I started this fic back in 2019 and never posted it to this blog, but I’m rectifying that now that I decided to update it five years later. I hope maybe this will find some new audiences who will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

Sharon Carter & Peggy Carter · MCU
"I shall pretend to be surprised to find you working at your own birthday party."
"Aunt Peggy!" Sharon broke into a wide grin as she looked up from her textbook, but she didn't move from where she was sat cross-legged on her bed with a set of highlighters laid out in front of her. Peggy wasn't a hugger, and she preferred to go to people rather than let them come to her. "I'll be down soon," she assured her, "I just want to make sure I'm ready for my test on Monday."
"Ah, yes. Your mother did say you were top of the class. You wouldn't want to lose your reputation," Peggy said as she made her way over.
"And the sooner I can finish college, the sooner I can work on joining SHIELD."
Peggy didn't look surprised, and Sharon wouldn't have said anything if she'd expected her to be. In fact, Sharon thought she could see the slightest hint of a smile on her red-tinted lips as she sat down in front of her on the bed. Her great-aunt was pushing 80, but Sharon was convinced she'd never met a more elegant woman in her life, and she could only hope that some day she would look just as put together.
"Your mother certainly didn't say anything about that," Peggy noted.
Sharon exhaled, putting her open textbook down and taking a clump of her long blonde hair in her hands to fiddle with it. "She still thinks I'm going to change my mind," she explained.
Peggy gave a small nod. "I brought you something," she declared, making Sharon look up again. She handed over a rectangular white box with a silver ribbon wrapped neatly around it. "Happy Birthday, Shaz."
Sharon grinned again and eagerly began to tug at one end of the ribbon. It came apart easily and she opened the lid of the box to reveal her birthday gift: a stylish black thigh holster. Sharon's eyes grew wide as she looked at it then at Peggy, and when she picked it up to get a closer look, she saw that on the inside it bore an inscription in white: her initials, "S.C.".
"Oh my God," she said softly, "Aunt Peggy, can I...?" Sharon reached out her arms, raising her eyebrows hopefully.
"Oh, go on, then," Peggy declared, and Sharon leaned forward to hug her with a delighted laugh.
"Thank you so much. You really think I can do it?" Sharon asked, pulling away to sit back against her cushions. Had she been speaking to anyone else, she wouldn't have shown even a hint of uncertainty about her own abilities and the decision she'd made, but that didn't mean she didn't frequently have doubts in her mind. If Peggy believed in her, though, then she felt as though that was all that she really needed.
"I think you shouldn't completely ignore your mother. She loves you and she wants to be safe and happy, as do I," Peggy answered, "But I also know that you, my darling, are brilliant, and formidable, and capable of absolutely anything. Not to mention I know that nobody could have stopped me at your age from doing what I believed to be right."
"I can't just...I don't know, marry some guy and go be a real estate agent in the suburbs, not when there's so much happening in the world that I think I could be helping with," Sharon explained, "That'd keep me safe, but it wouldn't make me happy."
"I know," Peggy assured her, taking her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze, "But it is your 21st birthday, which is rather an important one in this country, and you are allowed to go out and get sloshed for a night."
"Sloshed? I like that one," Sharon said with a small chuckle, "I will try to enjoy myself, I promise."
"Yes, do," Peggy insisted, "And please go dancing."
"Dancing?" Sharon echoed.
"You'll never regret having danced, Sharon. I can promise you that."

Sam Wilson & Sharon Carter · Marvel (Earth 202)
This was written as part of the Marvel RP I have going with friends and inspired by beautiful artwork by @chimerrobang! The art is pinned over on @samsharonsource, so definitely go check it out. I really do love writing these two.
Warning! M-rated for smutty references.
