Right where I belong
Social Media and homophily will make others feel like they are where they belong. Being yourself and having someone else who connects right with you is simply a satisfaction to most. Feeling like others agree with you makes you think you have a special bond that no one gets.
Risks within Social Media Platforms
Social media algorithms are a way of sorting posts in a users’ feed determined by relevancy versus publish time. In other words, social media platforms give precedence to which content a user sees in their social media feed first by the probability that they’ll actually want to see it. (Beichner, 2019) Platforms like Facebook and Instagram tend to do this to make us feel isolated. Usually when I'm googling something I’m interested in I will automatically see something similar to it on my Facebook. It makes me think that someone is watching every move I make on my phone. Risks are in every platform of social media. Bullies and scammers are behind a device trying to ruin anything and anyone. From shaming others, scamming people and trying to hack someone for their own pleasure.
Be Alert
Social Media can be safe if you take extra measures and learn how to have privacy. Sharing your locations is something we should avoid. This can make anyone even a stranger know your where abouts. Not sharing personal information is someone we should avoid. It’s okay being open minded but with certain precautions measures.

Do we have somethings in common?
Let’s be friends
Social media use is defined as the specific consumption of the Internet or digital media that differs from traditional informational media use. It offers a mechanism for users to connect and interact with other individuals via instant messaging or social networking sites (Ng, 2020). Social Media is a great tool that people feel it’s much easier to stay connected with others. Social media gives us access to get to know other with strangers. By simply adding someone on social media we automatically become friends and get to start like each other’s posts and pictures. A conversation can start off really quick by messaging and commenting one another.
Just like me
Homophily is described as an individual trying to be friends with those who are just like them. Finding groups of people, they can relate to and can make them feel like they are where they belong. The benefits for this are that these individuals get to connect with others through all the social media platforms. People on Facebook create groups and let those join who are interested in learning new things. Personally, I follow craft groups on Facebook, and I enjoy seeing and reading how others create DIYs for their homes which motivates me do to similar projects. Social media has recently emerged as reliable and timely platforms for sharing knowledge and information. Individuals connect with others by sharing and providing user-generated content on social media. (Ng, 2020)
Add me
Social media algorithms are what all social media platforms run on these days. They have led to a lot of changes to social media, and not always desired ones. (Agrawal, 2016) I am familiar with three social media platforms which are Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. These three give me access to stay connected with family, friends and customers who shop at my business.

STAND OUT!
Capturing Attention in Social Media
Social Media is one of the most popular internet usage now a days. Capturing attention is seeking ways to let others know what you are doing and thinking. People capture others attention by posting frequently and sharing any type of information. Social Media has transformed into an important role in our everyday life, from work to personal. I think it’s important because this is the way to introduce yourself with others, from sharing your business to staying in contact with others.
It’s easy to stay updated with any type of topic in social media and catch more viewers. By creating hashtags on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This will lead others to your post when they click a hashtag you created. By sharing a post you think will have others talking such as anything in the news or quotes. Posting frequently has people viewing your pictures of what you are doing for example checking in wherever you are at.
Maintaining Engagement in Social Media
In order to secure an engagement in social media is to be be interested in others topics in order to keep that relationship. It’s important to keep this relationship because you never know when you’ll need a helping hand. By doing this one must respond to comments, messages or calls. Following small business to know you are rooting for them and helping them get customers. Lastly, by inviting others to your conversations by tagging them in a posts.
