Days 5 6 and 7 of inktober!!

Link was taking care of the kittens when a customer walked in. Unfortunatly, with his arms full of fuzzy, little, meowing guys, he couldn’t great the guy but he nodded to him as he walked over to the cats. Carefully juggling the kittens in his hands, he got them to their cages and stepped over to the customer.

With a nod and a smile, he popped open the cage and let the little guy walk onto his hands. He then held him out to the other. Without his hands, he couldn’t exactly communicate very well. But he hoped holding the cat out to the other was obvious enough.

     You feel like it’s been a good, long time since you’ve seen such a big group of domesticated animals. Earth C was always different enough from your Earth for you to miss little things like the cuteness of puppies and kittens. You consider the fact that this makes you seem a lot less cool, but only to the untrained cool radar. The true cool scale naturally adjusted for adorable tamed wildlife.

     Perhaps you were only there to look, to cheer yourself up. Your friends were nowhere in sight and the feeling of being trapped away from them was the most stressful thing you had to deal with in five whole years of overseeing a planet. Perhaps you had no plans to adopt, or to even stay at the shelter for longer than a few minutes, but dozens of eyes were on you and you couldn’t bear to leave them.

     One of them in particular almost looked eager to get in your arms: a charming, small gray cat. The lil snaggletooth dude rubbed against the door of the cage, meowing loudly all the while. It reminded you of —

     You immediately turned to the attendee on his shift, and pointed.

Link wandering around at all times of the day when he wasn’t working wasn’t odd. Heck, finding him out sleeping in the woods most nights wasn’t odd either. And it was very difficult for him to find things other people did odd. So when he spotted some (well he looked like a swordsman) wandering through the woods where he had set up camp on night...Well he just waved him over.

He had his little campfire set up, after all. A couple of apples roasting over the open flame and his bedroll laid out. Maybe this stranger would like an apple and to relax for a moment.

Gundham had allowed the black squirrel to crawl around him, and become familiar with the very curious hamsters that were starting to emerge from his scarf and coat. All he needed now was a big snake at his legs and he’d feel like god, and the feat certainly left him standing tall.

His long dark coat billowing in the wind with the dark purple scarf following, his laughter which edged being maniacal had perhaps not set the bet mood to the other person but how could he care for a mortal?

“Foolish mortal! Can you not see I have successfully preformed a blood sacrifice for this creature of darkness to become my ally!” He boasted, smiling widely at the interaction between his animals. They seemed to harbor mutual curiosity. And this squirrel seemed young and impressionable enough to be trained. How perfect.

“You would not understand the mere importance of this moment.”

Creature of darkness? It looked like a regular squirrel to him. Leaning in a bit, Link studied the multitude of little creatures the other boy had on him. They were all quite cute. Definitely not creatures of darkness. And he’d seen one. 5, actually. Though 4 of them were....pieces?? of the other one...so did that count as 5 or as one?

They are very cute. He signed, instead of thinking on it too hard. They all have names??

✝ : interesting… is he deaf? that’s not possible considering he just responded to him and there was no way to read lips from behind a mask. mute would be the more probable answer. eyes followed the signing carefully, making sure to piece together the sentence correctly before answering. it seems the other was sick. my oh my. good thing such an eligible person came along.

“hm, i see. well, i do not think you should remain out here if you are not feeling well. water would be of use, but i do not have any on my person. can you try to get up? i will help you.” 

a bandaged hand reached out to the stranger.

Link shuffled through his belongings for a moment at the mention of water. He thought he’d had some, but apparently he was wrong. Not that he was too bothered by it, as bleary as he was. Looking back at the other, he shrugged and took the offered hand.

Carefully, he pulled himself up. Stumbling then wobbling a bit once he got to his feet. He signed a quick thank you when he was balanced enough to spare a hand to do so.

Links ears perked up when he heard someone yelling across the garden. It hadn’t sounded like a pained or upset sort of yell. Rather quite happy. Which made Link extremely curious. So he walked on over, trying to figure out what had made the other so happy.

Then he spotted a squirrel in the other’s hands and tilted his head, listening to what he was saying to the squirrel. Blinking, he wandered over.

What are you doing?? He signed. His curiosity definitely got the better of him.

“HA HA!!”

 Gundham yelled in the garden with a voice filled with triumph and joy. Perhaps the happiest he’s ever looked as his face was filled with elation.

He got the black squirrel! It was an honor to work with any creature with melanism. It had been a dream and with the dark squirrel on his shoulder he was already planning his route of breeding to make sure it would be successful.

“I shall give you a mortal name of goddess of darkness. For your form I will only find the most beautiful and befitting name for you. Perhaps Sonia is acceptable for you? Or perhaps I should consider another name.”

✝ : field work seemed futile in an established city, but one wouldn’t know until one tried. it would’ve been nice to remain that positive, but as he expected, the woods did not have much to offer an anthropologist. all this trip served as was some decent sightseeing.

it wasn’t till he had already decided to head back did something catch his attention. a boy. his ears were the first thing that stood out, and what ultimately caught his attention enough so to prompt him to interact. that, and the boy kind of looked like he was dying just a bit.

“my, you don’t look too well. is it the best idea to be outside right now in your… condition?” 

Link’s ears perked up as he was approached. He tilted his head and studied the other for a moment, squinting a bit. His mind was a little foggy, it seemed. Slowly, he raised his hands.

No. He signed simply. But getting up is not a best idea either. My brain is foggy. Not to mention everything hurt. He didn’t get sick often. So he wasn’t so sure how to take care of it. He sneezed again.

Link didn’t get lost. At least, not often. Not in the city, at least. His sense of direction was pretty good and the city had landmarks in abundance. Not to mention, if he did get lost, he could just scale a building and find his way from there. Which was what he was doing. Perched on the edge of a building, his hand blocking the sun from his eyes as he looked around.

Grinning when he spotted his destination, he backed up from the edge. With a running start, he began hopping from rooftop to rooftop, using his paraglider to help him across larger gaps. He was almost there, gliding across another gap, when his hands slipped off of the paraglider.

Really, he probably should have been more panicked. But he wasn’t super far from the ground, and had fallen from the paraglider at worse heights. So he wasn’t worried, until he realized there was a person walking beneath him. Panicking, he whistled. Hoping to get the person’s attention before he landed on them.

He didn’t.

so i got botw for the switch for my birthday (as well as a switch haha) and my Link muse has gotten a bit of a boost. So if you’d like a starter go ahead and like this post! I won’t cap it for now but I’ll probably take a little bit of time to write them up since I’m playing the game haha
