❛  --- ballet’s been my thing since I was a little girl, and Christian’s been my boyfriend since we were 15... It’s hard letting go of both of those things, even if one is the reason my back constantly hurts and the other is now on the other side of the world... but, while in new york city -- maybe I should try something new! It can’t be that hard right? ❜ Tara only ever spoke too much when she was nervous, or scared, or both. The fear and confusion at trying something new was evident. Ballet was all about doing the same thing until you perfected it, and only then being able to explore (and explore in a very restrictive sense).

                     ❛  --- This isn’t due to Grace or Chad, Sammy... I hated being in the corp, I hate how restrictive everything is and --- I’ve never wanted to put dance first... you know that. I know that. the whole school knows that... and My back will never heal properly.... I’ll always be one fall away from being paralysed... and unlike you and everyone else... I don’t want to risk it. It’s all I think about... I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at those red point shoes again without thinking about you in the hospital, or my back being broken in this studio! ❜ What had happened to her back continued to haunt her dreams. But, she hadn’t told them. She never told them until it was too late. Until something completely consumed her. They were meant to put dance before everything and she had... and where had it gotten her? permanently injured. Constantly in pain. She could barely handle the tour. She couldn’t imagine years of this pain. She just couldn’t.

what saskia does, followed with her fall in third year causes a sever anxiety towards dancing. we see this in the movie. We also see this develop during her third year whenever she dances, and especially during the final performance where she has to adapt her solo because her back can’t handle certain things anymore. Tara could dance again, she was still amazing but there was fear and trauma there.

𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐄𝐋𝐒𝐄?  Why had she expected her friend to be happy to see her? Sure, they had been more. On and off. But especially after everything last year.... She had expected something a little more, anything over than what he just gave her.  Her arms folded and she offered a glare.  ❛  --- really?  I phoned you all over the break, you promised you’d be back for final year, you didn’t show up until a few days ago and all you can say is ‘okay - i’ll see you around’ ❜ 

The hurt was evident on her face. Usually she would be angry. She’d scream at him, but she couldn’t. She missed Sammy and she missed him more than anything. She might be with Ben, but her mind constantly went back to Christian. It always did. No matter how many times he mad her cry, made her upset, said something cold and distant, or even joked about her. The tears fell down her cheek.  ❛  --- fine, be like that. I’m still glad Miss Raine let you back in to finish the year... ❜

❛  --- what about Abigail? you didn’t tell kat and i about your crush on her! and you didn’t tell me you thought Christian was dating or doing whatever with Kat! ❜ her response was childish. Even she knew that. One wrong didn’t make a right. She had learnt that the hard way. This was probably her last night at the academy. This was their spot. Outside, by the steps. She brought her legs up towards her chest. She looked up apologetically.  ❛  I’m --- sorry I didn’t answer your calls... I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about my back, and about Saskia..., I’m sorry about everything... i was angry about the whole thing with Kat, and my back, and the fact that someone i looked up to could--- hurt me like that... and now Miss Raine wants me to come back.... this whole year, the three of us have never been in the academy at the same time... it’s like the universe just --- hates us. ❜
