BOMBERTEQ. My custom piece for the MegaTEQ63 show at Martian Toys booth in NYCC, October 3-6. I remember the pleasant nights spent with my dad painting Revell plane kits, many MANY years ago, when I was around 5 . Those are the first memories I have trying to paint a 3D object, and the feeling of accomplishment when I finished painting the first model from start to finish is still fresh on my mind - even though it probably didn't look as good as I thought it did. It was a P-40 Tiger Shark, and I always loved the distinct and aggressive look of it. So, when Aaron from Martian Toys invited me to be part of the MegaTeq63 show for NYCC, I decided to pay tribute to those unforgettable memories with my father and create a piece inspired by them. I'm still kinda in shock that my Death of Innocence design is a finalist in the DTA 2019 as Best Production Sculpt. When I created this Dunny as a custom 3" piece way back in 2014, I'd never imagine that it would one day make it all the way into production! Some say that third time's a charm - I really hope so, because this is the third time this design is a DTA finalist: the original 3" was a Best Custom finalist in 2015, the 8" version was a Best Custom finalist in 2016, and now the production version made it to this year's Best Production Sculpt finalist! All other contestants are incredibly awesome, and it will be a dream coming true if I get the love from the judges and bring home that trophy. But you never know... I'd like to thank EVERYBODY that nominated it to be considered by the Committee, Kidrobot and Frank Kozik for deciding to produce it, and everybody involved into making my design into this awesome piece. This is Susheep, my little custom piece using the vinyl “Bubbles” platform, created by my friends Jenn and Tony Bot and produced by UVD Toys. It will be part of the Bubbles Group Show at Clutter Gallery, along with a roaster of amazing artists, that will reimagine the story of the Darkest Hour through three-dimensional customs, and 2d interpretations.
