Final Reflection

Over the course of this very short deadline i was able to put together a design system redesign for a festival that i truly liked. Having such a short time frame, tested my decision making skills and overall efficieny ie not making too many iterations that resulted in spending time that i simply didnt have.

I feel like i had a clear vision as to my approach in redesigning the Auckland Fried Chicken Festival and this is evident from my quick work of iterations. I essentially combined the information from all past festivals and chose to focus on a lineup and floorplan that was a mix of the last festival and the intended festival this year.

Coming into design project 1B from 1A i brought over the skills that made my image making successful. Which was the use of photoshop and typography. With that being said i wanted to improve upon and become comfortable with a bit of vector illustration seeing that i do not consider myself that skilled in illustrator.

This project allowed me to use photomanipulation, vector illustration, typography and the opportunity to experiment through my creation of textures and display type. I feel like i have managed my time quite well and have excelled at both design projects.

The original Auckland Fried Chicken festival lacked versatility and variety with its designs. I imagine thats due to the fact that just hearing the words fried chicken festival would intrigue any food lover to come on down. I do truly feel that i have improved upon their current design system all while keeping the essence and the elements that worked for them previously. If given more time i wouldve liked to provide more collateral.

Mockups of wax paper

Difficult trying to find a simple mockup of wax paper but here i am. when mocked up i get a better sense of the scale of my design, making sure that its not too big for the container. Overall very happy with this final collateral, not straying too far from my other designs and i can definitely see this at the bottom of each dish because at the end of it, the grease would made the paper look like my other designs

Now this was a well welcomed development and final. Its all gridded up and has a sense of pattern. Communicating where they are, what theyre all about and what theyre eating. I was torn between choosing the vector based design and the halftone design so i think im just going to go with the both of them

Too Messy, real ugly and just all over the place, no sense of logo what it is just a bunch of assets pasted definitely not happy with this one