Sharon was already half undressed by the time Sam was stepping into their bedroom, his hands resting on the bare skin of her thighs as he carried her through the open doorway, past a pile containing her jeans and his t-shirt. She kissed his shoulder nearest to where her left hand was curved around his neck, while her other one toyed playfully with his nipple. "Who'd have thought the idea of sex in a regular bed could be this exciting?" she teased.
"I like to think it's the who that makes it exciting, not the where," Sam said, and Sharon could feel some color rising in her cheeks. He set her down on the edge of their comparatively old mattress atop their new bed, kissing her lips just before he pulled off her loose-fitting top.
"I agree," Sharon replied, reaching for his belt buckle, "Thank God I have you."
"Says the person who taught me how to tango," Sam noted, one eyebrow raised and eyes gleaming in that way that always made Sharon smile. Even though it wasn't necessary to get rid of his pants, she whipped his belt out from the loops holding it in place and Sam chuckled.
"Says the person who's already fucked me in almost every room in this apartment," Sharon teased back. Her hands went for his fly next, swiftly and deftly unfastening the top button and pulling down the zipper.
"How do you always sound so good when you say 'fuck'?" Sam muttered. Sharon grinned, leaving a kiss behind on his stomach and then tugging on everything he was wearing from the waist down. His pants and boxer briefs slid down to his feet, after which Sharon sat back on her hands and bit down on her bottom lip as she looked him up and down.
"You're very hard to argue with when you're almost naked," Sam admitted. He reached for his girlfriend to pull her to her feet by the waist, both of them laughing into their shared kiss.
"I'll keep that in mind," Sharon murmured back. It was rare that she and Sam had any serious arguments; most of their disagreements were better described as playful banter, and despite their relationship being relatively new in the grand scheme of things, she thought that was a good sign. "How about totally naked?" she questioned, Sam just having unclasped her bra.
"Then I'm just a lost cause," Sam replied. He hooked his thumbs into her panties and soon after they joined her bra on the floor, allowing her entire body to press against his skin as he brought her in closer and kissed her again. Sharon thought she might in fact be the lost cause, since she could barely remember what they were arguing about as his tongue beckoned the desire flittering low in her stomach.
"I should get us a condom," she murmured, barely pulling away.
"I'll get it," Sam offered, "You can test out our new bed if you want."
Sharon nodded with a grateful smile, her hand moving to run absently through her hair after Sam had pressed one more quick kiss to her lips and left for the bathroom. She only had to take a few steps back to sit herself back down again, and it was as her skin touched the bedsheets that her eyes fell on the large mirror on the wall across from her.
"Babe, do you think we should move that mirror?" Sharon asked. She had shifted back a little on the bed by the time had Sam emerged from the bathroom a couple of minutes later, but her gaze was still directed at her reflection.
Sam looked a little confused until she nodded at the wall, and then he shrugged his shoulders. "We can if you'd like," he answered, "You don't like it there?"
"Well, when our mattress was on the floor I just didn't realize that it was...bed height," Sharon explained. Sam smiled then, his expression somewhere between amused and intrigued as he continued to walk over to her.
"I'm not sure I see the problem," he admitted, "But if you feel weird about it, that's alright. We can put it somewhere else."
Her naked boyfriend had been enough to distract her attention away from anything else, but Sharon still felt there was something niggling at the back of her mind that was preventing her from fully relaxing. She reached her hands out for him, suddenly craving his touch again. "I think it's more that I feel like I should feel weird about it," she said eventually.
"That's a slightly different ballgame," Sam remarked. He didn't immediately come to join her and she was almost disappointed, until she realized that he was walking around to the other side of their bed. Sam dropped the condom packet on the sheets and only settled himself down once he was sitting behind her, crouching so that his chest pressed into her back and his hands could come to rest on either side of her waist. He met her gaze in the mirror, where she smiled back at him, and slowly began to run his hands up either side of her body, leaving her breasts covered in goosebumps and her nipples pert. When he reached the underside of her arms, she lifted them to wrap around his neck, letting out a small, contented sigh.
