Spot illustrations for Penacony readables: Dreamscape Tourist Compendium — Transport

The transportation in Golden Hour are so interesting. I only recently noticed that they're all powered by SoulGlad.

There's lots of bubble imagery in Penacony - memory bubbles, soda bubbles, bubble charges to make bubble bridges, bubble pinball. It really foreshadows how fragile the Dreamscape is, like it's about to burst. I feel like the themes are much more blatant in Penacony compared to other areas. I really like it!

Sidenote, I thought the Spheroid mentioned in the text referred to the Bubble Pinball Machine, but it's actually talking about the ones that wind around the buildings! (´ ^ `; )

When I drew the correct Spheroid, I tried blocking some parts with black, but it pulled too much focus.;; I'm still pretty proud of it, so I'll leave it here!

I'm trying to find work as an editorial illustrator, I though illustrating the readables in Star Rail would be a fun portfolio project!

Kafka 🕸 Witch Hat Atelier AU

It is finally complete! BrimHat!Kafka's character sheet!

Using forbidden magic, Kafka has altered various part of her body. Most notably are her ink claw and her augmented vocal cords. The ink claws are hollow inside and hold ink, allowing her to cast spells on the fly easily. The augmented vocal cords are a key component for her Spirit Whisper spell. Her voice is capable of speaking in a frequency that can only be heard by the spell's victim.

Kafka belongs to a group of Brim Hats called the Stelleron Hunters, who, true to their name, collect Stellerons.

Not much is known about stellerons, except that they are harbingers of disaster. Is they remnants from before the Day of the Pact? Perhaps ancient contraptions? Or maybe signs of divine wrath? Rumour has it that knowledge of it's true nature is only know by the Three Wise ...and the Stelleron Hunters.

While travelling on its usual route, the Express suddenly screeches to a halt. It's stuck. As the the crew members (Pom-Pom, Himeko, Welt, Dan Heng and March 7th) rush to the front to check what's wrong, the power goes out. Neon pink webs shoot up from the floor. Then, illuminated by the glowing webs, a woman with striking purple-pink eyes appears.

"Kafka." Himeko stands protectively in front of her fellow crew members, weapon at the ready.

"Relax, Astral Express." Kafka's smile curls up further but doesn't reach her eyes.

"I've brought gifts~"

🕸 BrimHat!Kafka hat ideas 🕸

I'm planning out Kafka's Witch Hat Atelier AU character sheet and I had a few different ideas for hats. I'm not sure if I wanted to give her a simpler sleek design or something a bit more over the top and traditionally witch-like.

As for her hands, they have been magically altered into ink claws. As the name suggests, her claws hold ink, which allows her to easily tatoo spells onto her victims.

I definitely want to make her more spider-like in her AU design. Maybe spider legs?

Firefly is introducing Penacony's various attractions to Stelle! ✩

I hope we get more dreampeek calls in future updates. Especially for past characters that don't have much lore like Qingque and Luka. It's nice getting little scraps of characterisation!

Also, I love how the consumables look in Penacony! They're so fun and colourful! I just had to draw the two of them interacting with the items.

I absolutely love Firefly's design! You really start to appreciate the details when you're forced to draw them;;; It's so cool how her firefly and hourglass theme works so well with her backstory and role in the story so far.
