A HAND WENT to rub against his arm, right up and down his bicep, as if guarding it. Memories flashed through his mind, recollection of various moments where Tyler had grabbed him, slammed him into walls, hit him, and then the hands around his throat-

HE SHOOK HIS head clear, imagining the thoughts flying out of the sides of his head. Sucking in a shaky breath, he continued, focusing more at picking at a scab on his hand instead.

" SKIPS KNEW SOMETHING was wrong the whole time. So did Pops, Muscle Man and Fives -- even Maellard and Clara. I guess I was the only one who wasn't aware of how bad it was. They watched out for him while I was at work and if something happened while I was with them, they always jumped in to protect me. I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have back then, but I guess I was just...blindsided by the good I saw in him. "

HE TENSED, LOOKING away for a moment.

" HE PUT ME in the hospital a couple times. After the second time, I realized how bad it was, opened my eyes, and got the hell away from him. Luckily we weren't living together at the time, but I stayed at the house for a while because I thought he would try to break into my apartment or something when I was sleeping. I remember coming back one day to grab clothes and McFluffin's food when I saw the doorknob broken but nothing had happened beyond that...thankfully. I stayed away until the coast was clear enough to come back home. "

ANOTHER PAUSE, THIS time, there was a look of almost...relief in his eyes.

" I DIDN'T HEAR anything about him until I was 28. One day, I was watching the news when they announced City Stalker had gotten a new victim...and it was Tyler. Apparently his death was so brutal they only identified him by DNA from the blood and gore splattered all over the walls and floor. It was like that one scene from Dexter in the hotel room, someone said. How so much blood could be in one human was so weird. But...he was gone. I didn't have to be afraid of him anymore. I still wonder who did it, if it's someone who knew what he did or not... "

hey em, tell me about death demons

" Y'know...this prolly woulda' been a better question for someone who's actually familiar wit' Death Demon history like Skips, but...I'll give it a shot.

So basically, once upon a long ass time ago, and I mean a real long ass time ago, there were these two bad bitches called ' the Guardians of Life. ' They created all of time and space, life as we know it. They, determining that there needs to be a balance, created Death. But that one Death turned to two. Then three. Then billions.

These Deaths wreaked havoc on all of Life's creations, and Mister an' Missus Life were pissed out of their minds, but this was...kind of what they were created for, so the Lifes gave 'em a verbal warning to calm down.

They all responded by sending an asteroid t' Earth that wiped out almost everything on the planet -- see, the more souls they took, the more powerful they got. And, planning on overthrowing the Lifes, they needed as much power as possible.

Because of the extermination on Earth, the Lifes decided, for the sake of all of their future creations, including their new lil' jackasses of fetuses they called the ' Guardians of Eternal Youth, ' they declared war on the Deaths.

From that, they and their kids teamed up and created the Guardian Angels, their army t' take down Deaths. The Deaths, knowing they couldn't just take this lyin' down, so they created their own army: us Death Demons. We got a fuckton of powers to counteract those angel losers.

The Guardians won the war, and Deaths were all weeded out, only one per planet. And the Deaths couldn't create anymore Demons, but they found a loophole: they can't create NEW demons, but no one said they can't turn people INTO demons.

And there began the split: ancient Death Demons, and modern Death Demons. That latter one is my brand.
