Coming back to this I realize some of the context is missing - but this comes DIRECTLY after the scene where Misuzu and Haruka overhear some other girls shit talking them. So it really reads as though Haruka just wants Misuzu to WANT her, as a way to soothe those ego wounds. And of course Misuzu just feels like nobody could ever want her at base, so it's a miracle that Haruka will let her do this. S'fucked up!

This feels like progress. Misuzu started out like "I'm okay having nothing for myself ever."

And now, even though this stuff is hard for her - she'd made her way to "I actually want something, and it's having a real relationship with Haruka, and I'm willing to put off my defence mechanisms to get closer to that."
