Just in time for Halloween, The Ghost of Alan Smithee by Brett Siler is the un-nerveing and imaginative soundtrack to a discarded movie. Years ago Brett was hired by a director to write music for a movie under an extremely short deadline. Halfway through the process, the director disappeared into thin air. The material sat for a few years and Brett took it upon himself to use the material, add to it, and continue writing a full-length album. Ambient drones, tortured buzzing amps and feedback, dense dissonance, stabbing percussion, gnarly guitar solos, detuned harp, piano and more! Don't miss this spine-chilling release!

Gratis was birthed in reaction to what they felt was becoming cliche, conservative, and boring music from the punk, hardcore and metal scenes. Striving to break the shackles of the restrictions punk and hardcore world they grew up in imposed, Gratis desired to push the art into new territory or even move beyond it! While still having roots firmly planted in underground DIY culture; they began writing music that pushed their physical and creative limits! The result was an intense, complex, often experimental, weird, humorous, and deadly serious set of compositions. Tempo and time signatures change drastically and the drop of a hat. Mixing in and jump-cutting between math rock, grindcore, black metal, punk, jazz, surf, movie scores, cartoons; it was all fair game! Wild improvs that go anywhere between beautiful ambience, harsh noise, and splattered free jazz. Their live shows were very loud, very physical, exciting and euphoric. Often leaving the members with broken instruments and bruised bodies. This band shaped Brett Siler, Scott Siler, Jesse Gallamore, Kelsey Cain, and Brint Powell, not just as musicians but as people as well. Gratis would go on to befriend, play shows and tour with other weird bands such as Lords, Coliseum,Child Bite, Ayin, Spizm, Breather Resist,The End, Horse The Band, Metatron, Melk the G6-49 and labels such as Joyful Noise. The band dissolved in 2009 playing their final show a day after the death of Micheal Jackson. Over 10 years after the band's demise an album has been constructed from archived recordings of unreleased material, live demos, and experimental improvs. While the performances and recordings captured here are raw and gritty the album encapsulates the spirit of what Gratis was attempting to achieve.

Listen/purchase: The Story Of Rabbit Girl: Original Motion Picture Score by Brett Siler
Brett Siler's original score for Mitch Massie's grizzly fairy tale The Story Of Rabbit Girl! Touching on Russian classical and folk, jazz, nods towards minimalism, golden age cinema, with introspective piano and synths. This is by far Brett Siler's most playful, light-hearted, reflective and charming work to date.
Message from Brett Siler about the album: "The footage for that turned into short movie "Story of Rabbit Girl" was actually first released as a music video by Mitch Massie for Cattle Decapitation's "Clandestine Ways (Krokodil Rot)"; in which I stared in and played many different characters. We actually shot so much material we thought "why not turn it into a short movie". Since I happen to be a musician so it made sense I scored the film too. As opposed to Cattle Decapitation's music we actually wanted the music for the movie to be light-hearted to offset the extremely graphic and grizzly visuals. The music was inspired by and an homage to Yann Tiersen, Angelo Badalamenti, Erik Satie, Dimitri Shostakovich, Phillip Glass, as well as some of the greats from the golden age of cinema for that older classic cinematic sound. Working on this material was really fun and challenging. It's also interesting because there is absolutely no guitar on this album, which I've never done before. I didn't realize that until about 3/4's of the way through writing the album and just decided to stick with the no guitar theme just to challenge myself."

With the worldwide pandemic of the Coronavirus essentially putting all live shows to a halt, we here at Rebore Records decided to hunker down in Gary Martinez's basement to record and film a dynamic live set of Shih Tzu! We assembled a team of Brett Siler to record the audio as well as Zach Zint and Jeremy Graham of Littlest Baby Productions to film it. The set was performed in one take. Amps cranked, feedback swelling, cymbals washing, low end rumbling, vocals screaming. A wrong note here, a broken pedal there, cracking voice every now and then, but the energy is pure. That is what live music is about, not the perfection of a performance but the expression, connection, and spirit of humanity.  Sure it's not the same as being there yourself with a room full of people but hopefully, we captured the essence of a vibrant basement show to hold you over until this whole pandemic is over.

