A Caper White butterfly in my sister's garden in Narara yesterday. Thousands of these were flying across The Ridgeway and around areas of the Central Coast yesterday on their migration South. https://ift.tt/2UvZewO

From the jetty at the former coal mining township of Catherine Hill Bay, 36kms from Newcastle and 127km from Sydney. A jetty was built here when the site was first mined in 1873, and was later replaced in 1890. Ships would dock here to load coal to transport to Sydney. Operations ceased in 2002, and bushfires destroyed adjoining buildings in 2013. Today the jetty lies in derelict state as authorities tustle over what to do with it. The area has been at the centre of development and preservation disputes, but about 100 restored mining shacks remain, along with a pub, and the precinct was heritage listed in 2010. It survives as a rare example of a NSW company town. https://ift.tt/37mg5ap
