Cowplant Mod

This mod makes it possible to give cowplants unique names and adds new ways to interact with them.

🏷️ Give name: a new interaction that appears on unnamed cowplants. Choosing it pops up a window where you can write the name and optionally, change the recolor. (The recolor can still be changed later with the recolor tool, too.)

You can see the cowplant's name on interaction strings, when you grab the cowplant, or move it into inventory. Your sims will also enjoy talking to named cowplants more.

If you want to change the name later, there's a debug option (appears when shift-clicking the cowplant with testingcheats on) for it.

🗨️ Talk to/with: increases social and nature enthusiasm, and is very cute, as the cowplant gets some pats too. This interaction uses new anims edited from the existing cowplant anims.

💢 Tease: already existed in the game but was only used by ghosts. Now your living sims can tease cowplants too. By doing so, they'll make the cowplant go hungry faster (the hunger won't change if the cowplant is teased by ghosts).

All the interactions are available for children as well. If you feel like they should spend time playing with a giant carnivorous plant, this mod won't stop you.

In addition, this mod includes a small fix for the cowplant that makes it possible to repository other objects to it.

The file is compressed. University and Pets are required.

You might need to replace existing cowplants for them to update. This mod is compatible with buyable career rewards.

⚠️ The mod is pretty thoroughly translated, the amount of interaction strings with the cowplant's name varies for some languages. If you find mistakes, please let me know.

🚨 Likely conflicts with cowplant-related mods but run HCDU+ to be sure. Should be compatible with ghost-related mods like Cyjon's less cowplant obsession or playable ghosts can haunt by @jellymeduza.

⚙️ Various Mod Edits

These are some edits that I've made for my own use. I'm sharing because they might be useful for someone, but here's the deal:

⚠️ I won't make other versions/offer conflict support for these mods.

If you experience problems with them and HCDU+ doesn't report a conflict, please let me know. I've tested these mods and I use them in my own game.

If you find a mod conflict or feel like these edits aren't quite what you're looking for, please don't message me about it. The easy solution is to opt out of using these.

Visitor Controller Edit

An edit of the visitor controller version by @midgethetree.

Incorporates this trait mod by @hexagonal-bipyramid, so Loners show up on community lots and as walkbys less often.

There's a new a blocker object found under general/misc. Put this object into the inventory of any sim, and they won't show up on community lots or as walkbys at all.

Enables children and teens to visit community lots even when there aren't playable children/teens present.

Requires: the trait_MAIN from 3t2 traits project (as the blocker object uses its mesh). Doesn't require using any of the traits.

Towel Mod by Color Traits with Inappropriate Behavior

A further 3t2 trait edit of my color trait towels mod.

Makes inappropriate sims change into naked instead of the towel after a shower/bath.

As a side effect, inappropriate sims might stay naked in some other situations where the game usually pushes the sim to put the clothes on asap.

Higher Relationship Requirement for Dining Groups

Not really an edit, but there's only a point in using this with simler90's dining group mod, even though this is a separate mod.

Raises the short-time relationship needed for visiting sims to dine together from 5 to 40.

TS2 Nectar Bar Revised

Default / Recolours

I've included two default replacement files - bar mesh only AND mesh & textures & nectar bottle (all in one).

*Texture layout is unchanged. Recolours will also work with original nectar bar mesh.

I highly recommend this fix/mod by @jellymeduza that allows to pick up and drink nectar placed on tables etc. And also this mod to let Sims fulfill drink-related wants when using nectar bar.

Mesh & texture default contains a few other resources, one extra recolour and Nectar bottle mesh that has been remapped and linked to bar texture (original bottle has its own texture).

Mesh-only default also contains more resources, but no bar textures - it will change the bar shape, shadows and the non-recolourable glass. It works perfectly fine with recolours like these by @shastakiss . But please note it won't work with Shasta's default as that one also contains GMDC resource.

New bar is more compact and a bit lower than original so it can be fully covered by counters. You can access bar options by clicking on the bottle.

Gunther Goth Elementary

@redrosesimming asked me to upload this, so here we go.

Gunther Goth Elementary comes with 5 classrooms (3 for older kids, 2 for kindergartners; the kindergarten rooms will look a little different than pictured because I put some more stuff on the walls before packaging the lot), a small school library, a cafeteria/multipurpose room, nurse's office, principal's office, front office, outdoor picnic area, and playground.

Zoned as residential. Built with storytelling in mind, so I'm not entirely sure how playable it is. Feel free to do whatever you want with it.

Disclaimer: This lot was built with sims on it. I used Chris Hatch's LotCleaner + the Lot Compressor to clear it of all sim references, so it should be safe to use, but please be aware of that.

Chris Hatch's Community Time Mod fix

This post is about Chris Hatch's version of the popular Community Time Project mod for Sims 2, which prevents an immediate return of a Sim to their home lot after a travel. It's a great idea and I use this mod ever since I started using mods in my game.

However, it has a known but so far unfixed issue. If the player ever closes the text box that shows the remaining time until the Sim's return, or if the player closes their game while a Sim is off-world and later reloads the lot, then the mod will throw an "Undefined Transition" error.

CTP also fails to calculate the time correctly if a Sim is away for longer than 72 hours, and instead flows over to zero.

I have prepared a little fix for these two issues which I deemed not large enough to upload to MTS, but it's a critical fix for CTP users nonetheless.

