will shooting the fiery arrow has got to be one of my fav moments of the series
(Wait a minute, does he do so twice? One being the first one with the kalkara, the second time being for the bridge?)

A project I did for my media experimentation class. We had to do warm colors, then overlay with tape and paint cool colors, then tape again. It was really fun!!

I wonder after Will was kidnapped how many hours Halt stood in the water on the beach looking after him, how many times after he returned Gilan or Crowley had to ask him "What happened?" How many times they had to ask him the question because he just stared at them with blank eyes, how many times he had to force himself to eat and drink try to calm himself that nothing would happen to him,how many times he tried to convince himself that Will would not end up like his parents, how many times after long nights people noticed that his eyes were red and whispered in each other's ears
How many times he said to himself, if only I had been faster, if only I had caught up earlie How many nights he eat himself up trying to catch that Foldar thinking that time was passing, that it was running out, that he was losing Will, how many days and nights did his so-called betrayal, his arrest, his arraignment, the taking of the oak leaf from him, giving up everything, losing everything, even though there was no guarantee that he would find Will alive or dead, stabbed him like a dagger in the heart
How many times did he drown in guilt, thinking that his mother, his father, and now him, too, had died and would die because of him,How many times he kept telling himself that he would find him, but fearing that he was already dead, his heart ached worse than the wound that hurt the most How many times, even on the road with Horace,he not taste what he ate or drank, how many times did he choke on his food wondering if Will had too eaten anything at all, how many times did he feel so empty, lost and how many times did he realize that he understood so well now the parents whose children had died in the war
How many times Horace woke up in the middle of the night to find Halt staring blankly out the window and still not asleep, how many times he stayed up all night wondering if the ship was sinking, if he was scared, if he was hungry, if he was alive, how many times he wondered if he would be able to give him the bow he had made every time he picked it up to make it, how many times he didn't notice the tears welling up in his eyes as he thought about it, how many times he woke up with nightmares about him dying.
And how many times, even after he found Will, he kept checking to see if it was real?

Dave Filoni is continuing the story he began in Rebels. It is exactly what Hera Syndulla described:
“It was a simple story about a boy who was lost, and a girl who was broken.”
Ezra has been found. Sabine has been healed.

I’ve spent so long looking at Sabine’s Epilogue Armor that I think I’ve forgotten how significant it is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There really are so many tributes to Ezra. The purrgil, the orange, the blue eyes, and the purrgil tentacles. Even those ears - be they wolf or cat - could be for him. Those vambraces are useful and a reminder of Fenn Rau, but also she received them when Ezra was training her.
Sabine’s armor was inherent to her identity as a Mandalorian, so it wasn't just a suit or a uniform or a set of clothing to her. And more than that, as an artist, she took it one step further by using it to express and communicate what was important to her as an individual as well.
Tumblr media
My armor tells you where I come from, but it also announces what makes Sabine Sabine - if you know how to read the visual clues.
So, therefore, post-Rebels Sabine spent a chunk of time in armor covered in visual clues that told us that it was mostly Ezra who made Sabine Sabine.
But at some point, Sabine stopped wearing her Mandalorian armor. Her second skin. The most personal expression of herself. She gave up what made Sabine Sabine.
But not completely. Because to replace her second skin, her most personal canvas, the one covered in reminders of Ezra…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…Sabine chose clothing, a new second skin, that was strongly reminiscent of Ezra. His colors. A similar style.
The weight of the decision to remove and replace her armor, something that meant so much to her culturally and to her personal identity, necessarily meant that its substitute would have been something of equal significance and of an equivalent comfort level. It wouldn’t have been a choice she made lightly.
“Ezra” was the only message, the only feeling, the only expression that carried over from her Mandalorian armor to her civilian clothes.
Ezra meant as much to Sabine as her armor did.
Ezra meant safety, home, and “Sabine” as much as her armor did.
In his absence and in her grief, Sabine continued to keep Ezra close to her always and communicated to us and to people in universe what (or rather who) made Sabine Sabine.

Nobody, not even the Ahsoka show itself, can convince me that these two don’t have feelings for each other

I gotta say, I love how offended Sabine was When Ezra first refused his lightsaber, and then one of her blasters
Ezra. Ezra sweetie. A Mandalorian is trying to give you her WEAPONS

It has to be said (again especially now that it is confirmed confirmed that it is Kanan’s knife Sabine used (from the bts in the Ahsoka steelbook dvd))
The parallel of Kanan cutting his hair before going to rescue Hera and then Sabine cutting her hair before going to find Ezra is just 👌🤌
It is one of the many parallels between the two pairs.
Kanan going to resuce the love of his life and mother of his child.
Sabine is going to rescue someone who I would argue she is in love with and is the love of her life.
The parallel is not a coincidence

So my shitpost provoked a salty response from a Thrawn stan which is… kind of typical really but for the record, fandom:
1. Having a laugh at a character’s expense =/= character hate.  Yeah that’s still throwing me, apparently I’m not allowed to enjoy Thrawn getting his ass whooped or I’m a bad Thrawn fan or something.
Look I love the guy but there’s no way I’m letting him live down the fact that he got whooped by a seventeen year old and his whale friends, okay, that shit is just too funny.
2. A plot twist you don’t like =/= Deus Ex Machina.
Ezra’s ability to connect to and utilize animals in battle was established all the way back in Season One, and there was an entire episode about him befriending and empathizing with the purrgil.  Their reputation as spaceship crushers with the ability to travel hyperspace was also established the same episode. They didn’t do anything they weren’t already capable of doing within the rules of the universe and they didn’t come out of nowhere, Ezra asked them to come.  A solution to a narrative problem that is already established in the text and actively sought out by the characters cannot be a Deus Ex Machina, which must come from outside and irregardless of the characters’ actions.
Their appearance in the finale was a perfectly logical narrative decision that was both in-character for Ezra and thematically consistent with the underlying message of empathy and odd friends coming together for a common purpose out of love for each other, which also respected Thrawn’s legitimacy as a threat because let’s face it, you can’t take Thrawn out through conventional tactics, you have to throw something at him that he never could have possibly anticipated.
Half an episode earlier the boy had brought wolves to a ground battle, you really didn’t think he’d bring space whales to a space battle?
Like, I’m sorry it’s so embarrassing for Thrawn (no I’m not, really) but them’s the beans sometimes?
If you wanna talk about Deus Ex Machina let’s discuss Thrawn’s original defeat and how Timothy Zhan wrote himself into a corner so bad he needed a whole string of contrived coincidences and bad luck and Noghri life debt bullshit to get himself out of it.

That's right, Ezra, just... him!!
Ah, yes, him and his intense need to get into trouble by time traveling...
