Vermont woman 'Dragongurl69' sentenced 11 years for attempted child enticement

WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. â A 33-year-old woman known as "Dragongurl69" was sentenced to over 11 years in prison for attempted child enticement.Scarlet Shadows, of West Rutland, Vermont, admitted to exchanging sexually explicit text messages with someone she believed was an 11-year-old girl, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
In January 2022, Shadows traveled from Vermont to Warren County, New York, hoping to have sex with the child. Shadows brought an engagement ring, condoms and gifts for the child.
In addition to Shadow's 135-month sentence, a judge imposed a 15-year term of post-imprisonment supervised release, and Shadows will have to register as a sex offender when she's released from prison.

Republished with permission from www.reduxx.org An adult male who self-identified as a lesbian teenager was arrested on charges of attempting to entice a minor into sexual activity after being caught in a law enforcement sting targeting child predators, police say. Scarlet Shadows, also known by the screen name âDragongurl69,â of West Rutland, Vermont, appeared in federal court on January 27, where the court heard that Shadows exchanged sexually explicit messages with undercover law enforcement officers for weeks before travelling from Vermont to Warren County with an engagement ring, condoms, and gifts for what he believed was an 11 year-old girl. According to The Rutland Herald, the charge against Shadows, 31, is based on an affidavit written by FBI Special Agent Jenelle Bringuel, who specializes in investigating the sex trafficking of minors. In the affidavit, Bringuel said an undercover officer pretending to be the guardian of an 11-year-old girl in foster care posted on a social networking site in December using terms âcommonly associated with individuals seeking to find children for sexual purposes.â On December 26, the officer received a reply from a person using the name âDragongurl69â, who law-enforcement officers believe is Shadows. The undercover agent then began exchanging messages with âDragongurl69.â Shadows told the undercover agent that he was 31 but identified as a âmiddle,â which he described as identifying as a teenager, and said he didnât want to âget arrested for sexual stuff with minors.â On January 15, Bringuel sent Shadows several photos of an undercover agent that had been digitally manipulated to make her resemble an 11-year-old girl, according to the affidavit. Later that same day, Shadows suggested having sexual contact with the child and âhaving her date meâ and requested to speak with the child. Bringuel stated that she arranged to have a second undercover officer exchange text messages with Shadows while posing as the girlâs âmother.â Shadows texted the girl saying her mother âwants me to teach you sex stuffâ and added, âBut up to you to lol (sic.)â The next day, Shadows sent messages establishing his age as 31 and urging the âgirlâ to keep his communications and the relationship confidential. âWe have to keep the relationship a secret. So to the public im gonna be your nanny but wen we are home we are girlfriends. Its just so we donât get in trouble then when your not a minor we can express our love in public, Ok? (sic),â Shadows wrote according to the affidavit. On January 18, Shadows sent messages describing imagined sexual abuse of the girl, which he said would be âmore than kissing.â Shadows arrived in New York on January 26, at which time he was arrested. During questioning, he claimed the sexual texts were nothing more than âroleplaying.â The Department of Justice release on Shadowsâ arrest referred to him as a âwomanâ and utilized âshe/herâ pronouns to refer to him, something that has now been replicated in media reports. So far, no news outlets or government documents have noted that Shadows is a biological male who identifies as transgender. If convicted, Shadows faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, and will be required to register as a sex offender. First transgender American elected to state legislature charged with child sex abuse

NASHAU, N.H. (TND) â Rep. StacieLaughton, who served in the New HampshireHouse of Representatives from 2020 to 2022, was arrested Thursdayon charges of distributingchild sexual abuse images, according to local police.
Local outlet WMUR reports Laughton's arrest is connected to the case of Lindsay Groves, a Massachusetts preschool worker who allegedly took photos of children while they were in the bathroom.
"Groves allegedly used natural bathroom breaks for the children (routine diaper/pull-up changes prior to ânaptimeâ) to take multiple photos of the prepubescent children in a private bathroom and then sent the photos to [an unnamed individual] via text message," theU.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts said in a release.
Laughton made headlines in 2012 for becoming the first openly transgender individual elected to a state legislature anywhere in the United States, according to Metro Weekly.
A representative from the Nashua Police Department referred The National Desk (TND) to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which did not immediately return a phone call.
Laughton did not immediately return a request for comment from TND. This article will be updated if a response is received.
This article was updated to reflect Laughton was the first transgender person to be elected to a state legislature, but not the first to hold elected office in a legislature. Laughton resigned before taking her seat in 2012.

