Ahem,
I've been told my friends that I should write what comes to my mind more so here is that.
Today's Topic is this Taylor Swift Lyric
"When you are young they assume you know nothing."
Okay so I'm gonna break this down like I did in my mind. When it comes to music it's all about how you interpret it. Everyone's interpretations are different and that is totally fine. It's one of the reasons I'm a big fan of TV girls Blue Hair. In my interpretation of this lyric it reminded me of when adults say things like
"Respect your elders."
"I'm an adult. That's not how you speak to me."
As a child whenever I heard these things I would get confused. Just because someone is older does not mean they know better. Yes, they have more experiences. They've made more mistakes, but not everyone has been through more experiences. You're telling me that a child that was raised in abuse knows less about abuse than someone older than them just on the basis that they're older?
Back to the lyric. It feels like it stems from the deep culture and root everyone (especially children like Taylor) is not equal. Adults deserve respect but respect goes both ways and just because you're a child does not mean you're ignorant. In the world Gen Z is growing up around currently shows that maybe Gen Z does know more. Maybe they are less desensitized. It's a new era and with that comes more knowledge that elders may not be as updated on and that is perfectly fine
What is not fine is using your age as an excuse to belittle or act all high and mighty about. At the end of the day everyone is living for the first time. Everyone has new experiences. This is a new world, which calls for new ideas.
That's what the lyrics are about. Assuming that just because you're a child you don't get the same respect.

To be loved is to be changed.
Not in a traditional sense. You shouldn't change yourself for anyone. Especially not to get someone to love you. What I mean is that you are an accumulation of little things the people you love or the people that love you do or say.
Maybe it's a saying your best friend says or how you hold your pencil because your grade school teacher taught you that.
It's like writing in a new notebook. At some point the pages fray and the ink may bleed through just the tiniest. The book gets larger and larger until it spills open. People would say the book is well loved. It doesn't look the same as the beginning. It's changed and that's okay. Being loved is about changing and growing in ways that make you feel happy.
You can fill your own pages or have someone write small notes every couple pages, but either way you're loved and your notebook is filled a little more everyday.

