how The Fallen Potential Star's reno and kikoru feel about the whole situation since they're only people know about kaiju no 8 identity from the start.

Reno ichikawa : Reno woke up in the hospital, expecting to hear that Kafka made it out okay—only to find out that Kaiju No. 8 had been eliminated by Vice-Captain Hoshina. It didn't take him long to put the pieces together.He tried to deny it at first. Kafka wasn’t officially listed as KIA, but he was missing. Yet, Reno knew. The timing. The circumstances. It was all too perfect. His hero had saved him a second time… only to never come back. Reno stopped talking for days. Iharu noticed first—how Reno wasn’t reacting, how his usual determination turned hollow. The person who inspired him to join the JAKDF was gone. And worse? Reno couldn’t even tell anyone the truth. He started training harder, pushing himself until exhaustion. If he couldn’t have his senior back, then he'd become strong enough to never let this happen again. But deep down, no amount of training would fill the void Kafka left behind.

kikoru shinomiya : kikoru who wait and hope for kafka return savely after saving reno and transforming as kaiju no 8. He never return that day. Kikoru, refused to accept it. She waited for Kafka to return. Days turned to weeks, but she kept telling herself: ‘He’ll come back. He has to. He promised.’ But then came the official announcement—Kaiju No. 8 had been eliminated. There was no way to confirm, no body, no real closure… just the harsh truth that her guardian figure was never coming back and she never able to meet him anymore. The worst part? She should’ve told him. She should’ve said something. He was the first person to ever make her feel safe, to see her as just Kikoru and not the Shinomiya heir. And now, she’d never get the chance to tell him how much he mattered.

The fallen potential star AU (part 1)

This AU is basically kinda darker What if AU in kaiju no 8. feel free to read and use it as inspiration

the timeline based on Sagamihara mission arc in kaiju no 8 anime episode 7 and 8

after kaiju no 8 saving reno and iharu and fight no.9. kaiju no 8 tried run in alley but he accidently he met soushirou. back then soushirou doesn't know yet that kafka is kaiju no 8 and see him as ordinary daikaiju thet need to be kill. so soushirou start to fight the kaiju no 8.

what if kaiju no 8 suddenly froze when he try punch soushirou sword as distraction and soushirou notice this and able to land finishing and deadly slash kaiju no 8 core. As result kaiju no 8 died in the hand of soushirou and kafka was consider missing after the sagamihara mission (I mean duh he already dead as kaiju but not like third division know about it back then.).

the irony is soushirou is kafka benefactor and is the one who giving kafka chance to join jakdf by pass as cadet. atleast kafka died peacefully and never blamed him. kafka knows that vice captain would never kiil him if he knows and kafka acnowledged that his death is no one fault and more on cirtumstancial death.

what make it more heartwreaching that in main universe, right after sagamihara mission and reno and iharu get hospital discharged. kafka's finally get position as official jakdf officer in third division due his kaiju knowledge and finding kaiju weakness giving a lot contribution in sagamihara mission.

but in this au, kafka never get to hear about his contribution get recognized and get position as jakdf officer and soushirou never able to congratulate and giving kafka the good news about his status.