The movie Wild Baby was not only written and directed by Zach Zint but most of the score was written and performed by him as well! For the score, Zach decided on a minimal setup of drumset, voice, and detuned piano. Beautifully recorded, mixed, and mastered by Brett Siler, every drum hit, cymbal swell, clashing piano note and deep breathy vocal line of Zach's performance is heard. Brett also wrote and recorded a lovely jazzy country ballad to contribute to the score. Wild Baby is a charming, off-kilter album (and movie) from the creative mind of Zach Zint!

HYPER TENSIONS - “Evil Seeds” available now on digital and vinyl!
"Evil Seeds is the newest full-length album by the Hyper Tensions. The approach to recording this album was simple. Everyone in the same room playing together. No isolation, no baffling, no going direct with digital amp simulators. Just a band in a room with amps blasting and microphones capturing the performance. After the foundation was laid, vocals were recorded along with some additional auxiliary instrumentation. On the surface "Evil Seeds" is a fun punk record with heavy psych and garage influences. Upon closer listening, you will notice the album is full of sonic gems to reward the listener. Heavily saturated guitar amps with crunchy acoustic guitars on top. Solos traded back and forth. Fuzzed out ratty bass. Distorted, modulating, and delayed vocals dripping with reverb. Paranoid mumbling and outright explosive screaming about drug induced mania, countered with the occasional vocal harmony. Precise and dynamic drumming drives the energetic performances along with plenty of added auxiliary percussion such as tambourine, guiro, and giant cymbal swells. Not to mention the piano, harmonica, organ, and synths jam-packed in here as well! All of this is meticulously mixed by Rebore's own Brett Siler, riding a fine line between clarity and their mutual love of old school filth and grime. The end result is an album that is catchy enough to put on at a party but dense enough for a rewarding deep listen.”

NEW MUSIC!!
Kenny DeMoss's Bedbug is an exploration into Hypnagogic pop. Made on deteriorating analog equipment, the recording medium is almost an instrument itself. The stiff driving hi-hats and kick drum cut through the hazy hiss of decaying tape while waterlogged treble and wow and flutter warps and distorts the once clean electronic sounds of the synthesizers. The songs evoke a vague sense of nostalgia, like the memory of a memory. It feels oddly familiar but you can't quite place where you heard it. In a shopping mall, on hold with customer service, a late night movie on basic cable, as seen on tv infomercials, the safety-first video you had to watch in high school shop class... It could have been any one of those, or none of them at all...

This trio has the speed of hardcore punk, fuzzed out low end of sludge, wild feedback, melodic guitar riffs and dynamic slacker crooning to outright screaming. Recorded live to capture their raw and passionate energy, Shiz Tzu's '19 comes bursting out of the crate and we are begging for more!

Quin takes elements of, noise rock, math rock, post-hardcore, and early indie rock (before the genre devolved into bland safe music written for Nissan commercials); and puts it into blender creating a raucous sound that is equally challenging as it is fun, and melodic. Gritty vocals that switch between mumbling, crooning and screaming. The interplay of 3 guitars and 1 bass bouncing off each other, climaxing into crescendos of noise, effected riffs, and fuzzed out leads; all seeming to playfully wrestling with each other. The drums provide a driving back beat that hold down the chaos. At times they are verge of being swallowed by a tidal wave of riffs, leads, feedback and noise; only to keep coming through unscathed and ready for more. The jangling songs shift tempos, and time signatures but retain an unpretentious accessibility. Quin’s “Smallhouse” proves to being an exciting, uplifting, and enjoyable listen.

New release just in time for your Halloween party! Link in descriptions “Kenny Demoss of Stella once again proves he is an ecclectic musician with his newest output I Like You "Burn Down Your House Vol. 1". The album displays some incredibly nasty, aggressive synthetic and industrial soundscapes. Powerful pulsing distorted bass lines and a dense cacophony of brutal synth and sampled sounds phasing in and out of time, while a driving 4 on the floor beat barely pops through the static glue together everything by a thread. Featuring a hellscape of swirling panoramic glitches that bounce between the speakers, making this perfect your your next s&m dance party.” #reborerecords #halloween #industrial #electronicmusic #powerelectronics #kennydemoss https://www.instagram.com/p/BpbyGsXl5Z8/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1p2w4969804ke
