Just thinking aloud here…
One of the most tragic parts of Tilda’s story, and let’s face it - most of it is tragic, is that, seeing no other reasonable choice (and probably alongside having an earth shatteringly irrational fear of dying), Tilda left the love of her life behind to perish on a dying planet, after which, she spent one thousand years grieving the loss of her and regretting that she couldn’t have done more to save her, only to then discover the love of her life still lived (technically, though not exactly), only to then be killed by that very same love of her life.
I know that there is waaaay more depth to it than that, and I’m describing it in only blacks and whites when, in fact, all of it is just shades of grey, but it hits me in the chest in such a melancholic way. Spending a millennium travelling through space, with nothing to occupy her already tormented mind besides her undying heartache and soul crushing grief. Tilda then sees Aloy, sees the woman Lis used to be (better than Lis, in fact). Her mind must have absolutely reeled. My heart would be hammering in that scenario. Everything she thought she knew in that moment was completely rewritten. The pieces of the jigsaw puzzle finally comfortably fell together and Tilda finally saw a clear path to redemption, a path that would release her from her heavy shackles of anguish, heartbreak, and regret, only for her then to be rejected and killed by a version of the one person she had ever given her heart to. Lis was both the beginning of her story and the end of it.
I dunno, chaps. Something about her just fills me with loving sadness. 💔

I have so much in the works right now and I can't wait to be able to share, but in the meantime I'll give you this oil painting from a year ago when I first started making Horizon art! Metal Devil in the Nora lands.
This one found a home with a fellow fan and I'm so so honored.
