time to get introspective! what is your most formative memory when you first got into the military?

OMG IM FINALLY GETTING THE ANON QUESTIONS

Okay okay uhm. My most formative memory huh..

I guess..when I first got recruited? I walked in, tripped up, and I when I lifted my head there was a hand (no shit), and when I got up it was this massive bloke, I’m talking big, muscled, strong. I was dumb, had no idea who it was, so I started blabbering my thanks and my appreciation whatever. Big bloke’s got this scary look, skull mask if you can believe it, and he just tilts his head at me when I eventually figured the guy doesn’t want a run down of why the first trilogy of Star Wars is the best. He snickered at me, then turned and walked away, and it was then I kinda realised I just met an actual SAS legend. That moment stuck and it’s not been a driving force, but it was refreshing and nice for what it was, made me realise I could be this big bad ass and still be able to have a laugh now and then. And ghost is a brute, and who wouldn’t be inspired or terrified by that

If you want way back, like what inspired me/put me on the military path, I’d say probably my childhood? I was like 5 when we had a really bad earthquake, my dad died when I was a baby, I had two younger sisters, and just my mum and our aunty. Our house was in..like a danger zone?? I don’t know, it was in a danger spot, so we had to evacuate. It was confusing and I was scared but I needed to make sure my sisters were okay, and when we went outside I spotted loads of these big men, military guys all in uniform helping out. As a kid i was told the military only did army stuff, so seeing them doing all they could to help people was so cool, I even waved at a few and got some smiles!
