I do not have a womanbrain or a femininemind or a girlgender. my body is female and that has shaped many of my life experiences, specifically because of the ambient misogynistic culture of male supremacy; none of that is innate to my brain. the things I like or do or want are gender neutral and particular to my personality as a human. the idea that the things I like or do or want either 'match' or 'don't match' my body rests on the premise that different personalities are tied to 'matching' bodies on the basis of sex innately rather than artificially. that is a fundamentally sexist premise at odds with feminism.

Look, Noah Schnapp has some making up to do. He did a very very stupid thing and I was mad at him for it. Saying 'Zionism is sexy' was one of the most tone deaf things a person could have said in the wake of October 7th.

That said, he is 19 years old and many 19 year olds are idiots and can grow and learn and change over time. He's by no means a lost cause. It just seems hollow to me that since he was deemed a Bad One by the online zeitgeist that means his sexuality is now something that can be weaponized against him.

We need to be better at this kind of thing. Homophobia is either acceptable or it isn't and it doesn't suddenly become acceptable just because the person you are aiming it at is a problematic teenager. Again, I think Noah was foolish and dumb with his actions last year, but I'm seriously troubled by how accepted homophobic abuse towards him has become.

And now we have a situation where 12,000 people are laughing and engaging with homophobia because it's alright, it's only Noah Schnapp it's being aimed at. He's a Bad One. It doesn't matter. It does.

If you want to criticize this very very privileged young man for his dumb rhetoric then do so, but your progressivism rings hollow when you choose to go about by weaponizing homophobic slurs. The vast majority of women dont actually believe trans women are female, they are simply being respectful. They believe "trans women are women" means "trans women should be socially accepted as women" and not that male people are actually female now. They generally dont believe trans women are facing a special kind of misogyny but simply discrimination for being trans.
