     Ⅰ. Connor’s words chilled his blood and constricted his heart within a vice grip. Markus would replay that exact moment, repeating it until he knew the dialog verbatim. It felt surreal, to love somebody so much, and deciding to let them go — believing it’s what was best for both parties.

Nobody said it was easy

     Ⅱ. What words could he say that would possibly make this situation better? Nothing, no flowery language could reconstruct the future he demolished — and for what? His own self-preservation, or was it because Connor deserved to experience more than what he had to offer? All were pitiful conclusions to justify his selfish actions.

It’s such a shame for us to part

     Ⅲ. His mouth opened several times, feeling as though he was choking on his response. He didn’t dare make eye contact, just seeing the other’s face would cease any function within his processors — such a cowardly and selfish thing to do. ❝ Connor, I — ❞ His voice shook, and was saturated with guilt. Despite speaking he still didn’t know what he was going to say.
