Call for research volunteers
I am currently working on my Masters thesis in anthropology, focusing on debates and discourse taking place in fandom spaces on Tumblr
Right now, I am looking for antishippers who would be available for an interview of around 1h with me, about their experiences and perspective relative to fandom spaces
(Proshippers are also welcome to volunteer, but they will not be given priority, as I already did a few interviews with proshippers before and would like some more varied data)
For more information on my research, you can refer to my pinned post, or send me an ask (anon asks should normally always be open)
About the interview specifically:
it should last about 1h, but it’s better to plan for 1h30, in case of technical issues
speaking of, I currently reside in Switzerland, so the interview would take place online. Ideally through a video/voice call, but I can adapt to your needs
the interview will be recorded for research purposes, but neither the recording nor the transcription will be shared with anyone. All traces of the data will be destroyed once the research will be completed
all data will by anonymized
As a last point, and because it is a frequent enough question – there is no need to prepare anything. There is no right or wrong answer, I am only interested in your own point of view, your thoughts, your experiences
If you are interested in participating, you can contact me through my DMs, or at the email address [email protected], with a few dates/time frames that would suit you (+ your time zone)
Thank you for your attention! And thank you in advance to anyone willing to help me out, it’s greatly appreciated!

Why this blog
Hello!
I am an anthropology student at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), currently in my Masters
The reason this blog exists is because I am working on my thesis, about online discourse, the forms it can take, and the way such interactions take place, specifically in fandom spaces
(I have personally been active in various fandoms since 2009, which is why this theme interested me in the first place)
If I am following you, it's probably because you are often posting about fandom discourse one way or another, and it's easier for me to check out posts and collect data if I can just have everything in one place, on my dash
All data will be anonymized in the final paper, and I probably won't even quote specific posts. Rather, I am more interested in trends of discourse and behavior
If, however, you feel uncomfortable being featured in academic research, Please Just Block Me
I am not here to judge, or make anyone feel uncomfortable
Feel free to contact me if you have questions about my research, my methods, or anything at all. Ways to do this:
send me an ask through this here hellsite (anon asks should normally stay open at all times)
send me an email at [email protected]
As a last point, I likely won't reblog anything on this blog. I might post updates in my research? Not sure. Feel free to follow me if you want, but I doubt there would be any point to it
