L'Astre Noir by Calypte
Words: 39,880 (and counting)
Rating: Mature
Pairings: Sirius Black/Remus Lupin/Peter Pettigrew/James Potter/Lily Evans Potter, Barty Crouch Jr./Evan Rosier, lots of good gen as for Regulus (none of which have been romantic so far)
What's inside: BAMF Regulus, Trans Regulus, Autistic Regulus, Seer Regulus, Animagus Regulus, Regulus Lives, Horcrux Hunting, Sirius and Regulus Both Run Away, Suicide Attempt, PTSD, Magical Theory, Non-Canon Complaint, lots of feelings and magic explained
Author's Summary:
"Sirius Black was six years old when his baby sibling was born. From the moment of their birth, Sirius swore to himself to always look out for them. By the time they're both adults, he might have lapsed in that protection briefly, but he fully intends to resume honoring it now.
Regulus Black doesn't care very much for being protected. If anything, his meddlesome older brother makes accomplishing what he has to do all that much harder, because Sirius actively tries to keep him 'safe', and safe is a rather difficult place from which to achieve much.
Or: A very non-canon compliant horcrux hunt, developing a system of magic, and focusing on the Black brothers."

Power the Dark Lord Knows Not by Fantismal, Jormandugr
Words: 328,310
Pairing: Wolfstar, but regarding Regulus, it's purely gen!
Author's Summary:
"“Regulus,” Sirius finally said, once he trusted he had his own voice under control, “has never once let me help him, even before I was a filthy blood-traitor. Why the fuck do you think I’d be able to save him now?” Tomorrow night. Kreacher’s words throbbed inside his head. Regulus will die tomorrow night. Sirius definitely wasn’t going to be getting any sleep at all this week. "Sirius thought he had cut all ties with his family, but when Kreacher shows up in his bedroom with a dire warning, he's hardly able to let his idiot little brother die. And when he learns about the Horcrux his brother was chasing, he's hardly about to let him take on Voldemort alone. But getting tangled up in the House of Black again is not the best way to prove his innocence among an already-suspicious Order. Sirius has to walk a fine line if he wants to keep everyone he loves alive. (This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. NO other stories in this series are required reading, but all are suggested to flesh out the backstory.)"
Why I like it:
Horcrux hunting! Well, it certainly is important. But also the story makes Regulus' character believable, and is not Blacks Bashing, although it does contain more Black Family than just the brothers and Walburga. It's a Regulus Lives AU, but it keeps the war real and visible. There's a lot of Regulus-Kreacher relationship, too.  Even though you might not enjoy them in a classical sense, Peter-centric chapters and his backstory are some of the best I have read.
Oh, and yes, "Power the Dark Lord Knows Not" is novel-length. Enjoy (and read the rest of the stories right after this one; I truly love the Black Family dynamics, check it out).

Choices by MesserMoon
Words: 575,055 (WIP, it will be slightly longer)
Pairing: Jegulus
Author's Summary:
"People make mistakes, but they also make choices. It’s important to James, that difference. He does his best not to confuse the two."
Why I like it:
Such an amazing piece of writing! Great style, a pleasure to read. Long enough to sastisfy binge-readers, but, mind you, never boring.
It's a canon compliant story, but still with Jegulus. How's that possible? By making the relationship very real and making it fit in the wizarding world, so not really a happy one. Yeah, it's all angsty.
A story about tragic love, heartbreaking in every single chapter, with beautiful supporting characters. And, of course, the best portrayal of Regulus himself, capable, but at the same time not. Totally worth your time, go on and give it a read.