Note that, unless CTP is re-written from scratch, travel times longer than seven days (168 hours) will still slow over to zero, because the Token - Community Time does not keep track of larger time units than the current Day of Week at departure.

While I was at it, I also solved the conflict between CTP and @lazyduchess' Playable Nannies mod.

Make sure the fix loads after CJH_CommTime(StandAlone), and also after ld_scheduler_car_semiglobals if you have it.

[TS2] Sim Bio on Tombstones (Commissioned)

Hi!

This is a mod that was commissioned to me by @IlexVici on Twitter, so credit for the idea and concept goes to her :)

This mod adds a new "About" immediate interaction to urnstones and tombstones if the deceased Sim has a biography, and will display it in a pop-up message when clicked.

Installation - Important!

Installation is weird as this is an experimental mod, using a modding framework called TS2Hook.

You need Sims2RPC to ins tall this mod.

The zip file contains a "Downloads" folder, the contents of this folder go into your "Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads" folder as usual.

However, there is also a "TSBin" folder, the contents of which go into your "Sims 2 Mansion and Garden installation directory/TSBin", where Sims2RPC is installed.

If all went well, you'll see a "TS2Hook (1 script loaded)" text on the top left corner of the screen when you launch TS2, and the interaction should show up in-game.

What even is TS2Hook?

TS2Hook is a tool for creating mods that weren't possible before, still in development. It lets you do things like interaction injection (which this mod does, so it doesn't replace any resources, making it conflict free) and much, much more, even custom cheats!

I thought this would be a good mod to use TS2Hook on, as TS2 normally doesn't actually let you access Sim bios to display them, this was only possible thanks to TS2Hook.

Sims can WooHoo on a pirate ship

This mod adds new woohoo spot - pirate captain's cabin (with fireworks and stuff). "Meduza_AskToWooHoo_social" is required for this mod to work (included with upload).

Woohoo in captain's cabin will alert everyone on the ship (and only on the ship), so Sims will come to see what's going on (as it happens with clothing booths and photobooths).

This kind of usage of captain's cabin may also draw captain's attention and result in woohooing Sims running away only in their underwear.

The mod supports public woohoo wants and memories.

On the 24th of October ask to WooHoo in Walk-In Closet, Sims can WooHoo in vampire coffin, flyable TS4 rocket and TS3 fairy houses with more options were updated to include the new version of "Meduza_AskToWooHoo_social" social plug-in.

Can you tell I was inspired by a certain show? Also, I swear my game isn't as wild as my mods would suggest with all the new ways to kill Sims and new woohoo spots... Sometimes I just need some very specific way to get my Sims hooked up or killed. 🫣

Esther Cobblepot-Nygma

It seems that Esther didn't have much luck finding love during Lorelei's bachelor challenge, but maybe she will find one in your game?

She's born in-game daughter of my Riddler and Penguin Sims, so her recessive eyecolour is green, in case you're interested in spicing up her genetics. (I applaud @moocha-muses for one of Esther's remark going like "I promise not to kill anyone". So in character for my girl. 👏)

You can find info about her personality here (do I need to add her favourite colour is teal? Btw, I know Rebellious and Schmoozer traits conflict in TS3, but I see Esther as a character who would break the law and then bribe the authorities, so it kinda goes both ways), but once she's in your game, she's your character. Feel free to give her whatever personality you fancy. :)

How I got my Sims 2 game working on my new Windows 11 laptop, step by step.

OKAY. Gadies and Lentlemen.

I have seen plenty of these around, but I wanted to share my process!

So I bought an MSI creator laptop. The specs are as follows:

CPU: 13th gen Intel i7-13700H

RAM: 16 GB DDR5

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPU

Step One: Fresh install. I used the EA App to install the UC version on my new laptop.

Step Two: Download and install RPC launcher. This will automatically apply the 4gb patch. Run as administrator, but not in any kind of compatibility which renders the 4gb patch useless.

Step Three: Download and install Graphics Rule Maker. I used all of the recommended settings, aside from texture memory which I set at 2048 mb for reasons that will become clear later.

Step Four: Memory allocation fix (empty standby list). Explanation here.

Step Five: Setting virtual memory. I used instructions from this post at MTS - My virtual memory paging file is now minimum of 25000 and maximum of 30000. You'll need to adjust to your system's own specs.

Step Six: In game settings. Shadows Off. Neighbours Off. Lighting Medium. RPC Settings. Apply 4GB patch. Automatically Clean Cache. Lot Imposters Optimized. Sim/Object Shadows Classic. I also have lot view ocean reflections ticked.

If your game works like this with no flashing and crashing, awesome. Mine did not. I firstly tried several different texture memory sizes, but they had 0 impact.

I believe the next step is only for NVIDIA cards, but may be wrong.

Step Seven: DXVK. The most recent version from, here. There are plenty of instructions on how to install out there. But make sure you install the 32bit version. I have these two following lines in my DXVK.conf file (and do make sure it is saved as a conf file, NOT a txt or similar).

d3d9.maxAvailableMemory=2048

d3d9.presentInterval=0

The first line corresponds to the texture memory mentioned earlier. DXVK installs won't recognise more than that and having it higher can cause crashes apparently. The second line... No idea what it does but it was mentioned in several guides and reddit posts.

I don't know if the newer versions of DXVK allow fullscreen mode as the older ones did not, but I play in borderless mode anyway which works.

I also delete my thumbnails folder every so often.

I hope this helps someone, this silly old game can be cantankerous but I was determined to get it running again!