"God, you're beautiful," Sam murmured, and she certainly felt it as she leant back into his embrace while he kissed the side of her neck.
"We look very good together," Sharon breathed, her smile only growing wider. A sudden, unbidden thought came to her mind of what it might look like to see Sam's cock sliding in and out of her in the mirror, and she closed her eyes. "Alright, you've convinced me," she declared, "The mirror stays."
She could feel Sam grinning against her cheek. "I love you," he said in her ear.
"I love you," she said in return, her voice soft before she teased him, "Maybe you were right about not being the only exciting one."
"Maybe?" Sam's tone was one of playful protest. "I'm dating a spy with an amazing mind and an amazing body. Don't take that away from me."
"I wouldn't dare," Sharon promised. Sam brought his lips to the skin of her neck again, making her shiver pleasantly, and kissed her there as well as along her shoulders. This wasn't a position they were often in, usually preferring to be looking at each other even during foreplay, but Sharon thought there was something to be said for it as she felt his erection pressing against her lower back.
"Sam?" Sharon soon had his attention, her arms slipping through his fingers so she could take one of his hands in her own. She guided it back down her body the way it had come but took it lower still, past her bellybutton until it reached the mound between her thighs. "Would you...?"
"Absolutely," Sam replied. Sharon let her legs fall open to give him better access, and she didn't miss that his eyes flickered towards their reflection in the mirror they had discussed earlier. "I'll just have to try not to get distracted by your gorgeous, uh..."
"Cunt?" Sharon offered, and almost laughed when she felt Sam freeze against her.
"That's...probably not the word I'd have used, but damn, you sound good saying that, too," Sam commented. He'd snapped out of his surprise fairly quickly and by that time, Sharon was definitely laughing.
"I don't mind if you use it," she said, "It doesn't make me uncomfortable."
"I kind of feel like I must be offending somebody," Sam confessed, "But if you don't have a problem with it..."
"I quite like it, actually," Sharon clarified, turning her head towards him for a moment, "Just between us."
"Just between us," Sam repeated, "I love your cunt." Sharon gasped theatrically and then giggled, only to end up moaning by the time her boyfriend had leaned in to kiss her lips. His fingers had slid down to just barely tease her entrance and she had been about to let go of them when he stopped her. "No, keep it there," he requested, "Show me what you want. Show me what'll make you come all over both of our hands."
Sharon moaned even louder then, and as she guided Sam between her folds her head fell back onto his shoulder. It wasn't as if they technically needed their new bed for any of this, but she was absolutely certain they were going to take advantage of it for the rest of the evening nonetheless.

'Tis the Soft Season · Whisper · Sharon Carter & Sam Wilson · Marvel (Earth 202)
Warning! M-rated for smutty references.
"I just..." Sam lowered his voice mid-sentence as Sharon gently pressed a finger to his lips. "...really like your legs."
Sharon giggled, cupping his cheek as she brought him in for languid kiss. Her aforementioned legs were wrapped around his middle, where his hands could easily run up and down the length of them and indeed had been for a couple of minutes. "I've noticed," she admitted, raising her eyebrows.
Sam grinned. "I mean, they're not the only thing I like about you."
"Oh, I know. And your arms aren't the only thing I like about you," Sharon retorted, and gave his bicep a small squeeze for good measure.
"I like this game," Sam decided, "How dirty do we want to get?"
"We just had sex loud enough for your neighbor to complain, so I'd say all bets are off the table," Sharon said with a laugh, "Let's just try to keep it down."
"He complains about everything," Sam pointed out, but kept his voice quiet nonetheless. "I like your shoulders."
"Thank you. You're always very appreciative of them." Sharon pressed her lips quickly to his. "That wasn't very dirty, though."
"I'm building to it," Sam promised.
"I like your pecs." His chest was right in front of her, and it was easy for Sharon to move her hands to run over his skin.
