You must’ve read that in fan fiction, because there is no canon evidence that Gambit can see in the dark. His eyes glow in the dark but that doesn’t mean he’s got night vision.

do you know how long/how involved the gambit as death arc was? was it like a 2 issue run off that was immediately fixed or did it have like, actually impact and consequences to his character for a while? bc i feel like the average person doesn’t know he was a horseman which will make the x-men97 writers not put too much effort or emphasis into it bc they think people don’t care

There was a whole arc about it. 

It started when Gambit decided to join Apocalypse with the intention of destroying the villain from the inside. Obviously, it didn’t work, and he ended up brainwashed. 

The only interesting part was Poccy saying “considering your unique… heritage… you should have been leader of the X-Men”. Unfortunately, that was never picked up on again. To this day, we don’t know what that was all about.

Then Death attacked the X-Men (and Rogue), yada yada yada, soap-opera-level cheap drama, Death was defeated, Sinister found him and turned him back to normal off-panel 😒 

Freaking Carey brought it back, but again, it led nowhere. In this case, thankfully. 

To be fair that was Gambit’s lowest point in comics. He was dumb and pathetic. The last two things he should be. 

I give 0 credit to those “writers”, no matter what.

For you, what should happen in the next seasons of x97 to fix all the bad things they did with Gambit? if it were in your hands, what would you do?

I have no doubt the next season will fall short, especially when it comes to Gambit. Remember that the original plan was to solve the whole Death mess in a single episode, and we don’t even know if that plan is still in place.

If it were up to me, I would start by retconning the disgusting retcon. A few simple lines could fix it: 

The pathetic old groomer would still come on strong. And then something along the lines:

“You’re ignoring everything we’ve had.”

“What was it? A couple of weeks when we could touch, we kissed, and that was it.”

The grooming and pedophilic intention would still be there – “because of the implication” – but since that character was written that way, I honestly don’t care about the damage to him. I care about the damage it did to Gambit.

Then I’d dedicate an entire arc – half the season – to Gambit struggling as Death. He would be a dangerous opponent, and would only fall with the whole team comes together to defeat him and bring him back to who he was. In short, Gambit would come back to his senses because of all the X-Men, not solely because of Rogue (I’m sure that’s how it’s gonna play out in the show). 

And of course Rogue would have to suffer, and cry, beg, pay for all the crap she put him through. Also, things wouldn’t magically go back to normal. In the following episodes, Gambit would have to learn to be himself again.

So, yeah, I would become what I hate the most and make it all about my favorite character.
