nat shushes you as you giggle. lottie told her to specially not to give you anymore chocolate today since you had already had some. but of course, your mama couldn’t refuse your big doe eyes.. it’s not her fault, really!

of course, you go all giggly and excited up to mommy, with chocolate all over your chin and she sighs, pursing her lips before looking up at nat, who looked at you with betrayal.

“natalie.”

“you little traitor!”

meanwhile, you’re so pleased with yourself, completely oblivious to the Mom Look lottie is giving nat. lottie kneels down, carefully wiping the chocolate off your face with a napkin, her touch gentle, as if she’s trying to gently get you to understand that this is a bad idea. “baby, too much of that will make you sick, okay?”

but then nat just has to add, “pfft. he’s fine. right, bud?” and holds up a hand for a high-five, which you eagerly smack. she knows you were just trying to show your mommy, like you always do.

and that’s the thing, she’s right. you’re not sick. you feel great. chocolate doesn’t make you feel sick! you’re a big boy.

“yeah, i’m fine, mommy.” lottie, though, doesn’t look as convinced, but she lets it slide this time.

and of course, it’s lottie who’s taking care of you. you rest your head on her chest as she rubs your back, her gentle voice saying, “did the tea make you feel better, baby?” you nod,

nat’s sitting on the couch, pretending she’s not feeling guilty. but she knows. she looks at you and lottie with a sheepish grin, mumbling, “okay, okay, maybe i overdid it.”

lut lottie just sighs, keeping her hand on your back as you snuggle closer. she kisses your forehead softly and says, “that’s why I set rules, nat.”

nat groans, sinking deeper, and lottie’s still rubbing your back as you slowly begin to feel better. “okay, fine,” nat mutters, rolling her eyes. “lesson learned. i’m sorry, buddy.” she gently ruffles your hair. “s’kay, mama, it was worth it.”