"Thanks. I work pretty hard on those," Sam said playfully, "I like your abs."
"Ass?" Sharon questioned, and they both fell into laughter as Sam tried to clarify. "I'm sorry, I think I was just projecting," Sharon teased, "I like yours. Abs and ass."
"Likewise. Your ass was probably the second thing I noticed about you," Sam mentioned, and Sharon scrunched her nose.
"What was the first thing?"
"Your eyes."
"Here I am trying to make it dirty and you're getting all romantic on me." Sharon pulled her boyfriend in if possible a little closer, hands moving from his chest to drape over his shoulders. "The first thing I noticed about you was your smile."
"Yeah?" For the first time in their entire pillow talk session, Sam looked just the slightest bit embarrassed.
"Mm-hmm," Sharon confirmed, "You're a really good kisser, too, but I didn't find that out until much later."
"So are you. I do really like kissing you, and not just here." 'Here' was what Sharon took to mean her lips, which Sam had just captured with his own. "I really like it when I'm between your legs and I can see all of you and you're...unbelievably beautiful."
"Sam..." Sharon's voice was still at a whisper, although this time it wasn't consciously for the neighbor's benefit. "I really like all the incredible things you can do with your tongue. And I really, really like having you inside me. You feel so good every time and you make me feel so good every time."
Sam groaned as he pulled her into another kiss, this one lasting longer and completely living up to her earlier compliment of him. "I love having you over," he muttered, his smile bright as ever, and for a split second after his first two words Sharon had thought he might be about to say something else. "Would you be OK with upsetting my neighbor again?" he asked her.
"Sure. He doesn't know my face yet," Sharon said. She chuckled as she rolled over to switch positions with her boyfriend, thinking of all the things she did like about him so very much and - even though neither of them had said it yet - maybe even loved.

'Tis the Soft Season · Massage · Sharon Carter & Sam Wilson · Marvel (Earth 202)
"You really are good at this," Sharon murmured, her head rolling forwards. Sam's hands were carefully kneading the skin on either side of her racerback sports bra, and she could see his grin without looking over her shoulder.
"Thank you. I was hoping you'd think so," Sam replied with a chuckle, "Our deal still stands, though. If after I'm done you don't want me to give you any more back rubs, I won't."
"I didn't say I didn't want you to give me a back rub. I just said I'm pretty sure Tony has people on call to give us massages after workouts." Sharon was glad Sam wasn't currently looking at her face since she grimaced almost as soon as the words left her mouth, pretty certain she was just digging an even bigger hole for herself. Based on her own assessment of today's events, she certainly wasn't winning Girlfriend of the Year anytime soon.
"I'm pretty sure you're right. But I'm also pretty sure you never get one, and I'm very sure I wanted to do this," Sam clarified. She felt his touch slide down to her lower back and she sighed gently. "I get it, though. It might be kind of weird if you're not used to it. My mom and dad used to give each other back rubs all the time."
"My parents never did that," Sharon remarked with an exhale, "At least, not that I ever saw."
"And yet nobody would question that your parents don't care about each other," Sam pointed, "They just say it different, that's all."
Sharon fell silent then, permitting herself just to sit still and listen to the sounds of Sam's fingers pressing into and occasionally tapping against her skin. He was right that she had never requested a post-workout massage, despite knowing they were easily available at the Avengers compound, because she had never felt like she had the time. A massage was a luxury she couldn't afford not for any kind of financial reasons but because her time was better spent working on the next thing she needed to work on. That wasn't true of Sam, though. He wasn't an indulgence; he was her boyfriend, and he cared about her. It was evident from his attentive touch and from the fact that when he was done he pressed a gentle kiss to her shoulder, then wrapped his arms around her in an embrace she leaned back into.
"Sam," she said quietly, turning her head to give him a smile, "I like the way you say it."

'Tis the Soft Season · Hands · Sharon Carter & Sam Wilson · Marvel (Earth 202)
"So, do you want to split up?"
