Thursday a the bothy: Today we got shown around the show and the curator Julian that help put together. She told us about how the show was put together and why certain works had to go into specific rooms and how they got them to the gallery. It was very fascinating to find out all this information, usually when we are giving a tour it is about what the artwork is about.

Walk for walk sakes: Thursday This was another one of the task we had in the first week. For this task we had to go for a walk with no purpose and we were not aloud to plan the walk, so really we were just to wonder wherever we wished. I choose to have a walk around Princess Street, and this was because I really like looking at the shape within the buildings. When I was drawing this is what I used for inspiration. These photos are just collection that I gathered from the walk.

Day 3 project (last Wednesday) This was part of the first week of our new project and one of the task we where given over the week. The task was that we where split into groups of 4 or 5 and were given a limited amount of materials; string& tape. We were then given a place to go within the college and were told we had all day to do an installation. I really enjoyed this task as it got me work collaborative with the people in the group which is something I'm not use to so it was good experience, I really got into using the tape as I really loved how clean It looked against the walls or glass and when I was using the tape I felt more happy make geometric shapes.

Mira Ruido;
After looking at Ruido she influenced the way I worked has I wanted to create a surrealist look to my collage in my project. I think she is very influenced by the surrealist movement. I like the fact that she used vintage images with modern backgrounds and then she puts them together digital.

Don McCullin;
Born 1935, Know as a British Photojournalist  is best know for his war photography. McCullin's serviced a National Service in the RAF saw him posted to the Canal Zone during the 1956 Suez Crisis, and he worked as a photographer's assistant, sadly he failed to pass the written theory paper necessary to become a photographer in the RAF, so spent his service in the darkroom, during this period Mcculin bought his first camera a Rolleicord. In 1959 he took of a local London gang was published in The Observer. In 1966 and 1984, McCullin worked overseas correspondent for teh Sunday Time Magazine, which he recorded ecological and man-made catastrophes such as war zones, amongst them Biafra in 1968 and victims of the African AIDS epidemic. McCullin covered the Vietnam War and Northern Ireland conflict.
The Photograph of a shell-shocked US marine during the battle for Hue in 1968,this an iconic image of the Vietnam War. McCullin has capture a solider at a week and vulnerable point after being out in combat, I think the image show the strength of the American Miltary might has asgainst any of it enemy, it also show how strong America is as a country. You as a viewer make eye contacted with this images and this itself make the image powerfully and stand out. You can see the horror in this Soldiers eyes, I feel it is a very dramatic image, a harsh reality of what man is capable off.

Lalage Snow;
Lalage Snow is a photographer, journalist and film maker and she graduated from the University of Bristol in 2002 with a degree in Ancient History. Snow worked a lot of different national and international publications as a writer before going on to inhans her visual skills by completing a Masters at the London College of Communication in 2007 in Photojournalism as well as Documentary Photography. After this she has worked as a stringer for Agence France Presse and freelanced in the Middle East, Europe, central and South Asia before moving to Kabual, Afghanistan.
Snow has worked for the Daily Telegraph, Granta, Look, The Glasgow Herald, Glamour Magazine, The Daily Mail, The Sunday Mirror and many more. She has also work on projects with Oxfam, Afghan Aid, Save The Children, Human Rights Watch and Women for Women International.
The Photographs above are from her 8 month long project;  We Are The Not Dead which consisted of portraits of British Soldiers before, during and after their deployment in Afghanistan. I feel that in these images Snow captures the innocent expressions of the soldiers before there deployment then the faces transform into gaunt, sullen faces less in a year. I find these images moving because I find there is a story within the men's eyes. I think that Snow is try to show the physical changes within the one solider when they where stationed in a war zone. You can see that time is sped up for these men because they have been under the beating sun, amidst combat, regardless of age the boys that went in they come back looking like men with experiences beyond their years. I find the last images the most powerful because of this to see such a dramatic change in these men some the same age as myself or younger and to think of the things they have seen is not even worth thinking about. I feel the Snow has portered these men in a heroic and powerfully way.

I have been using Photoshop to photograph to manipulate, photograph i have found on Google. I think the first photo is rather ironic as it show a group of soldiers , I wanted to get the message across that we and they are blind towards how much devastation that has been caused to these country.
