Hi Marc,
I’m going to try to send you more messages, even if they don’t get to you right away. I find that just writing to you reminds me of all the beauty and good, no matter what else is going on.
Today I was thinking of the last day we went to the beach last summer. We were really brave and...

"At Home By Myself...With You" Key Crew in CineCoup Top 15
Three teams that advanced into the CineCoup Film Accelerator's Top 15 have former "At Home By Myself...With You" key crew members as part of their production teams.
Kris Booth, director and co-writer of At Home, along with Andrea McCulloch, executive producer of At Home, are part of the Red Horizon team. That's us.
Mark Bochsler, who was the Director of Photography for At Home, is part of the Orangutan Guerillas team.
Rose Lagace, who was the production designer for At Home, is part of the Long Distance team.
The above are three very different films - one sci-fi psychological thriller, one documentary and one romantic comedy. This demonstrates one amazing thing about the CineCoup Film Accelerator - it's a great platform for Canadian filmmakers, regardless of the type of film they are making.
All three projects have performed well in the competition since the beginning, and they are now rallying for a place in the top 10.
It's exciting to know that one "little" award-winning Canadian film, funded with Pocket Change, has helped put these Canadian filmmakers on the map...and get them where they are today!
We wish all the former At Home team the best of luck in the CineCoup competition, and we look forward to seeing all of our movies on the Big Screen in the near future!

Why Vote Red Horizon? Our Co-writer Ramona Barckert

The Red Horizon team is VERY excited to welcome Ramona Barckert to the team as a writer!
She loved the first draft of the script so much she just couldn't pass it up...and we're so glad because her talent is a HUGE asset to the team!
Along with the many honours and distinctions she has earned as a writer, Ramona co-wrote "At Home By Myself...With You" with Kris and teamed up with Kris and Andrea to create Pocket Change Film in 2008.
Kris describes his excitement about Ramona joining the team by saying "It's really great! Ramona and I have been writing together for over 10 years. We have the amazing ability to pick up where the other left off. It's almost like we can read each other's minds...and write the same characters."
It's an incredible benefit to have a writing team that is so comfortable working together and has so much respect for each other.
It's really a magic combination!
Here are just a few more reasons that make Ramona the BEST writer for the job and why you should vote for Red Horizon to win the CineCoup Film Accelerator...
Ramona has most recently been a consulting producer for the Emmy- nominated Degrassi (MuchMusic/TeenNick).
She was an executive story editor for Wingin’ It (Family Channel), receiving a 2011 Writers Guild of Canada nomination in Best Child & Youth Live Action for her episode, “She Blinded Me With Science.”
She co-wrote and executive produced the feature film At Home by Myself… With You (Mongrel Media).
She wrote the television movie For the Love of Grace (Hallmark Channel).
Ramona has also written for The Dating Guy, How to Be Indie, The Latest Buzz and Smart Woman Survival Guide.
Ramona has written five feature screenplays and 30+ episodes of produced television.
Her first produced script was the award-winning short film "No Man's Land" - directed by Kris Booth!
Ramona and Kris first met in Central Park. Weird!!
One of Ramona's favourite movies is Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat - a one "room" (okay, boat) story.
Ramona loves Firefly, a TV show where everything that can go wrong in spaces...does.
Ramona's first Degrassi episode, "Extraordinary Machine" was submitted for 2012 awards consideration--resulting in an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Children's Program as well as a Rockie Nomination for Youth Program (13+) - Fiction

Amazing butterfly, Marc. You are learning so much at playschool, and I bet you’re getting bigger and bigger everyday.
I would like to fly home and see you, too.
There’s a lot going on up here. It’s just important for me to know that you and Daddy are together, safe. And I want you always to remember, no matter what, that Mommy loves you so much.
I’m sending you and Daddy huge hugs and kisses. The next time you feel the sun touch your face, you’ll know that my hugs and kisses finally reached you.
I love you so much, sweetheart.
I’ll see you in your dreams.

The Be Brave Movement
People are changing their Profile Pictures on Facebook to this Be Brave image from April 25-28.
The movement began with the Red Horizon film team, which has taken the CineCoup slogan and made it into a North American movement with people from coast to coast sending in images of then with "Be Brave" signs.
The idea is not just about Canadian Film...although that is where it started.
The idea is to spread joy and cheer and, if even just for a brief moment, to inspire people around the world to Be Brave, no matter what they may be facing.
So, from April 25-April 28, we're giving the Facebook world a big hug as people change their profile images as part of the inspirational movement to "Be Brave."

To Mars and a Million with Social Media
by our social media strategist, Frances Leary From the Wired Flare Blog, March 20, 2013
For the past month, I’ve had the opportunity to be part of a new project…in the film industry!
Watch the trailer to get your first taste of it:

The movie is part of a project called the Cinecoup Film Accelerator, and our team is competing for a $1 million movie contract and guaranteed theatrical play.
The competition is turning the film industry updside down by forcing filmmakers to build up an online fanbase before the movie is even made.
That’s where I come in.
On the Red Horizon team (the only registered Atlantic Canadian team), I’m the marketing and social media strategist, and it’s given me the opportunity to play, push boundaries and take risks online that I’ve never taken before.
It’s forced me out of my comfort zone, and I’m so glad it has. The experience has given me a new perspective, and by forcing me to think outside the box it has actually brought me back full circle to where I began – as a storyteller.
And what better place than social media to tell a story!
I encourage all of you to take a step back and consider your social strategies in a new light. What story are you telling your audience? What is the picture your online engagement paints of you? What is your company’s voice? Character? Personality? How does that come through online?
As you consider that, I invite you also to participate in my journey - to blast off with us…by watching the trailers, voting in the competitions and, for those of you in Halifax, to join us for Happy Hour Takes Flight.
You can start by watching the trailer (above) and then meeting the entire Red Horizon Team (Kris Booth, Andrea McCulloch and me). You can watch our team in our 1st Mission by clicking on the photo below:

We’d love you to be part of our community on Red Horizon Facebook or Red Horizon Twitter. I appreciate any support you can give, and more than anything I’m so glad you’re part of my story, in whatever way that is.

Red Horizon Team Sponsors Fundraiser for FEED Nova Scotia

On Thursday night, our team joined forces with some talented Halifax professionals in support of FEED Nova Scotia.
The night was called Wired Mic, and it was the 2nd annual fundraiser sponsored by our social media strategist Frances Leary's company, Wired Flare.
The evening featured a selection of business professionals (who are closet musicians), and they came out to perform to help raise money for a good cause. For many of the performers, this is the only time in a year they perform in public. Otherwise it's singing around the campfire.
All our team was there.
Frances and her company organized the event, which was hosted at Stayner's Wharf on the Halifax waterfront.
Our executive producer Andrea McCulloch was the MC for the evening, and our writer/director Kris Booth was the videographer.
It was a great night all around, and it was a privilege to be able to sponsor the event.
FEED Nova Scotia distributes almost 2 million killograms of food each year to Nova Scotians in need, and every $1 donated allows them to distribute $15.74 of donated food...enough to feed one person for a day.