Ahem,
let's talk about Walburga Black and Euphemia Potter.
Both are parents that failed in different places. They are in no way the same, but Euphemia was not always the perfect mother and Walburga was not always the worst mother. Everything is for a reason.
To start, let's take them apart for a moment and start with Walburga. There's a specific topic that reminds me of her everytime it's brought up.
Nature vs Nurture
Nature vs Nurture is the argument of whether or not serial killers or overall bad people are just bad people when they're born or if it's their environment that shapes them into the people they are today. While most scientists and people would say it's a mix of both for the majority, which is correct, I would say that it can be just nurture and can be just nature.
Walburga falls into the category of Nurture. Her environment shaped who she was. She was not evil from birth. Quite the opposite actually. She was born into a family full of incest and abuse. All actions have consequences. She was a child who according to the time period was most likely groomed by men and picked and prodded at by women. She had to be tough and hide her weaknesses for weakness meant consequences and pain. No child should ever have to go through what she went through and I'll go into deeper detail in a separate post about everything she went through, but it's important to note that she was placed in a mold and told to fit or die.
I believe her and Sirius are more alike than most think. She was bright and bold. A shining star. The only difference between her and Sirius when they were younger is that he was a man and had an escape. Hogwarts back when Walburga was a child was obviously more monitored and less free. The difference between the two were heavy, especially for the difference in time periods.
When Sirius was born after years of Walburga being trapped and broken into the shell she was she probably broke realizing she had brought a child into a world she herself barely fit in. She was angry. Sirius was so similar to her. Everything she was, except he was an heir. He was held in high regard and she was just his lousy mother. Never Walburga. Just a Black. That anger stemmed from the hate of herself. She saw so much of herself in Sirius. The only unfortunate part was that she hated herself for bringing him into this world. Hated seeing the little girl she used to be with bright eyes and a small grin. Her postpartum depression didn't help with this either.
She had brought a child into this world and her husband took the child and decided that's all he needed. He had his heir. He'd create a back up one immediately once Walburga could. (Which was almost immediately after Sirius was born it just took a while for Regulus to actually come to be. Something else Walburga was blamed for.). She had lost the final piece that was holding her mind together. I don't support her next actions but when you're so far down into the hole it's hard to release such big and large emotions without lashing out. Unfortunately she took all her anger towards herself and everyone out on Sirius. This next part may be hard to understand, but Walburga did love Sirius. She really did. She just hurt him because she was hurt. That doesn't excuse her actions, but a proof of her love is her never actively going after Sirius. A family of the sacred 28 could've easily dragged Sirius back. Showed up at Hogwarts or even dragged him back at the train station but she didn't. She saw he was safe and healthy. She knew he'd never be safe around her. Never be safe in that life. So she let her baby boy go. Even if it killed her to know that he needed to be safe from her and everything else.
She did check up on him from time to time without him knowing though. Through Euphemia Potter. Silent head tilts at the train station and small notes that burned just before anyone else could see them. Now Euphemia never spoke directly but she understood the pain of watching your son leave and be better. She understood just enough to give her those slips of paper.
Walburga may have failed in most parts of motherhood but it doesn't mean she never cared. It doesn't mean she was this horrible and cruel person. She was broken.
Onto Euphemia. I won't be surprised if I get hate for this. I've prepared for this, but you're telling me James "always smiling and you've never seen him cry" Potter wasn't depressed in some form of way? Yes, James was rich and his parents were generally supportive, but no child is that happy all the time. He had the dark parts of his mind that he was scared to let other show. Euphemia was a great mother but no parent is perfect. She watched James carry all of his friends trauma and hurt and even let one of them live with them, yet she never actually checked up on James. She never just assumed that his smile meant he was fine. A single question would've let the flood gates out yet she never asked it.
Euphemia grew up a tad bit rough but overall family oriented. We know this mostly from the books and more. Which is why it was passed down to her family dynamic. Unfortunately, she also passed down that every man should be fine and happiness should be your only emotion because you've got everything you could ever want. Why would you be sad if you were doing well? Sadly that's not how life works. Once again, she was a great mother but she lacked in specific places.
I don't want to go into great detail on Euphemia and her childhood because that'll be a separate post, but you get the jist. Now to compare Walburga and Euphemia.
I see specific little things that they have similar. Euphemia tended to ignore her child on his bad days hoping it would go away. Maybe give him a small plate of fruit but that's it. Walburga always noticed the days that were worse for Sirius. Always. They were connected in that way. Those days she'd stay quiet when he accidentally shattered a cup from his shaky hands. Just point her nose up and tell him to clean it carefully. She'd quietly have an elf trailing him all day to ensure he had all the help he needed at any time. She'd even let Regulus off his lessons for that day so someone could support him even if she couldn't. One parent ignored while the other helped silently. I'm sorry, but it's true. There are more small things that they both are better at than each other so if you'd like a separate long post please let me know. I LOVE pointing out that Euphemia was not the perfect mother and Walburga wasn't exactly an evil mother.

Love is not physical. It's not something you can grasp in your hands. You can't bottle it up and leave it on a shelf. You can't physically give it to someone. Yet somehow it's the strongest yet most fragile thing on this earth. It lasts through generations that worked hard to provide and give you a better life.
They try to give you everything and they do. You'll be the one to get an education. You'll be the one who doesn't have to get a job to support the family paycheck to paycheck. You'll be the one to be successful.
What they won't give you is what they had.
They'll forget to provide love and support when it's needed. You won't be able to lean on them when you need it. They'll scream and tell and turn your home into the war they tried so desperately to escape from. Only this one isn't outside with guns and bullets firing. This one is sharp words that beat you down and inside the one safe space you were supposed to have.
So yes, they'll give you everything they didn't have. But they'll forget to give you everything they did have. Because humans are selfish. We take for granted what we have always striving for more.
Yes, you lacked the money and heaters on the coldest nights of the year, but you had each other to keep you warm, did you not?
Yes, you had to get a job and even stop your education early, but you had a warm and safe family to come back to, did you not?
Humans take for granted the things we have had.

Should I make mood boards for different traumas and disorders? Not to romanticize it but sometimes it's nice to see it recognized in media.
I'd do two different mood boards for each side. The more "happy" side where you'll see the glamorized or even "good" side of it and then the more less recognized and glamorized side. The darker and hidden away side of it
Idk if it's stupid let me know
