Tips To Increase Training Retention
Studies suggest that within an hour of learning new information, people will forget approximately 50% of it. After 24 hours, that goes up to 70%. When training your staff, this could be quite detrimental to your company. So how can you increase information retention and improve profitability within your company?
 1.     Spaced Learning: This is a learning methodology where learners are given bite-sized chunks of content and are then presented with situations that require the learned information to repeatedly be used in different, creative situations. This reinforces what has been learned and increases information retention.
 2.     Create a Learning Culture: Create a learning environment by running frequent training events. Doing so will help reinforce training and increase the amount of knowledge that is retained.
 3.     Make It Relevant: The human brain is selective as to what information it retains. That’s why, when training your team, help them to understand why the information is relevant. Understanding the relevance and value of what they are learning will help increase information retention.
Coming up with content to train your team can be quite overwhelming and time consuming. Here at Reets Drying Academy, we’ve created an online training course so that you don’t have to! With a video library boasting over 150 videos each about 10 minutes long, you can educate everyone on your team on an individual basis or together during team meetings. Schedule your water restoration technician classes with us today! We truly believe that education is one of the most important steps to building a successful business.

3 Tips For Getting Your Employees Excited About Training
Training can sometimes be low on the priority list for your employees. It’s a challenge sometimes to get your team excited about training in any form. There are many reasons for this, but it could be partially the fault of management or the owner. How is that? Sometimes an owner or manager could do better at selling the idea of training to their employees. How can that be done?
Visit Reets Drying Academy to know about our water damage restoration training series! We work hard to give you a one of a kind experience at our location.
1. Let Your Employees Know How They Will Benefit
Sometimes an employee needs to be shown all the ways training can benefit them. For instance, it might save them time in the long run, it might further their career, or you could attach monetary incentives to the training they accomplish. Doing that with online training is a great step. Help them realize that training online will be convenient for them, they can do it anywhere, they can go at their own pace and so forth.
2. Involve Management
Why not get your management involved? Get their input, and have them be the cheerleaders for online training. Doing this will promote a culture of learning within your company. If they take the lead in setting training as a priority, your employees are more likely to also see it as a priority.
3. Give Your Employees Recognition
Everyone wants to be recognized for their accomplishments. Do that with your employee’s educational accomplishments. You could reward your employee in some way, make a certificate for them and place it somewhere public, mention them at your company meeting, or you could share their achievements through a company newsletter. Our online training system makes it easy to see a user’s progress. Why not create a friendly competition out of that?
The whole process of training is made much easier with the online training we offer. We use an entire Learning Management System where you can access well over a hundred training videos, documents, and exams. Use it to your advance to educate your entire team. We’ve made it easy for you. The easiest way is going to be the most effective way. Why not book a free trial and demo of ReetsTV today?

What Is An IICRC WRT and ASD Certification?
What Is A WRT Certification?
There are 30 different IICRC certifications in total. All these certifications range from restoration to cleaning. Which one is right for you? What do they all mean? Let’s get back to the basics.
The first certification a restorer needs is the WRT certification. That stands for Water Damage Restoration Technician. Here’s the description of that course straight from the IICRC: “The Water Damage Restoration Technician course is designed to teach restoration personnel that perform remediation work, to give them a better concept of water damage, it’s effects and techniques for drying of structures. This course will give residential and commercial maintenance personnel the background to understand the procedures necessary to deal with water losses, sewer backflows, and contamination such as mold. (3-day course; 19 hours, not including exam time, lunch and breaks.)”
That course is a great start for anyone just entering the restoration industry. But, one thing to note is that it’s mostly classroom training. A great next step is the ASD certification. That’s where you start getting a lot of great practical knowledge.
What Is An ASD Certification?
So what does ASD stand for? Applied Structural Drying Technician. This certification is going to be the next step in any restorer’s journey. Something to note, however, is that you have to have your WRT certification before taking an ASD course.
What is taught in an ASD course? Again, here’s what the IICRC says: “The IICRC-approved Applied Structural Drying (ASD) course is designed to teach the effective, efficient and timely drying of water-damaged structures and contents, using comprehensive classroom and hands-on training, in order to facilitate appropriate decision making within a restorative drying environment. (3-daycourse; 21 hours, not including exam time, lunch and breaks.)”
The ASD is where you really get into the nitty-gritty. While there is classroom instruction, it is combined with the practical skills taught in a mock home, or preferably, a real flood house. You get to use real equipment to put into practice what you’ve been learning.
Ready To Take Your First Steps?
Now that we know what these certifications mean, are you ready to start your path as a restorer? Do you have technicians working for you who need training and certification? Then we’ve got you covered.
We are an IICRC approved school, and we offer a variety of courses. The main course we offer is actually a combination of the WRT course and ASD course in 5 days. It’s a great opportunity to get 2 critical certifications, in less time than it would take to do both separately. Already have a WRT certification? We also offer a 3-day IICRC ASD course on its own. We hope to see you at one of those courses!
