   Fury burned within her as she stared down at her battered brother. How dare they. Perhaps it is time to start being a bit more proactive in several of her schemes when it came to the Cyro Archon and her gaggle of Fatui.

  The corpses here won’t be the last, and that much was a promise. Blood would be spilled over this transgression. 

  She hadn’t wanted to drag Aether into the darkness of the Abyss, the broken remnants of a destroyed nation. He was still a star that had no place in the seemingly eternal darkness, but there was no choice in that now.

  (she had hoped that merely keeping tabs on him would’ve been enough to keep him out of any serious trouble- oh, how wrong she was) 

  (the abyss had trembled with her rage when none of the mages and lectors could find him) 

  (the small voice in the back of her head promised hell on teyvat if he was dead)

   Gently as she could, Lumine bent down and held her brother’s face and stared into his tired eyes. From now, she internally promised to keep him safe, allowing him to figure out this world on his own was simply no longer an option. Forcing her own belief that Celestia and its chosen Archons had to burn wasn’t something she wanted to do, but after this, she doubted Aether would have any objections. 

  “I’m so, so sorry Aether.” She murmured, letting his face go so she could properly hold him protectively in her arms, “You’re safe now. I can promise you that much.” 

  She looked over her shoulder towards one of her lectors, spitting out orders to do a final sweep of the base and that it was time to leave. Allow this to be a message to those who find this hideout. 

  Picking up Aether from the cold stone was easy (easier than it should’ve been) and once a portal was open, Lumine took her brother to the Abyss- The safest place she knew.

   Besides, he has trust in Sucrose’s judgment of the situation. If she felt they could handle it and make it out, who was he to allow his own doubt to stop them? It wasn’t like huddling in this cave and hoping they didn’t get spotted were going to offer any better results.
