this is my interp on @vero-lynn and @redstrangers brian. they have me in a chokehold and I couldn’t NOT draw him. I hope I did him justice for y'all.

I APPRECIATE AND LOVE YALLS RANTS BTW! as a tim and brian lover myself its helped me tighten my grip around tim’s character and his dynamic with brian, along with masky’s as well. augh. I love and hate them with all my soul.

anyway this is an unfinished piece i probably won’t ever touch again BUT it is however dedicated to @vero-lynn ‘s recent post about masky and brian. SO THANK YOU FOR POSTING BANGERS

WAIT. WAAAAAAAIT. WAIT. YOU’RE ONTO SOMETHING. WAIT.

"Brian/Hoody manipulated Masky and made him do things he didn't want to and made him into his own attacking dog, using him only for his own benefit and dragging him and Tim into the operator bullshit and stalking first!" Some people say, and calmly I push them to sit down, reaching for a gun. /JOKE.

On a more serious note, this take couldn't be more wrong. I'm gonna lay it down because it's been bothering me for a while and this is MY blog and I will yap about anything I want.

BRIAN COULDN'T HAVE STARTED THE "HUNT" ON THE OPERATOR.

Why?

Because he didn't KNOW of it's existence, hell, not even TIM knew - but do you know WHO knew? MASKY!!!!!!

MASKY knew of the operator's existence and what it does to a persons mind and how to protect yourself from it!!! THAT'S LITERALLY HIS ROLE. He's been protecting Tim from it since Tim was a CHILD.

There were no issues for anyone until Tim met Alex. And then Alex started to change, and do you know who would pick on possible signs of the operator sickness? WHO'S THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS OF IT'S EXISTENCE??? MASKY!!!!!

And can we put 1+1 together and understand that the only person masky would ask for help would be BRIAN? because that's Tim's closest friend? Someone they both grew to trust? Someone he knows wouldn't let him down? Okay. Good.

Masky Is the only one aware of the operator. He's the only one who'd know that you have to protect your face from it. He's the only one with access to the pills and knowing they work against it. He's only one who'd try to get rid of it.

Here comes my first issue:

People treating Brian like some kind of mastermind at the BEGINNING of this stalking during marble hornets. Because he wasn't. He had no idea what was going on - he was following whatever his BEST FRIEND told him to because he could SEE HIS OTHER BEST FRIEND changing and hurting. He'd take the camera and stalk and record. He'd deal with sickness on his own (that's shown in the few entries I keep talking about where he's missing, running late or is said to be not feeling well.) he's doing all of this, and he's constantly lead on AND LIED TO.

Brian had to be given a reason to call Tim a liar. And he calls him a liar AFTER he gets the medical files. Are you paying attention? Jingle jingle jingle..

And what is in the medical files? Tim dealing with the symptoms since he's been a child. What else is in it? That HE IS the reason these things are happening. NOT ALEX. and what Brian/Hoody doing this whole time? Even during marble hornets? STALKING THE WRONG PERSON. because someone was feeding him the LIE that Alex was the cause of all their trouble. Brian is the one being manipulated in this entire scenario, not masky.

Brian is SCARED. Brian is CONFUSED in entry 51 when he starts picking up on the bad vibes Alex is giving him. He's looking around. He's PARANOID. He isn't this smart calculated guy. HE WAS SCARED. He picked up the camera on instinct because he's been told to do that!! He knows he should record!! And he was TERRIFIED. none of you understand what entry 51 does to me. That's just a guy desperately trying to help his friends, getting the short end of the stick -

BECAUSE MASKY LEAVES HIM. HE LEAVES HIM BEHIND TO ROT AFTER FEEDING HIM LIES AND GIVING HIM A PURPOSE.

Brian is so desperately clinging to the purpose he was given - someone who can help - by masky. He wanted to be helpful and useful. But HE CAN'T do all of this alone. He NEEDS his other half. Especially later on when he's hurt and his brain jumbled.

AND MASKY WILLINGLY COMES BACK TO HIM EACH TIME. Because masky knows they DO HAVE a purpose, but masky GIVES IT UP. Brian doesn't, because he can't. He doesn't have a home or a life to come back to because he SHOULDN'T EXIST ANYMORE, and yet he does.

Hoody later on is violent, desperate and messy, because he can't do anything alone. Masky doesn't want to help him anymore because that's NOT Brian. That's a SHELL of a person that pretty much has no idea what he's doing either. He knows so much but he can't put it to work.

ANYWAY.

MASKY IS NOT A VICTIM.

Anytime I see takes about him being manipulated and used by hoody I get so ... Ggggrgghhh hop off my poor man who was broken and had his pieces rearranged to someone else's liking.

this is an AU design but i am pretty happy with it so i'll go ahead and post it

so the AU is inspired by the lore of dead by daylight? basically the ark sucked a bunch of people in through the years and no matter where and divided them up into: the ones going through agony & the ones inflicting the agony

survivors and hunters <- distinct from "killers" ok

anyways the ark feeds off people's despair and agony and stuff so it enlists the help of its hunters to help it inflict those on people within its domains (which are kinda like shifting areas in space devoid of a specific place in time) and all the hunters kinda have one they haunt the most, but hunters can wander

the domains themselves usually have a theme of their location like: the woods, the desert, abandoned locations like malls and old factories, etc. and they're kinda alive on their own? infected by the ark and its influence

so basically brian was chosen as a hunter. and he hates this. but the ark rewards hunters for doing their jobs with energy (they dont need to eat or drink otherwise), stamina, strength, resistance to wounds and sickness, and a like dopamine high for inflicting pain. literally encourages them to be terrible. and hey if the hunters don't do their job? then the ark picks off the survivors eventually itself. in the worst, slowest, most painful ways

so brian's workaround this, because he realizes people are gonna die no matter what, is to become as lethal as possible. make it as quick and painless as he can when he can't just...butt in and sabotage the other hunters or the ark. (because there is a sort of puzzle/goal to the survivors being moved around that they must accomplish to "win" aka get out for then and just be placed in down-time until their next game. and if they lose they just respawn to do it again until they lose/win. lol like i said: very dbd inspired)

but yeah! so i changed brian's design to fit his MO in this. so his preferred turf is wooded areas so he's wearing hunter's camo and dark clothes to blend in with the trees and brush. he also has multiple very sharp very long knives so he can reach those lethal areas better and deliver a quick blow to get the job done. preferably with little to no fight because he got the jump on his victim. he also layers very potent poison on his blades in case he misses or something and can't finish the job easily. they're going regardless.

but since brian does things like this. the ark HATES him, and theres like...a ton of lore more because me and some friends are RPing in it (i also am writing Evan and HABIT in it), but ive already said so much so have this

Something I like and I'm delusional about is the way Alex's pages say "always watching" as a negative, paranoid thing about the operator, he's being stalked and followed. He's scared of it.

While whenever Hoody tells Jay that he's watching and that he saw, he's probably trying to reassure him that he's not alone. Someone is watching him in a way they'll lend a helping hand if needed.

Idk idk I'm right and sooo right and always just so right about everything.