"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" Sam was staring at Sharon with mock incredulity that told her in no uncertain terms that he was joking around.
"Oh, yeah. I thought the mall in December would be the perfect time and place to end this relationship," she played along with an easy smile, and Sam was quick to laugh. "I was just wondering how you wanted to play this. We could shop together or we could split up to look for gifts and meet up again later," she suggested.
"Oh, I'm down for shopping together if you are. This is nice," Sam replied. Sharon's easy smile became a warm grin as she nodded in agreement, her eyes on his. It was their first holiday season together, and certainly the first time in a very long time Sharon had found herself Christmas shopping hand in hand with someone she cared about this much. "Besides, I already got your gift," Sam added, looking pleased with himself.
"Impressive," Sharon commended him, "I've already got yours, too."
"Perfect. No secrets to worry about." Sam gave her hand an affectionate squeeze. "Hey, tell me the truth. When did you get my gift?"
Had it been someone else, such as perhaps one of her previous boyfriends, Sharon would probably have lied. Her answer could easily deflate someone's ego, and there had been plenty of times where she had chosen to avoid that over telling the truth. Sam had always been different, though, and especially after several months together she felt as though she could even picture what would happen when she told him. He would laugh, probably loudly, and admire her forethought without ever making it feel like he was mocking her for it. He could always be counted on, and his steady hand holding hers was an apt reminder.
"July," Sharon admitted. Sam's reaction did not disappoint.

'Tis the Soft Season · Blanket · Sharon Carter & Sam Wilson · Marvel (Earth 202)
"You shouldn't be kissing me." Sharon had intended her protestation to be serious, but it came out sounding half-hearted at best. She adjusted the blanket wrapped around her shoulders as Sam looked back at her with a furrowed brow. "I don't want you to get sick, too," Sharon explained.
"Babe, given how we spent last night, I'm pretty sure there's no chance I don't already have your cold," Sam pointed out, his expression turning into a raised eyebrow.
"Alright, you may have a point," Sharon conceded. Sam chuckled and settled in alongside her amongst the pillows of the couch, which was probably just as comfortable but a good deal squishier than their own couch back home. "One night," she said with a sigh, "That's all we got to enjoy of our cabin retreat before I got all...mucus-filled. I'm sorry, Sam."
"Mucus-filled?" Sam echoed, barely holding back a laugh, "You bypassed the word 'phlegm' and went straight for 'mucus'?"
"I did. I blame the mucus," Sharon replied, and pretty soon they were both giggling as she nestled into his shoulder.
"Don't be sorry. I still get to spend time with you, which was kind of the whole point, anyway," Sam noted, "We'll take another vacation when both of us are feeling better."
"Maybe somewhere warm next time," Sharon suggested, "Somewhere we can lie on the beach."
"That sounds fantastic. I don't know what we were thinking, going to Vermont in the winter." Sam's arm was around her as he turned sideways and leaned back even further on the couch cushions, bringing her with him as she adjusted the blanket over the both of them.
"I think we were thinking that it'd be so cold we'd spend all day inside having sex," Sharon said with a smile.
"Eh, we can do that anywhere," Sam teased.

'Tis the Soft Season · Scarf · Sharon Carter · Marvel
The scarf was made from a cashmere-and-silk yarn adorned with a floral print, and had cost upwards of a thousand dollars. Sharon knew as much because the price tag had still been on it when she'd received it along with the rest of her outfit for her assignment, which probably cost at least five times that. The skirt and blouse were items she might wear herself, though she wouldn't pay anywhere near that amount of money for them. The scarf, though, wasn't to her taste at all, in a pale pink that wouldn't have suited her natural hair color, and yet that was the item that was bringing her the most comfort.
