Virtual Sketchbook 1

Hi class! One known fact about me is that I am a hard worker. Anything I set my mind to I am able to accomplish, most of the time.

Pablo Picasso 1937 Guernica

1. Picasso refused to talk about the painting's symbolism

2. Early reviews on the painting weren't all positive

3. Year's later, Germany used the painting in a military campaign

4. The painting was vandalized by an antiwar activist

5. Guernica was a commissioned painting

The first time I looked at Picasso's Guernica, it was a bit confusing but showed a lot of emotion in a few of the faces that were painted. There is no color to it either so that made it hard to point out what exactly was involved in the painting, to begin with. I definitely did not picture it to be what it actually looks like. After researching and finding out interesting facts about the painting, I can say that I do view the art differently compared to the first time I saw it.

This is a canvas painting I bought from Bed Bath & Beyond and is hanging in my room. I bought it because I absolutely love dandelions and it goes with my room “theme.” This is definitely a replica of the original because you can tell the paint really isn't paint but printed on. I think this art is beautiful because I love the simplicity.

3. 

Baggage I think I am bringing over into art is how hard I think it is to appreciate the effort, time, and thinking process that happened behind it. I always make it seem like it’s a lot more complicated to understand. I am 21 year old female from Pennsylvania. I am white and love to dance and go to the gym for fun. I am not a member of any specific organized group. I work as a bartender and server at a seafood restaurant on the weekends. Something unique about me is that I trust almost anyone that I meet until they give me a reason not to.
