the costs for indefinite leave to remain based on her health condition. A full breakdown is listed on her GFM.

Urgent help needed today (26 Feb) for migrant student facing removal from his course and the UK

Muhammad is a postgraduate student at University of Stirling (UK). Last year he was detained under horrific conditions in a detention center on bogus charges. His university hasn’t helped at all with his living costs or tuition fees and has used mental health meetings to hound him for his tuition. Now they say they’re removing him from his course tomorrow, Tuesday 27th February, just months before his graduation date. This will also end his visa and force him to leave the country.

Unis Resist Border Controls have given four urgent actions to help Muhammad TODAY (Monday 26th). Please take action and share widely! If you have an university email address and are comfortable, use that when writing to the vice chancellor.