Former Paducah daycare worker charged with child sexual abuse

PADUCAHÂ â A former daycare worker is charged with child sexual abuse after the worker was accused of inappropriately touching an infant and making inappropriate comments while changing the baby's diaper, according to a police citation obtained by Local 6.Â
Maria A. Childres, 25, was working at Explore Learning Academy in Paducah in November when the abuse allegedly occurred. The citation says the Paducah Police Department received a report on Feb. 8 from the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services regarding an abuse complaint against Childres made by an anonymous reporter. The citation says a Paducah police officer and DCBS went to Explore Learning Academy and spoke with a witness who corroborated the details of the anonymous report. The officer talked with the daycare facility's director, who said she was made aware of the allegation against Childres and gave Childres a "write-up" regarding the inappropriate comments, the citation says.Â
The officer interviewed Childres at the police department, and the citation says Childres denied the accusations. At first, Childres denied ever changing the infant's diaper, the citation says, but then changed that claim after the officer read a text Childres sent to the daycare director stating Childres did change the child's diaper. Childres denied touching the child inappropriately and denied making inappropriate remarks.Â
Childres was arrested on Feb. 8 and charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 12. Childres was jailed in the McCracken County Jail, and bond was set at $100,000, according to the jail roster.Â
Childres is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on March 23.Â

Transgender woman posed as teenager online and shared indecent images

TRANSITIONING sex offender who posed as a teenage girl online and shared indecent child images told a court, âthat wasnât meâ.
Emma Davies, 60, pretended to be a 14-year-old to talk to girls of a similar age and shared an explicit image of a young girl she had received, presenting it as herself. The supermarket worker told Workington Magistratesâ Court she took responsibility for what happened but that person was ânot who she is todayâ.Outlining the case, prosecutor Pamela Fee said police attended Daviesâ home address at Moor Place in Frizington on August 31 last year.
Officers had received information that Davies, who was then known as Nigel, had been accessing images of children online.Police seized devices and a category C image was located on two devices. The image was of a 13-year-old girl and there were other images of the same child on the devices.Davies was first interviewed by police on August 31. She said she had been diagnosed as a âpossible transexualâ and thought she could be a girl.
The defendant said she had never asked for sexual images. She said she had pretended to be a 14-year-old girl online and had talked to girls of a similar age. They talked about things such as music and depression, she said, and it âallowed her to be someone who is not meâ.Davies was interviewed again in December 2023 and was shown the image that had been found on her devices.
She said she could recall the image but didnât know who it was. She said they had âgot talkingâ and the girl had sent a topless image without her asking.Davies couldnât remember which platform it had been sent on and said she believed the girl was 13 or 14. The defendant said she thought she would have been presenting  as a teenage girl when the image was sent to her.She said the image wasnât for her own sexual gratification but was for the âpersona of who she wanted to beâ.Davies said she had then shared the image of the girl online, pretending it was herself. She said she was always in her âteen girl roleâ when she shared the images.Â
The defendant transitioned in February this year, the court heard.Ms Fee said: âThereâs clearly a need for a sexual harm prevention order. There is a risk of further sexual harm.âShe was presenting herself as a young girl to speak to other young girls of a similar age. She has used devices to speak to people before and then got rid of them.âA small number of images were found. She sent those images on to other people, presenting them as herself. That person is a victim of sexual abuse online.âDavies, who was not legally represented, told the court: âItâs quite a difficult period in my life. I have a little bit of concern about who I am today and what happened back then. That wasnât me.âI have moved on with who I am. I take responsibility for what was happening. I didnât distribute images, as far as I can remember. For anything that happened, I am sorry.âOver the last nine months, I have lost a lot. I made the decision to rebuild my life. Iâm transitioning. I would like the opportunity to progress with that.âIâm the happiest I have ever been in my life. When I speak to probation, itâs distressing for me to go back to a person that I am not. I donât like that person.âIt was me but itâs not me now.âDavies told magistrates she was not a threat to the public and no longer goes online. She said: âI want to move away and start again because thatâs not going to happen round here.âThe person I was, wasnât a very nice person, I suppose. I find it very distressing and unsettling to bring this person back into my life.âDavies, of Moor Place, Frizington, had admitted making two category C indecent images of a child and failing to surrender to court bail at an earlier hearing.Passing sentence, magistrates imposed a five-year sexual harm prevention order and a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.Davies is required to present herself at the police station as a sex offender within three days. She was fined ÂŁ120 and ordered to pay ÂŁ85 costs and a ÂŁ114Â victim surcharge.