She might not have been a SHIELD agent for long, but it was long enough to know that getting into character was her least favorite part of the job. Training exercises were a breeze, and there were few things she liked more than putting on a playlist and working out her frustrations one by one on a training dummy. She didn't even mind the technological side of the work; though it sometimes took her a modicum of time to wrap her brain around, it was logical and straightforward. People, however, were very often not logical, and getting information out of them usually required appealing to their emotional side. Reading them was easy enough, but it was the next step, the one which required her to be whoever they needed her to be, that Sharon had always struggled with. Sometimes, she didn't want to laugh at their stupid jokes or win them over with her smile. It was the price that had to be paid to do her job, to help people, to keep the world safe, and today this scarf was helping her do it.
The woman who wore this scarf would spend no time at all thinking about how charismatic the world found her, because she wouldn't care. She had enough money to make sure she was surrounded by people who would worship the ground she walked on, and to expect that anyone else who saw her would immediately fall in line. The woman who wore this scarf definitely wouldn't spend her nights lying awake going over her previous mission and thinking about how to improve on her next one. Instead, she'd be mingling at parties like this.
"That's a beautiful scarf."
"Oh, this old thing?" Sharon said, tossing her head back a little as she grinned, "You're too kind."

Nanosmutmo · Whoops · Sam Wilson & Sharon Carter · Marvel (Earth-202)
Just as a quick note, in this universe AEGIS is the organization that was created to replace SHIELD after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Sharon cleared her throat, though not because she wasn't enjoying listening to Sam singing 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine' to himself as he wandered through the dimly-lit hallways of a mostly empty AEGIS headquarters. Mostly, she just thought it was a little rude not make her presence known, and she didn't want to risk accidentally making him jump out of his skin.
"Whoops," Sam said, looking a little sheepish, "Sorry. I didn't expect anyone else to be here."
Sharon smiled. "Don't be. It was a good rendition," she told him, "Are you getting ready to chase another lead?"
"Just got back from another unsuccessful one, actually. I was stopping by to drop a few things off," Sam explained, "How about you?" "Just some research," Sharon said, nodding at the computer screen in front of her. "I'm cross referencing attacks linked to the Winter Soldier with any eyewitness accounts or camera footage that might fit Bucky's description," she added, "Although really the computer is doing most all the work. It's nice to know how easily I could be replaced."
It wasn't a very good joke and Sharon was aware, but Sam chuckled nonetheless. "I'll start worrying if the computer thinks to do that without you asking," Sam declared, "I'm guessing you have to be here? You can't leave it to run overnight?"
"Oh, I guess I probably could, but I was already here, so..." Sharon shrugged. "The only real difference it makes is where I get my takeout delivered to."
"Ah," Sam said, "Well, in that case - if you don't mind - I'll be sure to tell Steve next time I see him that you don't have someone waiting back home for you. I think he'd like to know."
"Oh, yeah?" Sharon felt a sheepish smile of her own appear on her face. "I'm not so sure, sometimes."
"Come on, Steve is definitely into you," Sam said with conviction, "How could he not be? It's you. He's just...well, being kind of clueless, honestly, but I promise I'm working on him. Natasha's trying to help out, too."
"You're a good guy, Sam." Sharon directed her smile at him this time.
"Thanks. I'm no Steve Rogers but I try," Sam said in a playful tone, "Have a good night, Shar. I'll see you in the morning?"
"See you in the morning."

Nanosmutmo · Poetry · Sam Wilson & Sharon Carter · Marvel (Earth-202)
"Ooh, great job." Sharon spoke from where she was hovering a few feet off the floor, head tilted back and one hand holding on to the God of Thunder while the other gripped his arm. Thor had dipped her expertly during their tango, and his teacher was quick to praise him for it. "Your control was perfect."
"Thank you," Thor replied, looking pleased, "I do sometimes struggle with that."
