I think the tma characters generally Know about contemporary queer labels and identities, they're really not that old and jon uses language like "male presenting" and georgie and melanie have jobs that require them to be very on social media. it's not out of the question that any of them might have pride stickers on their laptops or would introduce themselves with their pronouns if they thought the social situation was relaxed and gay enough. the important and beautiful thing to remember is that this does not preclude any of them from having extremely weird internalized queerphobia and very repressed relationships with their gender and sexuality, because I am a young adult in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty five and I know plenty of people with those exact problems. jon can know what the colors on the asexual flag mean and be casual friends with trans people and still turn around and say "well my issues with sex and my body are because I'm uhhh a fucked up little freak? probably?" and that wouldn't be any contradiction. you don't need to temporally lock him into a mid 90s understanding of queerness, he can be the pinnacle of a modern man and have issues aplenty. x

Big on human experimentation, does not care if the humans in question consent. Genuinely believes his experimentation is for the greater good of humanity but doesn't really care about the human suffering he causes on the way there. He starts out as a silly mad scientist stereotype but gets a lot of emotional depth as the series goes on.

This man went into a spaceship to experiment on his fellow crew members. Then after the first bunch died he did it AGAIN. He went BACK TO SPACE to experiment with a weird disease thing.

how d'ya think eiffel would fare in the timeloop? what about hera? I'm assuming eiffel'd get out much faster than lovelace, considering the way to get out was getting mad and destroying a bunch of stuff :P

eiffel's immediate thought upon realizing he was caught in a time loop would be that it was karmic punishment for having never seen groundhog day. he always feared it might happen. he's definitely the kind of guy who's got "plans" for what he'd do in a bunch of trope-y fictional scenarios, but his time loop fantasy is probably like, catching up on sleep and getting really good at guitar and spending an insane amount of money on fast food, none of which he can even try to do on the hephaestus.

... not that he'd have time, anyway. like you said, he'd probably get out of it pretty quickly. it'd only take him a couple of days in the time loop before he started, like, coming to work in his underwear and saying things he really shouldn't, and sooner rather than later he would break something important, with the same kind of 'it's not a big deal, it'll be there again tomorrow and nobody will even remember this' attitude lovelace had about it. and, while everyone is looking at him with varying degrees of murderous intent, he'd be like, um... i did tell you guys about the time loop this time... right?

hera... i don't think would do well, because i think it would make her doubt her own perception of reality instead of reality itself, and she'd keep it to herself for a worryingly long time and then just snap and have a breakdown about it (that seems to come out of nowhere to everyone else.) she would probably remember minkowski talking about days repeating themselves and ask some leading questions about it, but she'd be too afraid it was something wrong with her to say what was happening outright, so that'd be the main problem.

(after having a breakdown about it, she'd probably be fine and be able to sort it out pretty quickly with everyone else's input. but she would have to have a breakdown first. she would learn nothing from this.)
