On this day 41 years ago, Giovanni Battaglin won the Giro d’Italia.But the moment when he crossed the finish line wasn’t just his biggest sporting achievement. It was a beginning. A few months after the victory, he founded his eponymous bike company… And considering that today the Battaglin company is still building steel frames, I’d say things have come full circle! If this isn`t l'Eroica... what else 😎 See this beautiful Girardengo, built in the 60`s €1,195.00 Eroica 57 c-t 57 t-t 13cm headset Costante Girardengo (1893-1978) the 1st Campionissimo: "Champion of champions"a true cycling hero! In his career this cyclist was even more popular than Mussolini in the 20`s. He lived in Novi Logure and trains ere ordered to stop at his hometwon for a salute. An honour only preserved for the head of state. Girardengo has won the Giro d 'Italia twice, 6 times Milan- San Remo and 3 times the Giro de Lombardia. Also he topped the world ranking in 5 years between 1919 and 1926. He would have won even more if not his career was interrupted by the 1st Worldwar. He had his career between 1912 and 1936. Later on het was active as a coach and succesful coached Gino Bartali to win the Tour de France in 1938. He lend his name to a motorcycle company and a bicycle brand from which this bicycle originates. This eroica racing bike has nice classical Northern Italian details from the 40-50 era. The paint and painted details are very well preserved. The parts of this racing bike are beautiful and originally from the era.