Sam wasn't even sure if either of them had seen him come up on to the terrace, but it didn't really matter. Though his intention had been to ask if Thor was planning on staying for dinner, he'd ended up just watching for a little while from near the glass doors, smiling at the sight of his girlfriend - herself quite tall - giving a dance lesson to someone who towered above her. Thor was a great many things including a formidable warrior and a great friend but he was not the most coordinated, at least not as far as Earth dancing was concerned. Sharon had been naturally been patient and kind in helping him with his desire to impress Carol, and Sam was always reminded of how much he loved her when he saw the lengths she was willing to go to for people she cared about. It wasn't just that, though. She was like poetry in motion when she danced, and he was able to admire her rhythm and grace from a small distance in a way he couldn't quite when they were dancing together.
"Don't forget if you want to pull this move with Carol you might need to guide her into it a little," Sharon told Thor, her right leg hooked around him.
Thor nodded. "With gestures and eye contact," he recited, "Leading in a dance is all about non-verbal communication."
"Exactly," Sharon said. It was then that she seemed to spot Sam, and she grinned over at him while finishing the last few steps. "Or, as Sam likes to say," she added, "Sometimes you have to just feel it."

"Come on, Baby. Don't make me pull the dad card before you're even born."
Sharon let out a laugh, which unfortunately didn't do much to help the feeling of a tiny foot lodged somewhere beneath her ribs. She'd been sitting on the couch reading a book in discomfort when Sam had come home, greeting her with a kiss and soon afterwards a question as to whether she needed anything. She'd informed him she was fine but after she'd joked about her predicament, he had sat down next to her and taken it upon himself to convince their unborn child to move.
"This feels like a crash course in parenting," Sharon mused, shaking her head to indicate their baby still hadn't budged, "How to convince a child to do something when you can't explain why."
"You have a point. Maybe I'm being too harsh on them," Sam said, and left a gentle kiss on the stretchy fabric of Sharon's maternity pants. "Listen, I remember seeing your foot on the last scan and it was real cute," he told her stomach, his voice softer this time, "But not when it's poking at your mama's internal organs."
"It was a very cute foot," Sharon conceded, smiling at her husband despite the fact that her baby's foot had decided to dig in a little deeper.
"I could sing?" Sam offered hopefully.
"Worth a shot," Sharon replied, "Let's just hope Baby doesn't decide to dance."

Nanosmutmo · Not As Soft · Sam Wilson & Sharon Carter · Marvel (Earth-202)
Sam knew, in theory, that spies were supposed to be very good at sneaking up on people, but he hadn't quite realized the extent to which that was true until now. Despite having just seen his girlfriend about twenty minutes ago, he still managed to be very pleasantly surprised by her sudden appearance in one of the hallways of the Avengers compound, her eyes bright and a hint of a smirk on her lips.
"Hey," he greeted her, giving her a grin of his own. Sharon's response was to put both her hands on his chest and back him slowly against the nearest wall as she brought her lips to his.
"Hi," she murmured back just before she kissed him with an intensity he all but melted into, his hand lifting to cup her cheek.
"Hi," he said eventually, a little dazed, and Sharon smiled again.
"You ready to go?" she asked, "It certainly seemed like you managed to take care of everything at that meeting back there."
"Oh, I think Maria still wanted to talk to me about something," Sam admitted regretfully. It was only then that her words and her tone seemed to sink in, and he looked at her with a mixture of amusement and intrigue. "You saw that?" he asked.
Sharon nodded. "You and I both know Bucky can get in his head sometimes. I think someone calmly taking charge in that moment was exactly what was needed," she said, "And I really liked it, actually."
Sam stilled for a moment. "You know, Maria can talk to me another time," he decided, "It can't be that urgent."
"If you say so, I'm sure it's fine," Sharon remarked. Her gaze was as warm and as inviting as ever and all Sam wanted was to be somewhere he could have her as close as humanly possible.
"I do say so. You can always kiss me like that again if you want to convince me, though," Sam said, and Sharon chuckled as she quickly obliged.
