The Interview
Luckily for you, one of our team members had the opportunity to attend a recent festival, and snapped a few pictures to show you what it was all about. Was the street food ethnically diverse? The festival contained mostly East asian food stands, but there was still a good variety of them. I would've preferred if there was more Southeast or South Asian food. Was the food at the festival good? Unfortunately, I only had the chance to try out a few stands. From what I ate, the food was really good albeit the small portions. Describe the atmosphere/ambience at the festival. Although very crowded, the area had a nice vibe. They had a DJ and a sandy area to hang around so that made the atmosphere more comfortable rather than formal. Given that it is a festival, were there plenty of people? Definitely. I might be overestimating, but it felt like thousands of people were present at the event. It was probably more like a few hundred people. It was quite cramped and hard to navigate. And to add, there was an incredibly long line at the entrance. It took me about an hour or more to finally get into the festival. Have you been to a similar festival before? If so, how would you compare the two? If the poutine festival counts then yes. They were pretty similar in terms of experience, but the Asian food festival had more things to do like the DJ and the dance floor. How would you rate the food festival overall? Out of 10, I'd rate it a 7/10. Great food, however it would've been better if there was a lot more space and more diversity when it came to the food. What did you like most about the festival? This may seem like a somewhat generic and obvious answer, but the food has to be the best part of the festival. Why have you chosen to come to this festival? Cheap food! And you get to discover some nice Asian food joints to go to around town. Were there more things to do at the festival other than eat the food? Yeah like I mentioned before, there was a DJ and a small sandy dance floor. Also if I'm not mistaken, there was a view tower. Would you attend this festival again?I would love to! I just hope there's more space next time and also a more larger variety of food. And a less longer line at the entrance, the place was packed. Why? Perhaps an asian food fest has never come to your mind but it’s a huge hit. Fortunately we live in a city where people are open to trying new foods, and Asian food, I guess you can say, is ‘trendy’ nowadays as more types of people are exposed to it at this point in time. No two cultures cook the same types of food, so for people who are foreign to Asian cuisine, they get a unique opportunity to taste delicious food. So if someone in the family doesn’t want to have the same repetitive meals, why not try something different and go for asian?!

All About the Asian Food Truck Festival
Montreal has definitely become a hot spot on the map!
Would you say Montreal is pretty good at keeping up with social trends? We say ‘yes’! Considering its very urban environment, Montreal is known to be diverse and welcoming toward people from all walks of life. Particularly in the world of arts and culture, Montreal recognizes people’s differences and embraces them to make up the beautiful city we have today. This all sounds fun in games, but you may be wondering, how does Mtl keep up? The answer to that…
FESTIVALS! Our city hosts a wide range of events, such as music celebrations like Osheaga and Ile Soniq, to food festivals like Beer Fest and food trucks at the olympic stadium. The list goes on. Presented in these events are a variety of cultures and talents that live here. This exposes the population to new cultures and practices that aren’t of second nature to them, and turns into a fun way of exploring the world we live in. With facilitated public transit, it’s hard to miss the party, whether in a park somewhere, or in the downtown core!
Today’s festival presentation is all about food, because, well who doesn’t love some flavourful food?
Street food is always exciting, whether it’ be large festivals, or if ever you happen to catch a food truck on a street side. It seems to be the newest trendy way of presenting a variety of foods to the city people, and also further develop restaurant businesses by getting feedback from the public firsthand. Montreal is in with the new, as street food seems to be happening. Why do we love it so much? It makes for a fun outing with friends and an exciting way to try new things!
Food fests haven’t been a ‘thing’ in the city until recently, so we were interested in unravelling the reason behind our attraction to these unique events. What better way then to attend this weekend’s Asian street food festival?
