Qrow: Why is my scroll in the refrigerator?

Taiyang: After we all got home last night, you put it in there and said: “This is really gonna confuse me tomorrow”. Apparently drunk you plays pranks on hungover you.

Qrow and Raven both have red blades

One thing that’s never talked about enough is that Qrow and Raven both have the iconic red blade as part of their weapon. Raven’s default/fire Dust sword is Red and awesome, of course. But wait, you say. Qrow’s sword is silver, you say.

Look again.

When Qrow reveals his scythe, the actual scythe blade is red. The Branwen twins have more in common than most people realize, and their character design reinforces that. Yes, Raven also parallels Adam’s design, and that is intentional, but that’s for another post. Qrow and Raven have the same blade for their weapon, yet Raven brandishes it and hides her more useful Dust blades, while Qrow keeps his hidden and only uses it when he needs it most.

Warning: Incoming post about me thinking too much into things. Again.

So, I was watching a lyric video for one of the more recent tracks for RWBY - specifically the one for the Maiden fight - and some of the lyrics caught my attention:

“Murder Unkindness Conspiracy”

Then today, it clicked in my smallish brain that Murder and Unkindness are the words for a group of crows and ravens, respectively. 

And then I really started to think about it… because while I’ve never put a lot of stock in RWBY’s soundtrack (mainly because I’m tone deaf and have trouble hearing lyrics properly), I do know that a lot of story is told in the lyrics themselves. So I started to wonder exactly what those lines in particular could be implying.

And yeah, yeah I know if one could take it in a literal sense it could just be a telling of the events taking place in the volume, which of course is Raven is using her group to conspire against Qrow’s.

BUT I DIDN’T COME HERE TO BORE Y’ALL. So let me entice you with a thought – what if it’s a hidden message? What if the lyrics are telling us that Qrow and Raven are conspiring not against one another but together? And I know that sounds crazy: Miss “I want my brother dead” has actually been working alongside her brother the whole time?! Preposterous!

Hello!!!

Finally done with this comic commission for @canonseeker​!

Totally enjoyed writing and drawing this one! I finally drew a Summer / Taiyang comic which I’ve been holding off for the longest time. These two cinnamon rolls have such a sweet relationship tbhhhh

It’s basically our take on how the relationship generally developed, with combinations of references from fanfiction. Thank the fandom!
