i do think that people kinda miss what's going on with the anti-Irish sentiments in Steven Universe. Rebecca Sugar is Irish-American, so it's their attempt to grapple with being a member of a diaspora, as well as Irish history in general. Pearl's writing is a bit strong at times, but she's not supposed to be in the right when she starts talking about how the British should have finished the job hundreds of years ago. i think it's tasteless at times, like I don't know if such an upbeat mood was really the right sound for that musical number, but i can understand where they were coming from
