Trying to express my opinion on the topic of putting your work out there to be seen and I'm in the middle of trying to gently stress the importance that you can't stake EVERYTHING on engagement and then a blazed post about "getting traction on Ao3" hits me and I correct to "stop putting out work for others to see" and then I'm dragged out into the street and shot

Think a lot of game companies could probably learn from the Silksong team. Yeah it took 7 years because (hopefully) good games take a while to make. Imagine the quality we could have if we left every game in the oven for another year or so

i like the phrases "it's not for me," "it's not my thing," and "i'm not the target audience" because they're the most concise way to express "this thing that you enjoy has merits but idgaf about it" without being aggressive

In theory, maybe I get the “we’re all just playing with barbies, they’re fictional characters, no interpretation is incorrect because it’s an interpretation” argument. But actually no, not all takes are equally valid. Framing something as an interpretation doesn’t mean it inherently has merit. Some takes are completely incorrect and betray a fundamental misunderstanding of the source material. They just aren’t a reason to harass people or send death threats
