Presumption or Proof?

Did you know the first Italian fashion week happened in Milan 1958? You know who else appeared for the first and last time disappearing after the event without a trace- ‘Maria D’Carlois‘ Or ‘M.D.C’ 

Here’s what we know about this mystery designer:

Her physical description matches ladybug’s

She appeared out of nowhere- according to an Italian article, her appearance surprised the crowd, but was not wholly unexpected as she was a personal friend of Giovanni Battista Giorgini, a prominent figure in the Italian fashion world at the time

She only had one dress modeled during the show of which it’s claimed she modeled herself

There are no photographs of this supposed piece, despite the large number of Italian press present at the event. However, it was reported to have been sold to a wealthy heiress after the event

She disappeared just as fast as she came. And there are no records of this ‘Maria D’Carlos’ after the event

This is not the only time a designer with the initials M.D.C Has appeared at a major event in the fashion industry in one of the four fashion capitals of the twenty-first century:

In 1943 (15 Years earlier) at the first New York Fashion Week another designer with the Initials M.D.C appeared seemingly out of nowhere as a personal friend of Eleanor Lambert- The Founder of NYFW. This designer was named Melissa Delores Collins.

Just like with ‘Maria’, this mysterious M.D.C was listed among the designers showcasing their work and was again reported to be modeling it herself.

Unlike ‘Maria’ there was indeed photographic evidence, of her appearance- a blurry figure in the background of a picture from an interview with Eleanor herself. Despite the lack of clarity, you can clearly see that this M.D.C again has black hair, and is of an eerily similar height and build to Ladybug.
