I've started working in a local pub in the little town in the south of Sweden where I currently live. The locals are fiercely local. They do not take well to change, and a new face in "their" bar is a source of confusion, interest, curiosity and a silent, smoldering fury.

A classic small town scenario. I'd forgotten what the reality is like in these kind of places. I grew up someplace quite similar and the memories are coming back to me. Last night there were two fist fight, and case of suspected domestic abuse and a river styx brimming with cheap liquor and tomorrow's anxiety. Bleakness on the edge of town.
