Okay! Obviously, I love Wolf 359. The available scripts for Wolf 359 are recording scripts, meaning they're inaccurate in a ton of places when it comes to finalized or improvised dialogue, and don't function well as transcripts (especially since the scripts for the live show and some of the mini episodes were never made available.) That said, I think everyone should read the scripts; the sheer amount of physical description that you can feel in the show, even if you can't see it... I guarantee it will enhance your listening experience. Most visual show to ever be an audio drama. So, in pursuit of both of these goals at once, I went over every word in the scripts, and wrote up new scripts for the unavailable ones. Some of the sound effects described - especially in early episodes - might not line up exactly, because I didn't want to mess with the non-dialogue portion of the show, but I hope this strikes a good balance and can be a useful resource.

once upon a time, there was a little boy called doug eiffel. and doug had a superpower: he could get inanimate objects to reproduce sounds happening very far away. modern science calls this power ‘radio.’ … doug eiffel also calls it ‘radio.’

i do think a lot of wolf 359 characters are inescapably white. as much as i would typically design characters as "diverse" or whatever as i can possibly get...

eiffel's very much a white man re: "minCOWski". minkowski is intentionally polish and dimitri is intentionally russian, both inextricable from their character. kepler's attachment to the military, and ranks, and his willingness use other people betray a mindset that (to me, at least) falls directly in line with colonialism. the strong take what they want, and the weak yield.

i think that "removing whiteness" (as much as you can when it's a formless character) from these four unintentionally ends up removing the systemic commentary in wolf359, even if (aside from maybe some parts of lovelace's writing) it wasn't written with the intention of commentating on racism (considering the way that race and everything else intersects.) obviously i dont give two shits if people draw the wolf characters as anything and everything but.. i dont know, man.

(for the record, i figure eiffel could probably be a diaspora kid who's super disconnected from his culture. but idk.)

(i'm saying this as a mixed person, i'd like to clarify, who's been percieved as entirely white and entirely asian on multiple occasions in multiple situations. race unsurprisingly affects who you are as a person.)

Hey webcomic makers and enjoyers!!

My very cool partner has been working on a site called webcomicweb to try to help collect comics and help people find them, spurred on by hiveworks dying and randomwebcomic's domain expiring.

We're both millennials who grew up with the birth of the webcomic format, spawned from passionate strangers making things out of the human need to make art and stories and connect. When you stumbled from comic to comic through webrings and link pages before the internet got so small and so centralized and before comics became a business model for middlemen who have never cared about them.

webcomicweb can't promise any of the things a big, corporate product can promise because it's run by one person and hosted on neocities as a passion project with a $5 domain. we're not planning on making this a business and we don't know how long it'll last! but at least! we give a shit! my partner's going to keep paying for this and keep updating this directory for at least as long as our own comic is running (estimating 8 years at least at this rate lmao) so if this sounds appealing to you: bookmark the site, send us your links, tell your friends, whatever!

comics can ONLY be submitted by comic owners, so if you don't want to be listed you will not ever be dragged in by mass link scrapers or w/e!!

no monetization - this is literally JUST a directory for serving and displaying links to comics. because we like comics. because we want more people to read cool things and we want to read more cool things.

There's categories for paused, scrapped, and finished comics as well as ongoing! it's hard to get people to look at old things you've made in this feed-based world!!! but there's still so many people who wanna see it!!

anyway yeah that's my pitch!!! neither me nor zani benefits from this in any way other than the fact that we get to read and share comics! that is literally the whole goal!
